So sorry about your delayed visa, i understand what it's takes to be destabilized before interview, that makes me remember my first interview around May, when myself and other friend entered a one chance bus on our way to the embassy, those guys no get mercy atall, thank God we didn't go with our phones, they only left #500 for the two of us, me and my guy just turn mumu after the scene grin, after that we still go face another passport palava from those guys hustling at the embassy gate, we were forced to take another passport on credit and gave them our wallets containing ATM cards and other stuffs, na blue paper still end the whole thing.

Just prepare your self well and refire, God of favor will speak for you.

I couldn't find anything relating to "God of favor". What is that? Does he go with you to the visa interview and take the interview for you?

I think best and safer response to that question has always been NO... even if your whole family is there... for F-1 Visa... No is kinda better so as to let them know you got no ties in the USA which mean that you are surely coming back home.

Huh? Are you for real

So we're now encouraging people to start lying out a desperation just to get the US visas now?

Even if he lied that he didn't have a family member in the US so now we want to think that the VOs are that stupid to believe that and not know somehow?

I want to believe that Thomas91 also has family members in Nigeria too and so having a family member in the US wouldn't have prevented him from getting the visa.

People have gotten US visas even when they tell the truth that they have a family member or so in the US.

Hello sadducee!

I never wanted to comment on this thread but I'd just do that now.
If you really read "your" Bible like you claimed, you wouldn't have made this your comment I'm quoting. Well, like you said; "your" bible. I don't know what's there.
Secondly, you should never make any statement that you're unsure of. Worst still, making it general; take for instance, you said; "Nigerians in the US are dishonest and fraudulent". You also said that the reason this thread exists is because of fraud. This statements are appalling. You benefitted from this "fraudulent thread" and you've also been advising people on this "fraudulent thread". Does this not make you a perpetrator of fraud?
Not all Nigerians living in the US are dishonest or fraudulent as you claimed. Most crimes committed in the US are not done by Nigerians. Next time you make a statement, be sure of your facts before generalising.
Lastly, show some humility brother. You're lucky to have gotten your F1 visa approved but that does not make you more intelligible or more human than the rest prospective ones. It does not make you a god to decide who gets visa approved or denied. You've been in the US and know so much about the US does not guarantee that you'd be better than the one whose visa will be approved sometime this month. Your advice and encouragements are much needed here but ple a series be calm and coherent in your speech. Please be humble also. This is a public forum and wrong opinions can be expressed about people, tribes, ethnicity, culture and countries.
Remember, Proverbs 16:18 says that "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall". That should be in your bible too.
I hope you understand.
God bless.

The bible says nothing about how to define Nigerians... it does say "by their fruits" though...

Philadelphia:

You also said that the reason this thread exists is because of fraud. This statements are appalling.

What is appalling is that this thread has to exist at all. Ask yourself, why do Nigerians have to pray and fast to obtain a visa to the US when the Dutch simply need to sit on their computers and book a flight whenever they wish? You've got your answer... i am aware though that most of you love to live in denial. Well the commissioner for happiness is on her way to soothe your hurt feelings.

This is the most ignorant thing i've read all day:

2. If you take time to read my posts, i am a strong advocate of not using this thread at all. You can apply and obtain a visa without nairaland. Most are simply too lazy to do anything on their own.

Everything here makes zero sense. My point has always been that if we did things right, rather than always angling for the path of least resistance, a time would come when we too could proudly match to the US embassy to obtain visas without the constant humiliating interviews, or even aspire to not need visas to visit at all. With all your false "humility" and bible reading... here you are, begging for advice on how to convince a visa officer to grant you a visa. Shame on us all. It's never been about being better than anyone, its about trying hard to discourage the behaviors that landed us in this humiliating position. Thousands will go for interviews today, they will come out denied, defeated, demoralized, beaten down... why? Why is our country so incapable of moving beyond the point where we are constantly begging for visas even to ghana? We love to blame our leaders... but the problem is right here, on this thread, staring us in the eye - the nod and wink to that "white lie", the lackadaisical attitude to simple rules, the constant obsession with "favor" over hard work, discipline and proper planning, the get-it-quick syndrome, by hook or crook... then we have the audacity to whine when others call us out over it. Be my guest if you want to forever be the lackeys of the VOs. They would never treat British citizens this way.

The major problem with Nigerians is that they are the proverbial ostrich with their heads permanently buried in the sand. They love to strain over a gnat and ignore the broader issues.

Everyone should read please and learn from it

@Twoods really I like your person.
You are smart and intelligent
You are blunt and truthful
But there is one thing you still lack as an individual, I don't know if you're someone that easily accepts the truth if you know. YOU LACK WISDOM
OR I SHOULD PROBABLY SAY YOU'RE SHORT ON IT.
You have a good heart bro, you don't just know how to make others do too, and those are not qualities of a good leader.
Jesus would say I am here not for the perfect but to redeem those in sin. Ever since I joined this thread I have always noticed you in an unusual way, which is great. But I need you to learn to be at peace with people.

1st I need you to learn how to make an opinion or impression without being offensive. That's the only way the person you're trying to correct would understand you and take to your advice. Read this book Please "How to influence people"

2nd I'm a person that likes self resource, I do things on my own and that's why I'm not paying any agent a dime to fix up my admission or help me with visa prep. But since I got here I have learnt a lot from people
Lesson 1 nobody knows it all no matter your age
Lesson 2 some people are too reluctant when it comes to self research and that's why you are here for them to put them on the right path. Remember someone asking a question about funding, from my view he probably knew little about it or he was being fraudulent as you said but still there was a better way to make him your friend and give him an honest and not fraudulent advice but you didn't instead you pushed him to the devil. Please learn from that, because shortly after someone did what you were supposed to do at the first instant.

3rdly you cannot be a leader if you cannot think like your followers, you need to know what makes them feel the way they feel or ask the questions they ask and you have to have the ability to teach them what you need them to know without them being defensive or raising barriers. Let them trust your judgement.

4th learn how to be a good listener than a talker that's one thing that makes a wise man and a great leader. I've seen that in gbab4life and other few people who take their time to explain to people in dummy languages do that they understand the point they are trying to make. That's the only way you can change and influence people, imposition never works unless you want a war.

5th we need people like you back in Nigeria, you're honest and detest lie , please come and take up ruling mantle of change.
Thanks man
I hope you do learn from this

(in my case) Favor is when you go to the embassy with OLUWOLE SOA and the VO never requested to view it, while other OLUWOLE colleague was placed on AP
(in ur case) favor is when a pure naija guy struggle enter Yankee and fall out of status after 3 months, and still come on NL to claim he's the best graduating student in Havard.

Oga Twoods, grow up abeg, getting there first doesn't mean you're the best, it's just an opportunity. We are all naija blood, even thou you've spent 100 years in Yankee, that blood still runs in you, grow up man.

***REPOSTING***

House, kindly help me look into possibility of getting visa to study.

I had my Bachelor of Medical Lab Science (3.01/5.0) in 2010 from Nigeria and MSc (Distinction) in the UK in 2016. I am currently in the UK working on a fixed term contract. I will like to go for another MSc program in Biological Sciences in the US mainly because of my future aspiration. My previous MSc did not really align with that aspiration.

I have identified three schools (Wichita State University, San Jose State University and Western Illinois University) that do not require GRE and my GPA satisfies their requirement.

Even without funding and scholarship, I can demonstrate enough fund that will cater for me and my partner.

What's the possibility of getting a visa with my partner?

NB: I will probably be applying for the visa in the UK and have been to like four countries in Europe including the US on a visit visa

Bro, I read most of your comments and how you strongly frown at every appearance of dishonesty and fraud in Nigerians. There is no excuse whatsoever for these things and so It really is a big shame.

However, using myself an example... some of us are victims of the long term ills of the nigerian system. I wrote 3 entrance examinations after my primary school education to gain admission into 3 different secondary schools(NMS, NAS and a public school) . I was the best in my school and i represented my school in debates and quiz competitions then... but no, my name was missing on the admissions list..even to my amazement including the public school and I watched from home how my friends and mates go to and return from school in their uniform while i wait for my own admission. Fast forward... I did pre-degree and I had the best result in the department i chosed and my name was the number one the admission list then but it was recommended i chose another course because that department required credit in a certain subject which I was yet to clear then. I went to the recommended department and the HOD clearly told me there was no more space only for me to see some of my friends who were influential so to say to be accepted into same department weeks after thr HOD turned me down. Moving forward again, i was short listed for a federal government scholarship by the virtue of my G. P but the school coordinator took some of us to a wrong venue only for us to later found out that they had taken their own kids and relatives who even had lesser grade points to the right venue... and I missed it. During my nysc days, i was awarded the MVP in football and number on the state team's list but guess what, i was posted to a very remote village afterwards instead of the state capital because the state coordinator decided so. I wrote UBA's aptitude test and did their interview a year after i completed my NYSC and i was employed. 2 weeks into the training school at UBA house, they came with a letter of disengagement and handed it to about 8 of us in my unit for reasons we do not know till date.

Nigeria in every way is drenched in dishonesty and you see this even in churches and mosques. Why because of an ill mentality to be rich, to reserve slots for family, not to allow others be up to you or to block poverty or hardship to ever come your way. Not everyone pursues the ambition to be listed on forbes or Guinness book..some of us are just after making the world better through our works and lives... HOWEVER YOU CANNOT LIVE IN NIGERIA to achieve this. I personally have a notion that if going by what's written in the bible and by using our human assessment, it would be very hard to make heaven from Nigeria.. Just name any sector there and i will tell you how you can get corrupt or dishonest directly or indirectly.

The realization of this fact by some of us who think deep is what birthed the idea of relocating with the mindset of being who one truly wants to be. The unfortunate thing there is it's so hard and tough to be a 100% honest in Nigeria because you are caught in a web of many filths. Judging from my case, having done all one needs to do humanly and yet the hardwork and grits amount to nothing because some people would want to keep slots for those they know or might have bribed them... one would have no other way to look than to totally leave it to grace and favor of God. We were birthed in such a society that disregards merit and it keeps affecting and hunting us in everything we do.

For me, i think everyone should do their best to take advantage of an opportunity to live a honest and righteous life but believe it or not, no matter how hard we advocate doing the right thing in Nigeria, things are really messed up and we can only preach that people wash themselves off the life of "dagbo" and ruse.. when they board the flight to their redemptive world. NOT ALL NIGERIAN ARE DISHONEST OR HAPPY BEING SO... but the hands, legs and even the mindset are in serious cuffs.
TWoods:

I read my bible and I also see that those who are saved show provable evidence of change in their lives. I see none of that in Nigerians. They are just as dishonest, as fraudulent... they simply cry about grace the loudest.

This is my first time posting here so forgive me if I’m doing anything wrong. I promised myself that if my visa was approved I’d come back and post my transcript here. I don’t want to a be silent lurker and not contribute.

Reading this forum helped me immensely in my application process so I’m posting mine because I know how difficult it can be to find similar transcripts to yours! Here it is:

Age: 21
Course: Masters in Health Informatics
School: George Mason University, Virginia

Visa approved today. 7:15am interview batch. Tall slim man in Window 3.

VO: Good Morning
Me: Good Morning!
VO: Please pass your passport and I-20
Me: Passed it.
VO: *types for a bit* So, why do you want to study Health Informatics?
Me: Mainly to improve my career prospects back here (in Naija). Studying this course will diversify the types of jobs I would be able to apply to and increase the amounts of jobs I’d be able to apply to after I graduate as opposed to just working in a hospital.
VO: *nodding* What types of jobs?
Me: Err like a Data analyst or programming specialist at a hospital or private company. Whichever one takes me first (laughed here and VO laughed)
VO: Who will be paying for your education?
Me: My parents
VO: Okay, what do they do?
Me: My dad is a retired Engineer and my mother is self employed
VO: What does your mum do?
Me: She owns a furniture company, so she buys and sells furnitures, does interior decorating and is also into a bit of real estate.
VO: I see some of your family is accompanying you?
Me: Yes, my mum and my sister are traveling with me for the Christmas holiday before I go to school.
VO: Do they have Visas?
Me: Yes, B-2
VO: Okay Okay, *Still typing*
VO: What did you study in the UK?
Me: Biomedical Science
VO: Oh nice, alright I will be approving your visa... blah blah blah

No documents were asked from me. This is a lovely forum and I hope my transcript will help a future applicant!

If Nigeria as country has nothing good to offer, why don't you get off Nairaland then.
If the country is so bad, why run out to where things are easy.
FYI, you're as guilty as the "Nigerians" you keep mentioning in all your posts.
My candid advice to you is to consider my previous post where I quoted you and learn from it. I have been observing your comments for sometime and I was almost believing that you're either a grumpy person, a pessimist, a sadist or a hater. You don't speak like one who reads the bible like you claimed earlier. I even doubt if you're a Nigerian.
I just pointed the obvious to you. Henceforth, I'd ignore all your posts.

Please can I pay FedEx to pick up my i-20 at my school in ND and deliver it to me here. Is that possible??

That is what FedEx does. However, I will advise you use eshipglobal as they work in partnership with schools and courier service agencies. They will pick your i-20 from your school, and ship to you using FedEx, UPS or DHL. However, UPS and FedEx are the most affordable and it will get to you in 3 - 5 working days. Mine left the school thursday and got to me monday evening. Cheers. All the best

I was denied an F1 visa on the 4th of December. I want to reapply and I've filled my DS-160 form and paid the visa application fee. But I'm having issues scheduling a visa interview as I can find where to book a new interview on my profile in the visa application page. Please anyone that has reapplied before should explain how I can go about it cos I need to schedule on time as my program starts on the 3rd January

Did u by any means fill a new profile with the same email address? You have to mail them if the answer is yes coz ur profile won't be updated if such arises. Better act fast. I experienced same

This is a lovely forum and I hope my transcript will help a future applicant!

congrats

Sure, he can still make it as far he's with the late arrival letter.. but why Jan 8th that's far now. To be on a safer side, he should book and keep on checking the interview dates cos it's always changing o..

Doesn't that mean u can still change ur date after an appointment as been booked?
