mazimee:He didn't exactly get into the Super Eagles on the back of nothingness. Back to back Mvp in Isreal and a solid campaigner in the Europa cup for 2 seasons. He was instrumental when his team claimed the scalp of Inter Milan. He has huge reputation in Isreal. If we trash players for supposed poor performance in their first game, Balogun and Ekong would have been nowhere near this team. 1 Like |

Better players? You mean Martins is bad? Please currently who as a striker in the SE is better than Martins form wise? My stands on this issue is "let's allow the coach do his job". Let's discuss more of our opponents etc OMANBALA1: |

somehow: If Martins was better going by your drift why wasn't he invited even when we needed a top striker and Ighalo was not doing well or injured and Iheanacho was chopping bench. Answer that question and you will deduce why he is not better. The guy is a spent force. Quit trying to force him down our throats. 3 Likes |

I was one of the strongest advocates for the invitation of Martins during the Keshi era. I feel, he did not take his chance when it eventually came. If Rohr invites him, then i hope he can prove himself. |

mazimee:Nwakweme only failed to live up to expectation, you can't really say he messed up completely. l agree though, there may be better options than Nwakweme. I'm not just comfortable judging the ability of players with just a single game even without considering the state of the pitch in Algiers. 4 Likes |

safarigirl: I am bewildered by your reasoning you have been on this forum longer than me, I am sure. With all the informative and substantive discourse available to you here you have not updated your understanding. This is at the heart of your myopic small minded approach to measuring quality and ability. Using the Super Eagles to further thier careers. So in other words you have slaughtered merit and enthroned mediocrity. So because you are younger you are better using your reasoning Ronaldo, Danny Alves, Defoe, Robben, will not be in thier national teams. National team selection is a recognition of outstanding quality and consistent top end performances. It is not to help players further thier careers. Firstly, you perform in your club and league and you get recognised and bigger better clubs come in for you. It's not the national team SE that is a stepping stone for career progression. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Also jugding him just after 40 mins play on a not so good pitch, Aina also flopped on that same pitch, yet was given another chance. Some people here never use leg touch ball before but na their mouth sharp pass when it comes to comdemnng players. goldfish80: 1 Like |

That question should go to the coach, he knows what he wants, no one is forcing anyone down your throat, the way some of you talk self, person go think say na una dey pick players. We have seen some undeserving players the coach called so far, some have not even been given 2 mins play time yet the coach keeps calling them. It's the job of the coach, he knows what he wants, Ezenwa was called in place of betters GKs in the league, so if it's by "how good you are, Ezenwa wouldn't have smelt the SE camp. It's the coach that knows what he wants in a player and if he decides to call Martins or even Macaulay, it's his decision to make which you can do nada about. Some of una self too dey extremely sentimental. Downgrading players that have paid their dues just to promote your bias. OMANBALA1: 1 Like |

Nigerian Journalists are promoting their players. Just read an article about a South African based player. The headline was , "Must ____ break his leg before he is invited to the Super Eagle" Expect to see more ridiculousness as WC approaches.. 3 Likes |

komekn: In team building, cohesion is very important. Have you noticed response time of this current crop of players to invitation? Their behaviour on and off the pitch? Are we improving? Has the players you guys clamouring for shown any form of solidarity with this winning team? Are they passionate enough? What would've been their reaction to money NFF was owing them? These current players were not paid match bonuses for Nigeria vs Algeria match until we were about to play Cameroon. Yet they reported to camp on time. That's passion. Would you rather have a team of players that understand and play collectively or a team with talents with potential yet not achievement? You don't change a winning team anyhow. Yes we have a winning team. Martins and Enyeama have been divisive elements before and yes we are scared that they may yet be again. The records are there. 7 Likes 1 Share |

komekn:you have been here shorterthan I have that is why you will never understand my person or the root of my comments. That is why you will always take everything seriously and write long epistles that only you and your fanboys will read about supposed myopic minds. I am flabbergasted that someone who cannot see beyond his nose or his EPL boys would accuse someone of myopia. You who thinks you know it all in football based on the small circle you have been lucky enough to dance around. Oga, let this be the last time we will have to talk to each other since you simply cannot understand my person. You don't know jack about me, so I would appreciate if you kept whatever inane opinion you have of me to yourself. I cannot even address the crap you wrote because I only saw that attack on my person and best believe, I can give as good as I get if I want to, your status in society be damned. Like I said, let this be the last time we have to even address each other since your brain is so clogged it can only work in one lane.... Thanks and have a good night |

We missed 2006 world cup due to attitude of Okocha, Martins etc. They were always reporting to camp late. We lost to Angola because we paraded a depleted team. 1 Like
