Both are the same, depends on what you want, for me I hate stock Android and so will go for the Mi 5x. Take note that the Mi A1 will get Android upgrades better than the Mi 5x, be sure its like an Android one device.

Stock is too bland for my liking. Infact, if you buy the Mi A1, I take it that you haven't bought a Xiaomi, you need to try out miui.
