Short Story Few Months a Ago I won a Contest Via Crackberry.com called 'Win a Blackberry Keyone with a friend' Hosted on Instagram..

We communicated and they finally sent the device(s) via USPS and sent me the tracking ID

2 days ago I got a call from Nipost that I should come pickup my package of which I received a shocker of my life when I was told I'm to pay custom duty fee of #50,800.. Damn

Even someone importing A full Container of Clothing might not even pay that much.. Talk less of myself that This was sent as a gift with shipping fees fully paid for.. And an Insurance Included..

Please I need help on the relevant authorities to contact to confirm this claim from Nipost, I've sent a mail to their official Email with no response yet.. It's been 2 days now..

*Note: I'm still wondering how an Item worth such little amount would require such exorbitant fee for custom duty clearance..

Why not go to Nipost office and make enquires yourself rather than sending email ?

The guy that called is the same guy that usually delivers stuff to my office and he works with Nipost, anyways tomorrow I'll be there.. But the fee is what's scaring me walahi..

Just go to their office and make enquires yourself and also check the price of the device online and see if it’s worth paying over 50k for .

I don't know of phone o , but whenever I receive smaller package as gift i only pay for receipt fee which is N500. though someone I gave a buying link on nairaland told me she was charge for custom fee and she use dhl

How much was she charged please.. Cos the items included in the said package are 2 BlackBerry KeyOnes

she bought stuff around 600k and she told me she paid around 58k if I remembered correctly. also recently I wanted to bring in some UK used phones and I contacted someone and the price the gave me for ship and clearance was scary so I have to back out though he gave me his reasons has custom wahalah.and also there are shippers you can use here on nairaland and you wouldn't have gone through this. but anyway visit their office to confirm

I paid the fee after going to their office and found out it wasn't SCAM Even though I know the price was way above what I'm supposed to pay..

and they scamed me of 50k

all na scam thru them.
i cant forget hw i paid 50k for iphone 6s wen e newly come out.
i drag.threaten.curse.hang up.insult ndlea.customs and dhl..i even gk dia office threaten them.

e nor move them.
had to pay d funds and my iphone was released on bail.delivered afra two days.still dhl bike man stil bill me anoda 1k.
in d end i sold d phone for 240k.
lost 60k.

In truth i am shocked. I have had about 8 iphones sent to Lagos from USA and i paid about N2,600. 50k was a LOT!

Boss how did you do it cos I'm also expecting a parcel containing the just 1 iPhoneX from Australia and it was sent through registered mail through Nipost. Please do you have an idea of how much I might be using to clear this off when it gets Nigeria??
