blueto: That is misrepresentation and exaggeration. Which respectable commentator made that remark Then ask yourself in the past 6/7 years name one first team Chelsea defender that he us comparable to not even better. Zuma who is much younger is far ahead if him and is on loan at Stoke. Omeruo went to Middlesbrough in 2014 and was far from outstanding. His performances did not create interest in the EPL or in the Championship. Actually the same season and in the same league Dominic Iorfa was getting MOTM awards as a teenager and best young player as a teenager for Wolves. Omeruo has played in quote a few countries in Europe if he was outstanding he would not have settled for the backwaters of Turkey. |

Joebie: You've observed well Bro. He needs to change and fairly address issues without being too emotional when it comes to certain Players. Also he needs to widen his Scouting Network to all Nigerians not a particular Section of Nigeria. Is he a tribal Bigot.......?! No. Is he sentimental..... we are all guilty but he makes his own apparent. 4 Likes |

komekn:I did not “conclude” that Shehu and Aina should play second choice in my post. I only said I prefer Ebuehi in the 3-5-2 formation to play as a wing back and Shehu to play as right back anytime the coach uses a 4 man defence. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Mujtahida: I was responding to comments made by Oasis in the first instance. Secondly, I was watching the game live. Has Osimhen played in the Europa cup championship If he had I probably would watch him. Oh I forgot he hardly makes the bench for Wolfsburg and plays nearly all his games in youth football. Unless I want to go to Germany to watch youth football it's impossible. However, if his team weren't so low in the Bundesliga I might have seen him in the U19's Euro championship. And I rarely if ever talk about Youth games in the context of players performance. If you are playing youth football then you are where the SE concerned not relevant for today future possibly. But then strange thing can happen when personal preference supercedes objective measurement. 1 Like |

blueto:this is a good suggestion. I had that in mind as well Shehu and Aina are full backs as seen against Argentina...Ebuehi is a better Wingback. If Rohr wants a 3-5-2....I suggest he plays Vic Mo as RWB while Ebuehi subs him...or Ebuehi as RWB We save Shehu and Aina for the FB roles 1 Like |

komekn:Omeruo had good display during the tournament in the early stages. As a defender, he kept Nigeria from conceding in two group world cup games. And even the goals that Nigeria conceded in the knock out stage were due to Enyeama's and Yobo's gaffes. So its okay to say he was individually good. Go and watch that match against Bosnia and you will understand why a commentator made such remark. He defended well against Dzeko and others attackers. Why his football seemed to have gone down since then, I don't know. just as how some people think that Onazi have not been good as he was in the same world cup edition. 6 Likes |

This thread is turning into something and all these people that keep quiet and let that nutcase to continue ruining this thread are the real problem. When I suggested we join hands and humiliate that guy out of here everybody started playing human right advocate as if Nigerians understand civility. |

safarigirl:Yes, I'm glad we both share the same opinion on this. Ebuehi recovers well and he should becoming on for Moses in the latter stages but depending on the situation of the game. Wing backs needs more rests because they are expected to cover lots of grounds as they attack and defend. So it will be okay that they are substituted towards the end. 1 Like |

blueto: If you think Moses will play that WB position exactly as he plays for Chelsea then you are on a long thing. In the green and white jerseys, his level of discipline drops, becomes more selfish and may not be able to recover quickly to join the defense as he does for Chelsea. I go with icon4s we need Moses in a more attacking position. Either Aina or Shehu can play as Wing Back or Full back, depending on which formation the coach adopts. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Nobody: 4:40pm On Dec 08, 2017 |
Petrobros:For now it seems the competition is in the Left Back. Aina have been playing as a left back and it seems that is where Rohr want him so one of Idowu/Aina/Echiejile may need to drop. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Petrobros: 4:43pm On Dec 08, 2017 |
blueto: When you are chasing a game would you prefer to change a Wing Back instead of making attacking substitutions? Don't even talk about making substitutions in that position. It is usually not necessary. If you need to seal off a game would you rather change a wing back or introduce an extra midfielder or a defender? |

safarigirl: Madam, forget versatility, taking 5/6 players playing d same role is counter productive, we re not going to Russia to play with wing backs/defenders only!, I sense rohr might drop eida aina/ebuehi,most esp if we are to adopt d new 3-5-2 formation in our group matches and hopefully beyond d group stage too |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Petrobros: 4:49pm On Dec 08, 2017 |
elyte89: It is the emotion of not letting go of any of those players. The truth is Aina and Ebuehi are the two least players in the pecking order. At least one of them painfully may not make Russia. |

Petrobros:it's a total of 8 defenders....if some inclusions look too bad, feel free to draft Shehu into the Midfield slots, so you can have 7 defenders... You take players according to possible formations, do you not? 2 Likes 1 Share |

elyte89: I can draft a 23-man list with eight defenders and it would work. The World Cup is just eight games at most at a stretch, so, I don't see what is counterproductive to anything. 2 Likes |

Petrobros:Thank you my brother, moses WB in super eagles?not possible, this was our highest goal scorer during qualifiers as an attacker, meaning he will continue as FW. I believe with Shehu, Aina,Echiejele, Idowu,Ebuhei we should not have problem with 3-5-2.Aina,Ebuhei,Idowu does it as RWB in their clubs week in week out and we saw Idowu and. Aina doing it as LWB against Argentina. Also Shehu a midfieder who can do it as RB and RWB though with average performance against Argentina like Aina and we have experience Echiejele. My man with all these solid fullbacks Vic Moses should maintain his natural position. |

Actually, I don't mind him playing with the U23 team ... that's definitely better than sitting on the bench week in week out. I just want him to be out there playing to maintain fitness and sharpness. Then in Russia, he can show them what he's got! O pari goldfish80: |

safarigirl:Yes 23 man list can absorbed eight defenders but i see defenders who are versatile making the team. Shehu Abdullahi (midfielder/ RB) Bryan Oladapo Idowu (RB/LB/WB) Ebuhei (RB/LB/WB) Aina Ola (RB/LB/WB) Elderson Echiejele (LB) *Leon Balogun (CB/RB) *Troost Ekong (CB) Awaziem (CB/RB) Kenneth Omeruo (CB/RB) Uche Agbo (CB/DM) I pick Ekong and Leon now remain six to add cos am seeing Rohr picking eight. |

Please closely watch Victor Moses when he plays for Chelsea versus when he plays for Nigeria. Let me tell you what you'd find: He's still holding onto the ball too long when he plays for Nigeria, he doesn't do that in Chelsea. Granted he's playing in a different role. He still engages in excessive dribbling when he plays for Nigeria, maybe not as bad as before but he still does that, but he has learned to release the ball promptly when he plays for Chelsea. Again, we gotta consider that he's playing in a different role at Chelsea. Furthermore, and most importantly, it doesn't make a lot of sense to deploy your best and most creative player as a Wingback. He should be deployed in the final third creating and scoring goals. That's just like Chelsea playing Eden Hazard as RWB or Barca playing Messi in that role. Moses should have a free role in the midfield ... we need his trademark dribbles runs and incisive passes to unlock tight defenses. O pari Mujtahida: 2 Likes |
