OMANBALA1:Idowu is not a natural left back but a solid RB,i watched him against Rostov on the right side, though versatile like Aina and Ebuhei. |

Icon79:He dazzled with all these attributes against African teams in Afcon, but how did he fare against world cup teams with quality defenses in 2014? To unlock sturdy defenses, you need quick incisive exchange of passes like what we saw against Argentina, not the acts of holding the ball for long and making excessive dribbles. A good defense may keep such a player from scoring or causing major havoc. We have friendlies coming up, so the coach should play him as a wing back in one of those games or more and lets really see how he will fare before the world cup proper. 1 Like |

blueto: Moses will not play wing back for us. E no go happen. If we have to play a 3-5-2 formation Moses would pair Kelechi up front. We would play without a 9 in most of our games in the World Cup. |

Huh? Omo, do you know something we don't know? How do you know that Rohr plans to play him as a Wing Back during the upcoming friendlies? I am not doubting you .... just asking out of curiosity. O pari blueto: |

Queens Park Rangers captain Nedum Onuoha is set to return to action after spending three months on the sidelines due to a hamstring complaint. The versatile central defender last played for QPR against Millwall on September 12, when he had to be substituted at half-time after he tore his hamstring. The Hoops have provided a positive update on Onuoha's injury via their official website, stating that he has resumed full training and is in contention to feature against Leeds United on Saturday, December 9. He has been training with the first-team squad for the past fortnight and came through a 60-minute training game at Harlington on Tuesday unscathed. Born in Warri to Nigerian parents 31 years ago, Onuoha is now ready to play for his country of birth after declining an offer to represent the Super Eagles at the 2010 World Cup. The Manchester City product previously represented England at U20 and U21 level. Ifeanyi Emmanuel |

Icon79: I have hammered on VicMo indiscipline and complacency on so many occasion here. I know he is the highest goal scorer during our qualifiers but have you wondered why nigga has zero influence in the team....His commitment is questionable. At chelsea fc nigga is cool headed and plays to instructions but as soon as he puts on that Nigerian shirt he basically say ffuck you all. H e can contribute to the team but remove the "NEED" part. Super Eagle can win and even play better football without Victor Moses. 1 Like |

kentebemoney:It is about playing him in where he will be most effective in the world cup and if you have been following this thread then you will have seen the reasons why I gave such submission. And who says Nigeria can't play without a 9 if Moses is not playing an offensive role? The last time we played such, Moses was not on the pitch, and we got a good result. |

Kog45: I dont understand what you mean by " not a natural left back but a solid right back". Are you saying he is more comfortable playing at RB or that he uses both legs equally well ? |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon79(m): 6:18pm On Dec 08, 2017 |
I don't think he's doing it on purpose though. He's just exceptionally skillful and often gets carried away when he starts to enjoy the game. Jay Jay Okocha was the same way. And I heard the same thing about Etim Esin though I don't really remember watching him play sha. However, I do agree that he plays with much more discipline at Chelsea but that's because he knew that the competition at Chelsea is fierce. Any major mistake would imply a seat back on the reserve bench. I mean, you gotta be extra cautious when you have folks like Williams, Pedro etc waiting for you to make a mistake so they can pounce and take your position O pari OMANBALA1: 2 Likes |

kentebemoney: Are you gonna be using Shehu and Idowu as wing backs or what? If so, how well do you think they can adjust in that role....Remember we have tried Shehu there and it was disastrous. |

OMANBALA1:Idowu is a natural RB but sometimes does it as LB for his club though comfortable in both but more solid as RB. |

chrisooblog: Joel Obi also had long periods of sustained performance for Inter milan for two seasons though he spent most times on the bench the second season. Last season, he played 11 matches before he got injured and a total of 20 games but with limited time. His case is not different from a Roben Arten but will you drop Robben if you are the coach because of his tendency of getting injured? |

But is it too late to learn how to trap ball? He wasn't the only one phased out of man city, (Yaya toure, etc), yet those ones haven't lost what they are made of. Pep did same with Eto, toure, ibrahimovich etc at Barcelona but these players didn't diminish, I think he did same with some young players too who ended up becoming stars kennysville: Tiago's career was almost ruined by one of Barca's coaches when he was there due to lack of play time even when he was supposed to be playing until he moved to Bayern, he's now a star there. Nobody can stop anyone's shine without the permission of the person. If you're good you are good. No room for blaming, he should step up and train himself like other bests do. 1 Like |

kentebemoney:we can't play Leon and Echiejile in such a line-up, except you want to kill Troost. They are slow....so, Echiejile should be replaced with Awaziem, make Troost know where him struggle go dey. Kelechi and Iwobi have a better understanding of each other than he and Vic Mo...I would play Vic Mo as a WB. We tried Shehu there recently and it was disastrous, so he will have to sit it out in such a formation. 5 Likes 1 Share |
