Please, my brothers in here, I have some questions to ask and I need different responses from all possible angles to be so sure.. I ' m studying ( Education Biology ) in UNILAG and I have failed to be admitted to NDA 2wice and my ambition is to become a Navy officer but not a low ranked one, I would have went for its recruit.. I heard any NDA graduant gets the ( Lit. Colonel ) title and those that have Degree ( 4 years university course ) before going for the 1 year course of vigorous training also secure the Lit. Colonel title - 1. How true is this ? 2. Do I stand a chance of securing the Lit. Colonel title studying a course like ( Education Biology ) after the Short term service ( 1 year training ) ? 3. Is there payment of school fees in NDA ?
1. NDA RC graduating cadets get the one-star lieutenant not the Lt-colonel (which is a far higher rank). After six months they become substantive lieutenants.
2. As for SSCs intake ,it is 9 months training and not 1-year. Service time for SSCs is shorter, about 9 yrs only (that's why it is called short service) ,to go further one has to convert to the DRC. Also note that the DRC conversion is not done on a regular basis,so most SSCs end up as either majors or captains, though some eventually reach Generalship. But as of now it is getting harder.
3.NDA doesn't pay tuition fees except for those going to the post graduate school for their masters degree. BTW, naval SSCs don't train in any of the NDA sites.

When discussing military related issues ,we should allow for subtle distinctions in synonymous words, e.g (special forces and special operations forces, or covert and clandestine e.t.c) to remove any form of ambiguity.
Withdrawal is different from dismissal in NDA.
Withdrawn cadets are entitled to certain priveleges such as their compulsory savings,re-application to the academy, e.t.c
A dismissed cadet enjoy no such entitlements. It is the highest form of punishment awarded by the Commandant.

"you think say academy na polac"...that a common saying in NDA. As for job wait till you get there, "who no come, no go know"that's another saying.
