Crisis brewing in the Imo State House of assembly may have escalated following the Assembly’s endorsement of Governor Rochas Okorocha’s son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, as a governorship aspirant in 2019.
Nwosu is currently the Chief of Staff in the Government House.

The House Committee Chairman on Petroleum, Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission and Niger Delta Development Commission, Henry Ezediaro, said Nwosu was the most qualified to take over from his father-in-law, Okorocha.

Ezediaro, who spoke at a press conference in Owerri, the state capital, on Saturday, said the decision to endorse Nwosu was reached after the majority of the state’s lawmakers declared him the best to run for the position.

He said, “After meeting with the members of the House of Assembly, we, irrespective of party affiliations, have endorsed Ugwumba Uche Nwosu. We urge him to contest the poll. If he does, we will support him to be the governor in 2019.

“On behalf of the lawmakers, we want to use this medium to appeal to the governor and thank him for his free education policy in the state, but without Uche Nwosu, the policy may die and that is why we want him to continue from where he will stop.”

The lawmaker denied there is a crisis in the House.
“The house is not in a crisis, we just disagreed on some issues,” Ezediaro added.

Now Okorocha just proves his nepotism is second to none. The Assembly puppets should just vacate their seats already and let Rocha's children come in.

This is what you get when your so-called "House of Assembly" is no more than a gathering of the incumbent's political thugs,official sycophants and praise singers. What you get is what is known the world-over as a "rubber stamp". In Imo's case a rubber stamp House of Assembly. By law they are supposed to act as a check on the excesses of the governor but due to the fact that he(the governor) planted them in there to do his biddings,they find themselves dancing to every tune the governor plays: be it afrobeat,hip-hop,fuji,high life,raggae,blues,raggae fusion e.t.c.,e.t.c. So sad they have chosen to dance to the raggae this time and that might end up "ragga-ing" the state totally.

That is why most of the seats in the state assemblies across Nigeria follow this pattern: APC governor->98-100% APC dominated HOA. PDP governor->98-100% PDP HOA and so on and so forth. It helps the governor circumnavigate that thorny aspect of legislative checks and balances. Same thing these hoodlums called governors do with the LGAs. Party loyalty first. It's like a bloody fiefdom where the governor as the overlord appoints his loyalists as barons and vassals whilst the people just live as serfs with no real bloody say. Those things called elections are nothing but sham. Those are in reality SELECTIONS. A selection of the governor's "loyal boys".
