Good. So what then happens when the interest is not taken upfront but re-invested? Going by the example you used below,i want to believe the true yield and ROI will be more if profit is re-invested. ositadima1: 1 Like |

Good morning people, Please I have an important question and was hoping I get answers here. I need urgent funds for something. Although I had a budget for this particular thing and kept money aside for it, but we know not everything goes as planned in this life. Now, What would be a better option.. To terminate one of my treasury bills that is due to mature in May, although I might lose very little because I bought it at 18.4% Or To just take money from my dollar account and change to naira with the hope of replacing it later. Which option would a smart investor go for? Note: the thing I need the money for is in no way yielding any profit for me. |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by amjustme2: 7:36am On Dec 09, 2017 |
Only you know the answer to that. Terminating TB will result in penalty How much is the funds on your Dom account yielding?? Should decide to take from there, ask them to pay you in USD You can exchange locally for maximum amount. anitank: |

Morning to you all, nice work you've been doing so far. I currently hold an account with GT and am interesting in investing in Tbills however due to the nature of my job, am not chanced to visit the bank and make enquiries. Please I need a date for the next sales, when can I walk in to the bank to purchase and who do I meet exactly? I intend investing 1.250m for 90days. |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by sunvick(m): 12:23pm On Dec 09, 2017 |
Well done guys, this thread has been very informative. Please I will like to ask, why is that TB rate vary among banks after bidding with CBN? |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by olujaidi: 7:53pm On Dec 09, 2017 |
sunvick: Because while CBN decides the marginal rate, the banks bid competitively. That's why it is called an auction. Now, there is a range of successful bid rates. If the bank's rate falls within this band, it will be allocated NTB based on its bid rate. If the bank's rate falls outside this band, it is a failed bid. This explains why a bank might be unsuccessful at a PMA |

@Alikote Forget the Short selling . It only work if u decide to SELL and not INVEST again or SELL and wait for RATE to INCREASE/DROP again.which is time consuming and not guarantee Example below 1) : bought at 17.3 and sold at 15.6 Then 2wk or 2mths later buy again at 15.6 ..if the rate doesnt drop . 2) buy at 17.3...sale at 15.60 then u start praying for next auction bid to fall 15.10 so u can buy again ? what if it takes 2-4mth for rate to drop significantly ? 2-4mth someone else is getting 13% 3) factor in how long it might take for rate to drop significally ? could take 2weeks to 3mth what if the rate become stable at the price u sold it ealier ? IN A LAY MAN LANGUAGE , YOU BID at 17.3% PER ANNUM IN JANUARY 2017.WHICH IS TO MATURE DECEM,BUT U SOLD IN MAY AT 15.6% , THEN U WAITED FOR AUGUST JUST FOR RATE TO DROP THEN U BID AGAIN IN AUGUST AT 15.6 OR BELOW FOR 1YR. BUT UR INNITIAL INVESTMENT WILL NOW MATURE IN AUGUST 2018 INSTEAD OF DECEMBER 2017. BUT ME I BID AT 17.3% PER ANNUM IN JANUARY 2017.AFTER MATURITY IN DEC 2017 I GOT MY MONEY+INTEREST THEN I BID AGAIN SAME DECEMBER AT 15.16% OR WHATEVER RATE TO MATURE IN AUGUST AT THE END IT STILL THE SAME THING AM DOING AS ILLUSTRATED ABOVE. Last year i was on this treasury bill thread , trying to explaine to chukzyfcbb about inflation .even with my examples he still don't understand. @chukzyfcbb IT Over a year now even with ur interest in t.bill wat can u buy at the market now ? As i said a year ago, T.BILL is only better dan savings account.SIMPLE. GOD BLESS. 3 Likes |

tritritri:lol Mr tritri, you still haven't forgotten our heated debate we had over a year now, lol. Tbills is not the best investment but its sure amongst the safest. Plus remember we discussed so many things then Realestate vs Tbills Inflation vs True yield. Its all good sha, it was one of the most heated and intelligent discuss this thread has had in a long while, lol #Nice to read your comment here again Meanwhile I do a little of Crypto trading by the side too anything for diversification. 1 Like |

chukzyfcbb: @chukzyfcbb Crypto trading very risky but I luv diversification , one of the best way to Reduce/manage RISK. Crypto return is superb but only for the experienced who knows how to take calculated risk. It is not easy.life itself is not easy. My advice to anyone Reading this : Only do T.BILL when U discover ur a spender. Only do T.BILL When u have NO OTHER OPTION than SAVINGS ACCOUNT. But DON'T MISS ANY GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY BECAUSE OF T.Bill ( in real life ur decieving urself. ) Still av more to say. But dont want to derail the thread. cheers Happy Sunday . 5 Likes |

Good morning TB investors, The TB auction opened on Friday to close on Monday by 12noon. I bidded with First Bank on Friday and after filling the form I was expecting them to remove the fund as usual but the fund is still there till now. Is anyone experiencing the same or there is something about the first quarter bid that I don't know? I will appreciate the response of the Gurus in the house. Thanks |

einsteino: I'M not TALKING ABOUT ANY INVESTMENT ...Am talking about T.BILL PERSONALLY and the Unknown Risk involve that most don't even know. HOW CAN YOU REACH UR POTENTIALS WHEN UR FUND IS ALWAYS LOCKED YEAR IN YEAR OUT? If i decide to share my examples of opportunity lost becos of T.BILL all of u will pity me. In ur RESPECTIVE FIELD OF LIFE. THERE R OPPORTUNITIES BUT because UR VESTED IN TBILL. U LIKELY MAY NOT TOUCH OTHER SIDE. Am not asking u not to do T.BILL. All am saying is Opportunity / time / WILL NOT ALWAYS BE THERE WAITING. That is the more i have to say...WISH U ALL THE BEST. (You're 25 and doing T.BILL , Continue i wonder how u will become successful when other OPPORTUNITIES pass u by in REAL LIFE in ur respective field ) 1 Like |

tritritri:Honestly, you've said it all. I had to delve into crypto (bitcoin) with Usi-tech. My greatest regrets is not joining it early enough. I was busy doing Tbills only basically out of fear not to lose money. Bitcoin is now over $15,000. @Feelamong introduced bitcoin with Usi-tech to me. Just request to be added to the Usi-tech whatsapp group, honestly you will learn alot and convinced to invest. |

Singlecliq: Fxmanager is the same risk. You ask him if your money is 99% guarantee and trust if he say yes ask him for signed agreement with you because you need it as evidence/proof. Those telling you about forex, bitcoin, bla, bla, bla, watch them when the kasala will burst you will be shocked. Yes its paying and sweet now, but trust me they can never have hours of sleep like those in Treasury Bills because anything can happen. In Treasury Bills, you think First Bank or GTB or StanbicIBTC can vanish within a very short years? CAPITAL NO! Treasury Bills is the best for now. You will have your investment certificate that will show all the investment details, your money is very safe with your bank! You can use your Treasury Bill certificate as collateral for loan, apply for visa applications as proof of investment, e.t.c. All you need to do is to Just visit your bank and tell them you want to invest in Treasury Bills and insist on Treasury Bills but not fixed deposit, then the rest will be history. Very simple, plain and safe! Please don't get me wrong, i am not saying Forex and Bitcoin biz are not paying, yes they're paying big time... my point is : YOU WILL HAVE 100% REST OF MY MIND AND YOU WILL SLEEP WELL WITH Treasury Bills and even Mutual Funds. May God bless Investnow2017, Alikote and others on this thread for me. Some people won't understand why i said that! Good luck to all investors on this thread! 11 Likes 2 Shares |
