Pastor Adenuga has said it all...people are not tired of paying tithe, they are only tired that the tithe been paid is not been used in the way of the lord. Now they enrich themselves with the hard earned money of the congregation....

They are quick to discuss TIithing but refuse to comment on Lybia slave trade.

They refuse to use their massive wealth to help the needy and improve the economy at large.

They prefer to compete with one another on who is richer and who owes the better private jet.

Is it an abormination for a pastor to help his congregation?

Is it wrong to give free tertiary education to members of your church having in mind that they contributed to build the said university?

God will judge!

'I want to assure you that tithing is scriptural. But you don’t use tithes to run your personal businesses or improve your family’s welfare by sending your children to the best schools. For God’s sake, it is meant to serve the church and the poor. Tithes are not for personal prosperity. There should be an account for not only tithes but money collected in the name of the church. There should be no monopoly of money collected, neither should the accounts be hidden.— Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama, President of Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigerian and Catholic Archbishop of Jos

"If you ask to know the biblical reference, is it because of what you want to give to God? Has God not given more to us? Our welfare, the food, the planet, the water we drink, the air we breathe: are they small? Now, we want to give one-tenth to God and they are grumbling and saying they want to know the biblical basis. I am the biblical base for it and I am giving my testimony now; that the more I give to God, the more God gives to me. I am not going into that debate. Until I die and see my God, I will not go into that debate."

Imagine o! They want to help us send the tithes to Lord.

Nice one

Tithing is not for Christians.

Christians don't tithe,
Foolish Christians who don't know their left from the right spiritually tithe.

Pastors are more concerned about tithe than salvation.
Where a man's treasure is, that's where his heart is.
Do not pay tithes or offerings, we must help weed out pastors whose sole aim in ministry is exploiting people and amassing wealth.

No to Tithe!!!!
I do not tithe, I am wealthy and blessed all around.
You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.

If truly you are rich, you will not be in nairaland, seeing you typing this rubbish, it shows that poverty is your name.

Let tithe alone. Don't deceive people. Let them decide about their lives.

You and daddy freeze need serious deliverance.

The bible is also clear about cutting off your wife hands in the same Deuteronomy.
Deuteronomy 25:11-12 And about how a castrated person shouldn't enter the house of the lord.
Deuteronomy 23:1

I am surprised why your pastors sees only the tithing part.

Once has God spoken twice have I heard.
Tithing is so biblical I wonder why it's disputed.
Apart from d numerous Old Testament references on tithing,
in d New Testament Jesus commended d Pharisees for tithing but told them they need to pay more attention to love etc. Matth 23:23, Luke 11:42.

After Jesus death n ressurection, Paul referenced tithing in Heb 7:5,6,9 and in verse 8 it even states that u r a witness that Jesus lives by tithing.

Also, Catholics are under no obligation to pay a certain percentage of their income to the church as a tithe. In the early history of our church, the priests depended upon the generous support of congregations for their sustenance. This custom was based on the New Testament instruction: Jesus taught the apostles to depend upon charity when He sent them on a mission (see Matthew 10:10)

Your tithes cannot run tertiary institutions. Lets stop deceiving ourselves. A pepper seller who drops 5K monthly as tithe and has 5 children really expects those 5 to go to covenant university? Its not possible. The uni will be run down eventually or the standard worse than public institutions. Unless of course members like yourself agree to offer their services free of charge which is also not possible because your family has to feed.
A building means nothing. Its just like govt building structures about calling them hospitals without thinking of the running cost of such in terms of equipment, man power . At the end of the day , such hospitals become abandoned buildings last last.
I know a lot of civil servants whose children go to private unis. They are still meeting some needs. If not for private unis, there'll be more uneducated folks out there

1. But where is it written that you should bring 10% of your profit/salary every month in a calender month?
2. What about pensioners, do they pay tithe on their pensions also, mind you these pensions are removed before the salaries are paid, and therefore are not part of the salary?
