noblemann1: This thread caters to those who wish to apply for F1 visa. So everything here revolves round that - standardized exams to write, picking a school, applying to the school, attending your visa interview and travelling. Along those lines. You may not get the advice you seek on this particular thread. I said "may" because someone here may know whatever Erasmus mundus is and how to go about it... but it's not very likely. I suggest you search more ideal threads for that question. 1 Like |

LagosismyHome: Grace and favor does not come into play when it comes to a US visa. There is no grace and favor when the Japanese apply for an F1 visa, it's a smooth and easy process... no need for long prayers, incantations and false piety. The visa process isn't subjective in decent countries like Norway or Sweden or Singapore. There if you're qualified, you get the visa. Easy. It is subjective in Nigeria only because we have so bastardized the visa process that VOs are now left to assume, by default, that every Nigerian will lie on their application. They now have 3 minutes or less to decide if that is true in your case or not. The unfortunate outcome of this is that many who are genuine are going to be denied, not because they were not qualified, but they are simply collateral damage in the jungle that Nigeria has become. Over on the other thread, someone was asking for "God" to bless the hustle of someone who clearly stated he was going to obtain a B1 visa to stay illegally in the US. The fellow ended it by saying that the hustle will "end in praise". I read stuff like this and i really just want to puke. For a people so corrupt, almost every page here is littered with reference to God... which God exactly? The Nigerian version who is just as much a corrupt "hustler" as we are? 31 Likes 1 Share |

Mitchely: Lol you're a joke. You have a visa interview, that you've been aware of for weeks. An interview that cost you in terms of an application fee, fees for standardized exams and air tickets. This interview is literally the crux on which your future hangs... and you were late for it... and we are the ones with the problem for not understanding why you were late? It seems to me that some people simply make comments, just for the sake of it. Don't worry, when he gets to the US, he should expect his professor to understand why he was late to his exam, although i worry that their "high learning" might not qualify them to understand. I thought Americans were picky about being on time, then i went for a meeting in Germany... Nigerians were still sleeping. 7 Likes |

TWoods: Funny that I never mentioned you, but you are still quick to come jump to conclusions. I did not justify his lateness, but will also not mock him without knowing why and also pointing him in the right direction. The guy could have had an accident on his way, or even been sick or any other circumstance beyond his control (and yes, these occur much more frequently in a 'zoo' than in the perfect life you are so used to now). Professors in the US (I can show you emails) will investigate why (and make provisions for him for a genuine reason) and never mock him the way you do. It is funny how you have stayed in a Society where people are generally very friendly and willing to help, but it appears not to have rubbed off on you. I surely do hope it is only when you interact with the 'animals and fraudsters' in your so-called 'zoo' that you exhibit such. 22 Likes |

Mitchely: How so? By showing him where to buy an alarm clock? I'll let you have the last word, but i find it utterly ridiculous that you're going to this length to justify being late to a visa interview. Methinks it has less to do about him... Americans are generally very friendly... try showing up late to a meeting and see how willing they are to help you. 2 Likes |

Mitchely: A typical American wouldn’t help or listen to your excuses if you don’t meet up to time. The best they can do is to console you and you’ll be left to deal with your problems. Out here, Time isn’t something to be joked around with. You really think Americans are emotional? 3 Likes |

Saucekide25: Make sure you have resolved the reasons you were rejected the first time, if not they'll likely reject your application again. Generally 1. Show how you will cover your expenses without having to take up employment (20 hours on campus per week is the hours you Can work legally) or recourse to public funds 2. Show your ties to Nigeria ( why you will return after your studies etc). A successful business, your daddy's firm -being groomed as next CEO etc - your wife and kids are here and she works in a good place etc, you still have your job waiting that you're on a study leave (evidence like your ID, approval letters, employment letter etc) 3. It helps if you have travelled out in the past to another developed country 4. Look into the interviewer's eye, smile. Averting your eyes is Respect to a Nigerian, but arouses suspicion in America 5. Be Frank and truthful 6. Be confident, don't beg, don't stammer 11 Likes 3 Shares |

TWoods:The problem is that you never gave him any advice in your initial response but passed your impetuous judgment as usual. You know what is hypocritical.? Screeching that non-immigrant visa is not for immigration purposes when you have refused to return to Nigeria after leaving on a non immigration visa. There are other numerous instances of your hypocrisy that I don't have time to get to at the moment. You have to be careful because you are becoming nothing but A TROLL Sir. I am finally done responding to you. Good night. 21 Likes |

Time2Smile: The term "troll"... the favorite word used by those who lack the intellectual wherewithal to have a debate, the last refuge of the dimwitted. 1. I actually provided my advice, you just didn't like it, because it did not square with yours... so you chose to cry louder than the bereaved. 2. If you had read my post at all, i asked that he take Lagosismyhome's advice, which was to wait and try his luck again. Rather you chose to harrumph about how it is his right to demand that the US consulate take into account the emotional toll the separation is taking on his family. My response was to let you know that a) obviously the VO who interviewed his wife did not think that was a viable argument and hence denied her F2 visa application and b) using that as an argument is a complete waste of time, as the VO could essentially tell you to come back to Nigeria to school if you're that worried about the family being separate for too long. It is not the responsibility of the US government to keep your family together - you didn't like that, so of course you've gone on a campaign of equally incoherent screeds yourself. 3. While non-immigrant visas are not for immigration purposes, the law also allows you to convert to an immigrant visa. Millions of Nigerians have done that successfully. Professor Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe are just a few examples. Nothing special there. Infact that was never the point of the debate at all... you seem to be all over the map, obviously because you're upset, not because you had a valid point to make. 4. There is nothing i have to be careful about, i don't waste time taking advice from faceless bots who call everyone else trolls when they disagree with them. Have a nice life sir. 7 Likes |

TWoods: There is a place of Grace and Prayers, Not only Nigerians pray when going for Visa Interviews, Indians pray (Go to Indian Visa Interview Threads), Iviorians Pray, Rwandese Pray,Congolese Pray,Egyptians Pray. I,ve stayed in some of these countries, and at least i know a little bit of what goes on. Its not peculiar to Nigeria, because 160$ Application fee is very affordable for you, doesnt mean it is affordable for others, 160$ Visa Fee is what some people here make in a month, In India for instance, the average monthly salary of a fresh graduate is around 300 USD, why will a graduate with a genuine Intention not pray to get his Visa Once and for all( There are so many people Going for Interviews, which Makes the probability of Rejection High), some even make lesser, So why will they not pray to get thier Visa Once instead of reapplying. Because you live in America, doesnt make you better than these people Let me tell you, I never believed getting a Visa is so hard, but it was when i got to the Embassy in Lagos, that i discovered that, truly its not easy to get a Visa, because there were many people there, about 200 in just one day at least 80 percent of this people will be denied(Because the intention of Many will be to Emmigrate, The Likelihood of mixing people with genuine intentions and people whose intentions are not genuine is very High), the countries you mentioned, Norway, Sweden, dont need to pray, they dont even need to go to the USA in the first Instance, Only Few people apply for Visa, thier country is good enough, only few people emmigrate or go to the USA for one thing or the other. Please Go through the article below, you will discover Nigeria is even better Reference: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-33161672 Indians pray at visa temples to go abroad 19 Likes 2 Shares |
