MetalJigsaw: Team chemistry? Shehu, Balogun, Ekong, Omeruo, Echiejile, Onazi, Musa, Moses, Mikel all played with Enyeama. When clamoring for Uzoho, Alampasu and Okoye you didn't think of Chemistry. The goalkeeping department for the World cup is for EXPERIENCED Goalies. Even Akpeyi and Ezenwa don't have that kind of Experience. This is not like the case of Peter Rufai that was on vacation and was callrd up less than 3weeks to the WC. We just need Enyeama to be back to active goal keeping. We still have a couple of friendlies to assess and reintegrate him into the team. So your problem is now about who becomes team captain? 2 Likes |

Kog45: From the bolded its obvious that you still didn't get my point. Ejide's howler was an error(even though it was contested as match fixing but he was cleared). A very rare error from Ejide who we all know was a good keeper bested by Enyeama only as at that time. Comparing Ejide to Akpeyi is like comparing USA to Nigeria in terms of development, they are miles apart. It is an insult to Ejide by even attempting to compare him with Akpeyi. Listen and listen good, Akpeyi is a horrible keeper, he is not good , he is a calamity waiting to happen. On his good days he is still error prone, then on his bad days,... Well I refuse to make comments You are an elder here, you have been following the Eagles right from the 70s and 80s yet you still hold brief for Akpeyi. Can you honestly picture Akpeyi as our keeper in goal at USA 94, at France 98, at Korea/Japan 02, at S/A 2010?..... At those tournaments, we went with our best and they kept the scoreline low against the world best teams. I don't want to remind you how well Peter Rufai kept both Bulgaria and Greece at bay before we won. I don't want to remind you how ike shorumu kept Argentina at bay before they managed a 1-0 respectable victory over us. I don't want to remind you how Enyeama kept messi at bay while he kept tormenting our defence at will at 2010 world cup. Now picture Akpeyi in goal on those occasions. If you still seriously believe that Akpeyi deserve to be in Russia next year then I will believe too that you are either lying to yourself or you have a hidden agenda pushing for him. Newsflash, assuming Akpeyi resumed second half in the Argentina game friendly, we wouldn't have won because he probably would have committed one of his school boy errors again. That I am sure of. Many times we see Akpeyi in the line up at the viewing center where I watch my matches, we all become jittery , murmuring, and we start praying. Tension everywhere... I believe his colleagues on the field feels the same too. He doesn't inspire confidence at all, a team's psychic is very important and a keeper leaking needless goals is definitely a source of big worry. Haven't you noticed, whenever Akpeyi keeps we concedes and lose the match 90% of time. This is not me being bias or hating him. Let him go sort out whatever is hunting him and leave our SE for us in peace... Someone should not come and have HBP on top an Agbaya that has refused to grow 1 Like |

Let him show interest, and if he doesn't,let's manage d ones we av.TEAM CHEMISTRY/BONDING IS KEY BTW,his inclusion or not won't determine aw far we would go in d tournament... MY opinion # 8 Likes |

Icon4s:Answer my question of who will be the team captain since you can seen the future. Don't you know that that issue issue is a potential jeopardizer of the team togetherness? You're surely the type of dude that easily gets emotionally attached to a woman and keep begging and licking her ass even if she clearly doesn't want you. Thank goodness Rohr doesn't think the way you do. I thank God that Rohr doesn't have your kind of mentality. |

elyte89: There is a lot of difference between begging and convincing. Nobody is gonna beg anybody. Which Team chemistry are we talking about here? Which stands a higher risk of distorting team chemistry? Return of a veteran goalie that played with all 4 of the current regular defenders or introduction of a Rookie goalie? Forget about issue of bonding. Enyeama is a father figure in that team. Just like what Ike Shoronmu was to the 2002 WC team. We need an experienced goalie in that fold abeg. On your last paragraph, then in that case why worry about Akpeyi? Since, from that statement, it doesn't matter who is in goal. Do you know how many life saving saves Enyeama made for us in our last 2 World cups? I can never forget the last effort save he made against Bosnia in the 2014 WC. That singular save ensured we won that game and at the end of the day counted for us to qualify from that group. Think of the kind of pressures we usually find ourselves in world cups and the kind of saves Enyeama makes .Do you think all those Rookie goalies can make such? 1 Like 1 Share |

Enyeama did not perform magic the last three World Cups he went for and he will not perform magic now. He is just as error prone as any other goalie we have, but his own error is that he is too short to see a corner kick and it is not hard for opponents to score from that angle If he must come back, let us not make the error of fielding him against the Argentines because dem don see am finish for that team and they will play him the suwe they always play him Before he will dash his bestie two goals 6 Likes |

MetalJigsaw: If the issue of captaincy is your priority in this matter, then sorry, you have a misplaced priority. The Enyeama that I know will even prefer not to contest any captaincy band with anybody. The more important issue should be if Enyeama is still sharp enough to give us that cover. Leave Rohr and the team to decide on the captaincy abeg. |

Icon4s:abeg o, Enyeama is nobody's father figure.... A father that abandoned his children when they needed him the most because he had disagreement with officials? That is a deadbeat dad, irresponsible father. Currently, Mikel is the father who stepped in when the deadbeat dad jumped ship, so let us not give Enyeama an unmerited position Enyeama's position now is like that father that abandons his kids during rough times and then another nan steps in (Mikel) to take care of them and once the kids have reached a respectable status in society, the deadbeat dad wants to leech off of them just because he provided sp3rm. Let us not give anyone unmerited position because we want them back. Enyeama is a betrayer of trust, because of his ego he betrayed the trust of players who looked up to him and now we want to forget that because we have refused to trust the current guys there? Icon abeg, that one I no go gree. Enyeama is not an important entity anymore in the Super Eagles, nobody dey look am as anything again. He is not the superhuman goalie many are making him out to be, he is not even the spiritual father I used to think he was. He's just an outsider looking to use a privileged position to get in 2 Likes 1 Share |

Icon4s:magic that did not lead to us winning? Ikeme could have performed that magic...he is at least tall enough to see the ball coming from a corner. Uzoho has same attributes, but we haven't seen enough of him and that is why Enyeama is your issue.....apart from the fact that you like older players of course 1 Like 1 Share |

safarigirl: "Ikeme could have...." you said? Ikeme is no where near Enyeama at his prime. Nigerians, we forget too soon. And Uzoho is now the likely Magician that will perform the magic that Enyeama could not perform over 3 WC and 5 AFCONS and lots of WC and AFCON qualifiers in between. Abeg fear God small abeg. Icon4s:he will not even be given the level of respect Yobo has even as Yobo scored OG at his own last World Cup. We can all slate Oliseh in his handling of their spat, but we must not give Enyeama any pass for his own controbution as well. A veteran goalie behaving in that manner was shameful...even his behaviour prior to that was shameful and divisive but his performance between the sticks always made us forget that Enyeama is a proper BRAT. 1 Like 1 Share |

safarigirl: U don finish matter be dat! No addition. I make bold to say if Enyeama was the one goalie that went to Olympics with the eagles and the issues that befell the team happened, na Kasala be that. Because I know he is not afraid to take on the whole sports ministry, whether Dalung and his grandparents are there or not! But a wise man chooses his battle. When you see a crouching tiger, its not because of timidity. Such should be his philosophy. Enyeama left the national team because he didnt want competition in Ikeme, forget all the noise you guys make about inhumane treatment metted out to him. He said it himself! Being a second choice goalie was the problem. He only fueled it with th captaincy issue. Watch the interview I posted sometime ago here. Enyeama is so polar, he can make an issue out of the color of his Jersey for whoever cares to listen. I am not gonna say we dont want him. I am just setting the records straight. If the coach wants him, it is fine by me. Whatever we get, is wat we get. As my lady has said, it is not like Enyeama is the savior. That he has reduced scorelines or margins of goals scored against us does not mean we didnt end up losing! 5 Likes |

It only takes convincing to make him rescind the decision. But if he still insists he will not be part of the team then we move on. Talking about being sharp. You saw the weekend review posted earlier on this thread. All though that does not mean he may have fully regained his sharpness. But that is a good start to his recovery. We have a couple of friendlies in March to also assess his level of sharpness. Rohr says if Enyeama starts playing again then he can include him in his plans. Yes Enyeama had issues with Oliseh but this is Rohr in charge now. As I have said before we make attempt to extend the olive branch to him. And if he turns it down then we move on. Enyeama cannot be giving out good performances at Lille and we are having a goalkeeper crisis and we look away. Let us all put pride and vengeance aside, Nigeria is bigger than every individual, even the president. |

realpoacher:Pls go back and read my first comment you quoted may be you will understand better cos it should not be an offence to analyze the chances of Ezenwa,Uzoho, Ajiboye, Alampasu and included Akpeyi, these are keepers who have the opportunity of getting Rohr invitation more than two times and a good pundits would take the five into consideration when analysing the goalkeeping department. I don't see any reason to exclude Akpeyi from my analysis and if you read deep he was the only one i gave least chances by saying "If he get another chance" so what do you expect me to say.Do you expect me to omit him when Rohr has not said Akpeyi is no longer needed. On Ejide comparison, pls always read my comment deep,am not saying Akpeyi was better but you said something which baffled me "ESCOBAR TREATMENT" this forced me to point out Ejide howler against Scotland even went to extent of telling you of Godwin Odiye own goal in our last match against Tunisia in 1978 WC qualifier when we needed just a draw, also Aiyebeni historical missed against South Koreajust to tell you that Nigerians are not heartless when it comes to football. Mind you i was one of the first monikers to raise our goalkeeping problem when a lot don't even see it as an issue,i remember teztrum,icon4s, Michael2, goldfish80 were so concern and i never rate Akpeyi and Ezenwa. I saw Uzoho against Girona and i came to this thread to tell anybody who care to listen that the boy is better than Akpeyi and Ezenwa and the boy made me happy with his 45 minutes against Argentina. Uzoho performance against Argentina raised my curiosity on Alampasu that definitely if given chance too may be he is better than Akpeyi and Ezenwa. It was on this thread i said Ajiboye i watched against Guinea is better than Ezenwa and Ajiboye 1 Like |
