Until all known weaknesses are corrected/replaced, I think both is the answer for now. Why go with an Ezenwa or Akpeyi if we can find a better option (which obviously are available)? elunico: |

Kog45: I pray we beat Poland in March to make up for the Ranking points we'll drop from participating in CHAN. Hahaha. Too bad the only players we will be looking out for are Ezenwa and maybe Ajiboye. No out field players to look out for. O pari *in icon79's voice* |

Icon4s:I don't think we will loose points playing CHAN. The last I checked, there was ranking points earned for playing in major tournaments. CHAN is a recognised CAF and FiFA tournament. We Lost valuable ranking points for not qualifying for 2 AFCONs. mm Just 2 wins in CHAN will boost those ranking points. |

Icon4s:My point is different from yours,am not talking about dropping Egwueke but trying to debunk tbaba saying Odunlami wasn't a world cup material,am just using Egwueke as a point to defend Odunlami inclusion. As you said he was to deputise for Ambrose and also Oshaniwa.meaning he was highly rated by Keshi.I remeber Keshi used him in one of the friendlies as RB and put up a decent game. If not that Omeruo and Oboboana had formed a great partnership which can not be tampered with i rate the guy ahead of Oboboana cos he was a very playing ball defender, good on the air and very strong on the ball. Those who know him then in the league rate him highly than Egwueke and Oboboana but the duo got the opportunity before him and seized it especially Oboboana. |

Hopefully his wish came to materialize. How long it took though. **Thereispowerinselfbelief** tbaba1234: Chikeluba Ofoedu Hoping Hat - trick Will Come Soon After Scoring Eighth Brace In Turkey Published: August 24, 2015 Chikeluba Ofoedu has reflected on Samsunpor`s 3 - 3 draw with Adana Demirspor in their second game in the Turkish 1st Lig in the ongoing campaign. The former Enugu Rangers star , who scored twice against Adana Demirspor, has stated that his team deserved a share of the spoils despite trailing their opponents by two goals 10 minutes from time. “Yes, I think we deserved better than one point because we fought until the last minute of the game even when the scoreline was 3 - 1, ” said Chikeluba Ofoedu to allnigeriasoccer.com. “I am always happy whenever I score even if it`s one goal, I still thank God. So I`m not disappointed but I believe the hat - trick will come soon. “The club`s target still remains to go back to the Super Lig where they belong. ” Including his pair of goals against Adana Demirspor at 19 Mayıs Stadyumu , Ofoedu has scored 8 braces since making his debut in the 1st Lig against Kayseri Erciyesspor on September 12, 2012 while wearing the jersey of 1461 Trabzon. http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=16007 2 Likes |

I watched Uduokhai very well this season,i even make case for him but after what Tammy did,i need to evaluate my position on FB. Right from U20 WC seeing a Nigerian captain German team caught my attention and that person is Kevin Akpoguma. I remember asking guys here about him until he surfaced recently in Bundesliga. Rohr really need him but is not ready to the extent Darlington Omidiagbe was detailed to convince him but uptil now no response and some are saying these guys are straight to WC if they switch meaning players on the ground are mumu, they should come and fight for a place being a FB must not guaranteed automatic shirt. 2 Likes |

goldfish80: Ordinary qualifiers for CHAN that we lost to Benin it negated the 4-0 win and 1-1 draw we had with Cameroon. Look at the other teams in our group, any attempt to draw one we drop be that. It means we must secure the 9points from that group to start with . |

Icon4s:CHAN is a serious tournament. By FIFA power ranking, CHAN is a confederation tournament which earns 3.0 points. In the eyes of FIFA, CHAN is on par with the AFCON. CHAN points is actually worth more than FIFA world cup qualifiers. NO matter how bad things maybe, there is no chance in hell we would loose all 3 games in CHAN,even if a community secondary school team represented us. Just a couple of wins in that tournament boosts our ranking. For me, this CHAN team is too good to exit the tournament at the group stage. |

Mujtahida: You need experience in the goalkeepers department more than any other department. Goal keepers get better with age. Same goes to some extent with defenders. For the attack I don't care much about experience. All I just need to have at least 1-3 years of professional football at the senior club level. I don't tolerate academy players any where near the senior national team. For the attacking section I prefer players that are young and vibrant I have even gone ahead to give the age at which strikers start declining. Any striker that falls outside that age bracket is no longer appealing to me. This is also connected to why market value of most strikers decline as they age. Also I prefer experience over youth in the defense. Especially CBs. These are my preferences right from the start of this thread and that has not changed. There is no ethnic, religious or political colorations to it. Both youths and experience are needed in a team. But some departments need the experience more than others. That has been my point from day one. Performance is also tied to experience. Most people need to do things over and over again for a given period of time to get perfect. That principle holds sway every where. 2 Likes |

Friends, Countrymen, Nairalanders! I said some time ago about this issue of goal keeper is the least of our worries right now and time will prove this to be correct. A few posts ago, I asked us a question, which would you prefer between a bad goalkeeper, strong attack, and strong defence OR a good goalkeeper, good defence , bad attack. No on has been able to respond. I will say it again, the goal keepin department is the least of our worries right now considering the fact that if we play a brand of attacking football heavily based on possession, our goal keepers may largely be untested in a competitive match. What should be our major concern right now is how to get at least 2 replacements for Mikel before the world cup starts and start blendin them in. Which footballer has vision? Which player has accurate passes ? And can hold the midfield as well. I have said it before whether sarcastically or whatever, we can play without a goalie. Let us worry about someone to deputize for mikel. Scouts should come up with names of quality players that can do ball distribution. We have seen good goalies being messed up by a bad defence before so dont make it look like if Enyeama keeps the goal, he aint gonna concede. June is almost here. Close ur eyes and open it and the world cup is upon us. Wake up everyone and stop debating what will not in the end matter. The sad news is our opponents are also analysing us. I dare say they even know this thread exists. We are the ones giving them the exposé on our team. They know what to do to take out Mikel. And once Mikel is out, the sting i our attack is gone. We are here debating goalies..... ok O. I rest my case 1 Like |

kennysville: I don't agree with your second paragraph. We are not a heavy possession team, rather we are a solid counter attacking unit. Zambia, Algeria and Argentina had more ball possession than us, going by our last 3 games. 1 Like |

Icon4s:Yes I am not saying experience or any other categories mentioned are not good. They are very good. It's a cliché that experience is the best teacher and we all know through practical life experience how much we have learned through our various experiences. Same thing with football. It's said that gk are like wine, they taste better with age. This is all fine. My point was that experience must serve the purpose of performance. If an experienced gk will not give us good performance what then is the benefit of his experience? So performance reigns supreme. It can be assumed that an experienced gk will help our performance. Fine. That too is my assumption but if it turns out otherwise then like the goodjoe will say let the gk who has the quality to give us good performance man the sticks. That's what I mean by not using any category to set up totalitarian criteria that is set in stone and cannot change. Even performance cannot be set up as an inflexible criteria where for example a gifted player wants to unsettle the unity in the team. He should be kicked out. So my question is: experience just good in itself if serves no positive purpose? As in where our assumption that experience and performance goes together does not hold should we continue to stick to experience even when no quality performance is coming out from it? |

kennysville:Good gk, good defence, good midfield, good attack. That's my preference. But to specifically answer your categories:I prefer a good gk, a good defence and bad attack(which is not our situation because our attack is good) |
