You have made a valid point here.

1. What percentage of the Nigerian population has access to the internet?

2. Of the percentage that has access to the internet how many were aware of such voting contest?

3. Of those that were aware how many are interested in our national team issues.

Believe it or not we are giant of Africa only in population. Technologically we are not. Egypt are ahead. 70% of Nigeria's population live in rural areas while for Egypt it is slightly above 50%.

Egyptians care little about foreign leagues. Even if they follow foreign leagues it will be to watch their Egyptian players.

No doubt while Nigerian fans were busy marking their nairabet tickets the Egyptian fans were busy voting for Mohammed Salah.

Imagine Moses came a distant 4th. Nigerians no vote at all? What is the population of Gabon(2million) that there own player even finished 3rd.

Another thing is Nigeria does not have many friends on the continent. Expect all Ghana and SA votes to go to Mohammed Salah. And these are two countries with a large internet population. The only votes that would have gone to Moses from there may be those of Nigerians living there.

Following the recent meeting of the Disciplinary Committee, FIFA can today confirm the latest sanctions imposed for incidents that occurred during the preliminary competition for the FIFA World Cup™ as well as in international friendlies.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has been sanctioned for fielding an ineligible player in the match between Algeria and Nigeria on 10 November 2017. The match is declared to be forfeited and awarded 3-0 in favour of Algeria, with the NFF also receiving a fine of CHF 6,000. The sanction relates to the player Abdullahi Shehu failing to serve the automatic one-match suspension imposed on him as a result of receiving a caution in two separate matches of the same competition. This sanction bears no impact on the final result of the preliminary competition for the FIFA World Cup since Nigeria had already qualified (and Algeria eliminated) before the match took place.

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has also sanctioned the Timor-Leste FA (FFTL) with a fine of CHF 70,000 and the forfeit of seven matches in the preliminary competition for the 2018 FIFA World Cup™ for fielding a total of nine ineligible players based on nationality. The decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee is related to a previous sanction imposed by the AFC.

In addition, the Colombian player Edwin Cardona has been sanctioned for making a discriminatory gesture at an opponent during the friendly match played between the representative teams of Korea Republic and Colombia on 10 November 2017. Cardona has received a five-match suspension on the basis of art. 58 par. 1a) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, with the suspension to be served during the upcoming friendly matches of the Colombian representative team, as well as a stadium ban for those five matches and a fine of CHF 20,000.

World football governing body FIFA has sanctioned Nigeria for fielding an ineligible player in Shehu Abdullahi in their final FIFA World Cup 2018 Qualifiers tie against Algeria on the 10th of November 2017 in Constantine.
Abdullahi who played the entire duration of the above mentioned game and even gave away the penalty, which Algeria converted to draw 1-1 isn’t eligible for the game after picking up two separate caution in two separate games of the same competition.
He was supposed to be suspended for the game but Nigeria fielded him, and FIFA have now confirmed a fine on Nigeria following the recent meeting of the Disciplinary Committee earlier today.
Nigeria were fined CHF 6,000 with FIFA also awarding Algeria three points and three goals, which means the game which ended 1-1 is now recorded as 3-0 in favour of Algeria.
However the victory awarded to Algeria, has no implication on the final standings of the group as Nigeria have already qualified for the World Cup, while Algeria were confirmed eliminated before the game.

I cannot even give you a list of the players that got the yellow in our last match not to talk of a match played over 2 years ago. Because it is not my job.

Who are those whose job it is to keep records such cautions in the NFF? There are people who are collecting our tax payers money as salaries for doing so.

Somebody must be made a scape goat for others to sit up.

I dont think it is fair blaming NFF. The euphoria of dead rubber match got the better of everyone including yours truly.
But wait O! Is nt that match the qualification match befor the group stages? Why would the card count in the second phase to which Nigeria progressed?

I think this fifa rules need to be explained clearly. Let us hope they werent lying in wait to see if we were gonna slip up. I foresee them doing more digging. Was this necessary at this tym? After world cup draws had been done? I am beginning to think Fifa feels Nigeria na bad market for the world cup O!

It is good to see a few players doing ok. The jury is still out on Odey but at least he has started getting games. Alhassan is now a regular which is even better. These are not top leagues but there are ladders to bigger leagues.

But we also have many not so successful moves. Chisom Egbuchulam could be returning to Nigeria soon, his swedish loan can't be said to be a success. Bassey Ezekiel move to Barca B was also short-lived.

I do not think, the successes are due to better coaching. Alhassan was hindered by injury, he would have been in europe, a long time ago even before joining the league. The quality has always been there.

Abdu Maikaba deserves the majority of the plaudits when it comes to Alhassan. He put him in a system that got him discovered. The coach has had 5 more players selected for WAFU just to prove his pedigree is no fluke. Alhassan went on a bunch of trials and never got signed in the run up to him joining the league, it is not like Wikki Tourist signed him from Europe.
