Wao, u r really so prepared. Nobody will hear all these and not give u the white paper congrats
quote author=Messibliss207 post=63241245]Hello fam. You guys are the bomb. My visa was approved this morning 13th... Lagos.
I got into Lagos yesterday and lodged at New World hotel in Obalande. It's less than 10 minutes to the embassy. I was interviewed by the black woman in window 4. She was sharing blue paper like biscuit. She denied my friend who I went with. Here's my transcript

VO: (smiling back at me) good morning ma'am

ME: good morning ma

VO: pass your passport and i20. Where are you going to in the US

ME: i'm going to Ball State University in Muncie Indiana

Vo: what's your major

Me: Computer Information Systems

VO: what's your highest degree

ME: BA English Language

VO: why the change to Computer Information System

ME: I caught a passion for IT while in the uni. And as the media director in school I had a lot to do with the computer. Also Nigeria is transferring her business processes from manual to automated so acquiring technical skills will make me remain relevant in the Nigerian business world. I hope to build business modules and softwares that will revolutionize the Nigerian business world. (she was nodding at this point so i continued) I hope to run projects with organisations like Andela that are promoting ICT to women in developing countries like Nigeria to close the gender gap between the male and females in the ICT field in Nigeria. This is because according to the Nigerian National Bureau of statistics, the ratio of male to female in the ict field in Nigeria is 3:1 so I hope to work with these organizations to run projects that will close this gender gap. (at this point she was smiling widely)

VO: how did you hear about Ball State University

ME: the first time I heard about ball state uni was at an education seminar in port Harcourt in 2015. (she nods in agreement like say she follow me go) Then my uncle also recommended it

Vo: (cuts in) how did your uncle hear about this school

Me: he stays in Indiana though in forte Wayne but he told me the school is one of the best in Indiana. (she nods) (I continued) I also carried out a research about the school and the community where ball state is situated

Vo: whos paying

Me: my uncle. He's a Medical Consultant and the CEO of

VO: (cuts in) oh the same person that recommended the school (I said yes and continued spilling my uncle's profile) why is he paying instead of your parents

Me: (smiling widely) he's actually paying back. My parents trained him in medical school so he decided to train me as a way of giving back

Vo: (smiling and nodding) what area will you specialize in

Me: information security system. This is because of the high rate of cyber crime in Nigeria. Actually someone close to me lost a huge sum to cyber crime recently.

Vo: what are some of the courses you will be doing
Me: business application development, Info security system ,computer networking for business, database management system.

Vo: do you do c++ or is not part of it
Me: c++ is for computer science major. The difference is while computer science major is concerned with technology and it's improvement, computer Information systems is concerned with technology as a strategic tool that promotes business.

Vo: I can see you're already working in the IT field, did you get some certifications?

Me: yes ma'am. I did a short course on Data and statistical Analysis and also on computer networking, Cisco networking to be precise
She kindly puts my passport in the basket and brought out the white paper (she kept it far away and was busy giving people the blue paper).

Na so I take Waka today. Thanks to @drocks and @Jerrypeacelinks you guys are too much. Jerry may God give you an approval moro. You're a really nice person. Thanks everyone... You guys made this happen. Lemme go to Balogun market and start my winter shopping.
All glory to God.. He's so faithful. When you do your part (preparation) God will do his (grace). Bless you all

Hello everyone, pls can someone enlighten me

Can a girl of 16yrs who just finished her secondary school with good result granted visa to USA to study Paediatrics, If yes, which possible university (affordable) what are the requirement for embassy, I mean where should one start from, pls tell me the procedures. I will really appreciate your kindly advice.

Yes she can be what ever she wants to be .........I just caution sending someone quite young abroad , although my sister started at 17 . Just make sure she adequately supervised and comes home once a year if possible ... Digressing back

The Internet would be the best starting point . Let her take the SAT and TOEFl as well . That will open up her admission choices and if her score is high open her up to funding .

Paediatrics is still almost 10 - 15 years from now , the first step is usually a first degree science degree like Biology, after the BSC then she takes the MCAT and enters a 4 years medical program . Specialism such as Pediatrics comes if she gets matched to a residency program after the 4 year medical program . First step is best to do the 4 years degree in a school that also has a medical school, although it can be done anywhere as well .

There are some direct Medical degree that dont break it into 4years BSC and 4 Year medical but those are extremely competitive to enter

Have you written the SAT?

There is usually no direct admission to medicine like Nigeria.

1. You write SAT
2. Get into preMed (any of the major sciences as first degree can do)
3. You go to medical school after your first degree
4. After medical school, You do your residency in pediatrics to become a pediatrician

So right now you need to do your SAT.

There is no point arguing, if you want to get your Visa approval you need to do your home work very well.
It is true that community colleges are quite affordable but you should not be telling the Vo that your main reason for choosing the community college is because of cost.

You should explain that with the small class size and elementary level of learning at CC it will enable you achieve success in your studies. You will be able to obtain the necessary prerequisites and credit to transfer to a top university to obtain your BSC.
Niv25:

so are you saying that someone who can't afford the universities can't comfortably get an F1 visa for community college...and I see no reason why you compare the community college in the US with the polytechnics in Nigeria...am sure the are far better than the once we have here. since I can't afford the universities I intend getting an associate degree which I can use in applying for universities to get my bachelor's degree...that saves money. and I believe one of the major reason why community colleges are established is for those who can't afford the universities. So why will a VO delay my visa only because I applied to community colleges and why are there more international students in some community colleges

@Lagosismyhome I really need your advice on this ma'am..I already sent you a PM please reply me

visa approved this morning at the Lagos Consulate.

The young guy at window 2
very few questions.
vo. why are you going to the USA
me. to study and obtain a masters degree in computer science
vo. why computer science
me. There. is a current shift from "oyel" to technology in Nigeria. I would like to be among the young entrepreneurs that would make this happen. (I said other things too but all within this context)
vo. how many schools did you apply to.
me. Two schools actually because I did not complete my application on the third since I was given admission already at scsu
vo. did you write any standardised test
me. Yes. gre. 291. 144, 147, 3.0. verbal quant and AW
vo. what will you be doing when you come back
me. I started talking plenty nonsense on how dangote gave me job and this one that one. I actually had a plan to drive down to the answer but the vo cut in and asked me the question again. so I knew I had to go straight to the answer. so I said, I plan to set up a software development institute somewhere in the south east of NG just like what Andela has in lagos. I believe you know Andela right? he said yes, so you want to be a software developer. I nodded.
vo. which programming language will you work with
me. java.
vo start to type.
I will be approving your visa. you will get a notification on where to pick it up.
I said thank you and left. but him no circle any location for my white paper just like folks here always say. But I believe it will come with the notification.

FYI I was the guy that Twoods allowed to pm him. And let me now tell you guys what he told me. "make it about yourself". i just knew i had to change everything I was about to cram.
Lagosismyhome thank you so much.
twoods I thank you too.
and also to every one who has been putting up information on this platform, I say a big thank you.
Now, who is going to minnesota?

Congrats once again...
So happy for you.. smiley

You keep rigmaroling on a single question and it’s getting stale already. The worst part is you are not even listening to the advises given to you because you keep complaining of affordability when you can easily get a full ride university scholarship if you put in your application right to a university. How about you stop disturbing people here and go ahead to apply for admissions at community colleges?
We’ll all still be here to assist you further when you don wise and your eyes don clear. Till then, go ahead and apply bro. Don’t run mouth here too much! Just go ahead
