Good day house! This question is for a friend who was denied an F1 visa thrice last year when he wanted to go for his Masters. Now a company in the US is filing an H1b visa for him which would be done with the processing in few weeks time. Please what are his chances of getting an H1b visa approved or there’s no problem?

congrats to all those who got their visas approved... but from my own point of view I can say getting visa approved is quite subjective but I don't blame the consular officer cause they just have few minutes to decide if one is geniue or not... to all those rejected ones, twice or even thrice!!! if you really keen about studying in the US I will say give it another shot maybe next fall and try to work on your short comings.... God bless you all and have a great holiday

thanks bro, I actually did well. At the point where she asked for my sponsors bank statement I passed it and then asked if it's a business account I didn't know when YES dropped from my mouth. I should have corrected my self immediately by saying it's my dad's personal statement and really it is. And then she took her time to advice me after she had pushed the blue paper to me on thoroughly checking for f1 requirements as she feels that I am trying to migrate .I messed up!

Hello everyone,
I have been a silent follower for over 2 months. My visa was approved this morning at Lagos Embassy. Many thanks to Damilare5882 for taking his time to help edit my mock transcript and Twoods and also everyone who has contributed to this thread.

VO: Good morning
ME: Good morning sir
VO: So tell me why you are going to the US?
ME: I am going to the US to study and acquire my masters degree in Public health at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
VO: Why masters degree?
ME: The first degree is not competitive enough and the masters degree will give me the knowledge and skills that I need to work with the Federal Ministry of Health, and other public health non governmental organizations in order to reduce disease burden in Nigeria.
VO: What is your first degree?
ME: Microbiology
VO: Tell me what you learnt in school about microbiology?
ME: Microbiology is the study of micro-organisms. Microbiology has different branches such as environmental microbiology, Food microbiology, Industrial microbiology and Medical microbiology.
VO: Tell me about Environmental Microbiology
ME: Environmental Microbiology is the study of micro- organisms in the environment. Some micro-organisms can be harmful while some can be useful. For example, some micro-organisms can be used to degrade wastes in the enivornment. Although we have some wastes called recalcitrant wastes that do not degrade such as Plastics and Iron.
VO: How many schools did you apply to?
ME: 3
VO: Name them
ME: University of North Texas Health science center, West virginia University and University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
VO: How many admitted you?
ME: The three
VO: Why are you not going to University of North Texas Health Science Center?
ME: I prefer UAMS because it has a school of Public health that is accredited by the Council on Education for Public health in the US. I will get to work with Professor Brooke Montgomery on her research aimed at examining HIV and STIs disparities in the vulnerable populations and also developing behavioural interventions for sexual risks. Also, they have a curriculum for masters in public health where you get community experience which enables you to apply what you learn in class to the real life.
VO: How did you hear abt UAMS?
ME: I did an extensive research on schools that offer public health in the US using professional sites such as association of schools for programs of public health and sophas.org and I narrowed down my search to UAMS because their curriculum aligns with my career goals.
VO: Did you write GRE or GMAT
ME: GRE
VO: Are you married?
ME: NO
VO: Do you have any children?
ME: NO
VO: Who is your sponsor?
ME: My mother
waited for some minutes
VO: OK, I will be approving your visa now.
ME: Thank you sir
VO: You will get an email.....bla....bla....

Congrats dear. God be with you

Lol @bolded..only companies can file H1-B. A green card holder can only file anything at all for his/her spouse or unmarried children. Siblings obviously don't qualify under this requirement.Your friend and friend's brother both need to familiarize themselves with the US immigration system.

if your "friend" does not have a PhD or research experience In a highly specialised STEM field, he should not bother wasting time and money, his three denial included will amount to flushing money down the toilet at Walter carrington.

This is not the correct way to approach GRE, your exam is already close and you are just asking for soft copy. GRE is all about assiduous and smart preparation. You might want to postpone the exam if possible.

You will find almost all materials you can possibly need here http://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B-ii97JplpxMdzhHNnYxSUlPOEE All the best.

It wasn't just your day for visa approval. If it were the VO would not have bothered asking you if it is a personal bank account or business account.
Just me saying my mind.

Finally, fill in d necessary details and attachment like I-20, admission letter, etc and write the reason(s) why u need a new date

While there are a few cases where this happens i.e. filing of H1-B for someone who is resident in Nigeria, it is highly unlikely-except your friend is some really hot cake, or is an executive at a multinational company already..say with a branch in Nigeria in which case they'll probably do an L-1. Tell your friend to come ask questions him/herself, and then he can better rephrase his question.

BTW, this is not to be taken as a legal advice

If there's any student going for any ICT program here and his/her VISA is not approved..
I'm 90% sure the person failed to express how the ICT is contributing to our economy here in Nigeria and how ICT is gonna take over Nigeria in the Future...

Congratulations...

@Twoods Thanks for your advice and as it stands i have decided to follow up with what you said.

but i have few dummy questions that that needs dummy answers please
1. Have checked the programs using rankings by usnews and i saw MIT, Stanford and so on with heavy cost that i do not think my father can afford. here is my question, is it best advised to get public schools, in other word i mean what category of school with great rankings, give best education value at high cost but still have lots of available funding, and how best do i find them please.
2. I do not want to invest my time taking wrong steps so please i'm very conversant with google, but can you help me with the best way to find them considering your experience and possible schools with best reputations, since it seems you were admitted to one with funding
3. The top schools do i need to get other requirements to support my profile like publications and so on for masters study at those schools.

Thanks. I'm the guy that was denied yesterday (Point park university) remember?...
