To answer your question, Like Albion05 mentioned, every application is on a case-by-case basis, but due to the assessment level we are in the DIBP database now, which is associated with all form of verifications of documents and consultation here and there due to misrepresentation and fake documents, Anyone can hardly get a visa granted in a week, even with the strongest possible cases.

Blazegab:
Was there anytime this grant was ever as fast as a week for any Nigerian. I am tired ooo. This wait as just paused many things can't make any major decision cos am waiting for them to process visa. 2018 is so close I can't afford to start a new year on this note. Haaa

I think the stipulated time stated on DIBP has changed to 60 - 83days, not 52 - 59days

This for postgraduate research sector. Most of us who are going for postgraduate don’t fall into this sector.
We fall into the school sector which is 40 daysor more.

I think the last time the processing time was updated was on the 16th of November, 2017. Please correct me if am wrong.

bros I think the 52 - 59 days is for BSc, while msc is 60 - 83days, postgraduate research can be phd or msc whereas higher education can be any thing post secondary it's not specific
Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by fobak203(m): 10:31pm On Dec 14, 2017
Yes, Thanks, very clear, although I have done frontloading of medicals since 25th November, 2017. Also, I have placed documents under closely related area as I want my application to be decision ready especially because of this 60-82 days application process. Your comments were helpful
OGKush:

Yes, you'll have to fill the (pages of the application process) questionnaire first, then attach the required documents separately as you wont be able to further your application if the required documents are not uploaded and certified received. After which you'll be directed to where you'll pay the application fee and we only be able to add additional documents if it's required by DIBP.

I hope this is clear enough, you can check my previous post on how to generate your HAP ID for upfront medicals.

Postgraduate research sector is for Masters degree by research and Doctoral degree which is 60- 83 days. For Masters degree that is Course work is 52- 59 days which falls under Higher education Sector.

Postgraduate Research Sector (60-83 days).
Higher education sector ( 52- 59 days).
Schools Sector (40- 72 days).
Vocational education and training sector (52- 63 days).
The pictorial representations will help clear your doubts.
N/B... all these subclasses of Visa was finally rooted in to one subclass called Student subclass 500. If am wrong, please correct me.
From this now someone can know where he or she falls in the categories.

The current processing time depends on individuals intended studies, e.g If you're going for a research based Masters degree then you'll fall under the Postgraduate Research Sector, while if you're going for a Masters degree by Coursework you'll fall under the Higher Education Sector.

The Higher Education Sector comprises of students whose main course of study is one of the following:

- Bachelor Degree
- Associate Degree
- Graduate Certificate
- Graduate Diploma and
- Masters by Coursework

So the stipulated processing time still remains 52 - 59 days for Masters by Coursework.

Its usually not a good omen but do summon the courage to let us know the outcome but most of all, keep your fingers positively crossed

My application was finalise since 3 days ago. After waiting for the email notification and after waiting for 7 months for Australia visa. Today I finally got a Rejection letter. The reason because of Nigeria unstable economic and political unrest . Which is not my personal fault.
My school was RMIT.
I just have to take it by faith and move on with my life. As I have waited for the decision weather good or bad to enable me prepare for the new year . I pray those awaiting theirs should get their grant IJN AMEN.

Am so sorry dear. Put your self together and plan ahead. I believe you will still get it right next time. Like what @Ebere272 said applying alone and using your family back home as a strong family ties will help in cementing your GTE considering the state of our economy. Last time I saw a post of someone claiming that he has 30 thousand USD that he wants to come back and open up a supermarket. I knew inside me that the moniker was just running an internal check on our country but people don't know. We are like a family here, our taughts and concern are with you.

@IamphiVitalis. Please are you referring to my post because am so shock right now. The reference I made about moniker having 30 thousand USD and wants to open a supermarket is not in any way referring to you. I saw the post on general thread on Nairaland not this particular thread and the moniker does not bear your name. Please clarify me because I did not offend anyone. Or may be you are referring to another post which is not mine. Am so confused right now!..

This in itself is indeed saddening. The reason for the rejection if even more saddening. If they can reject someone that has waited for 7 months on this basis and for this reason - then there's little or no hope for the rest of us still waiting. Anyone can be rejected based on this. Take heart and please don't think too much about it. Don't give up and keep trying

You are very right bruhh and I've also noticed that recently, they only issue out grants first or second week of the month and then you don't hear from them again till the following month. If that is the case, we should be looking at early or mid January for some good news again. They have probably finished their quota for the year.
