360command: I'm a product of the public uni system. And I agree with you. But sincerely, a huge part of the problem lies with the students. Because they do not pay much, they do not have a sense of ownership and also the need to maintain the environment where they study and live in. It's pathetic. 2 Likes |

Bifrost:What are u talking? So because people will talk it is better to fail innocent students and impress those who would talk ? Your reasoning is flawed. |

Bifrost:Glorified sec schools are the schools that run cheap degree programs that require no labs. Go to uniben law dept, accounting dept and see. Why do you think foreign schools don't exchange students with public unis? because they are glorified sec schools. 1 Like |

If the church runs the affairs of this country I bet you that the development and strides Nigeria will make in a decade will dwarf everything she has accomplished in over 50 years! These churches don’t get grants or subsidies from the government unlike their public counterparts and YET they are steadily growing in astronomical leaps...they don’t share the proceeds from the oil being drilled and looted in the country and yet they are still wading strong...you say they build schools through tithes (which is not being given by everyone) but your government taxes every able bodied man and woman no matter your religious affiliation or denominations! They tax you on virtually everything and even the air you breathe and they end up given you crumbs to feed on...but somehow you all believe the pastors and churches are your problem?? Nigerians keep chasing phantoms and ghosts! 1 Like |

Desyner: What about Babcock? Their school of medicine is one of the very best in Nigeria. Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State recorded a milestone in 2015, when their own first heart surgery operation was performed in the institution’s Teaching Hospital, by its doctors. The operation lasted six hours. The Tristate Heart and Vascular Centre, Babcock University Teaching Hospital, made history when they solely performed Cardiac Catheterization at the centre, earlier this year in March 2017. 1 Like |

Bifrost: Wrong. Students in public universities do not have a sense of ownership, simply because of the way such public universities are run and the attention paid to students welfare. It has little or nothing to do with how much money such students pay as school fees. Even the amount you consider to be small, appears to be huge when you talk to indigent students from poor homes. The private universities have a more hands on approach to their students. It isn't possible in most private universities for a student to miss lectures for a month, without eyebrows being raised by all and sundry. But this can happen easily in a public uni and no lecturer would notice or be bothered, until it is time for tests and exams. Private universities give their students more "close marking" than public ones. |
