in this kind of situation it is better not judge too quickly, maybe some arrangement is on for relocation of those building... I trust lag government! Anything obstructing their way for road constructions usually get demolished even if its state property....LASU comes mind, the school fence acting as obstacle obstrucing the ongoing project of babdagry expressway is currently been demolish. Back then, many would have felt the govt is been partial as many buildings along that same road has long been demolished leaving only the university fence untouched... So, let wait and see what become of the shrine and palace when the constructions has fully started 2 Likes 1 Share |

People should stop saying what they don't know. The church, the king's palace and the shrine are all going down. The state govt will build a new palace for the Oba along Bayeku road. By January next year, you won't find those buildings there anymore. |

emeijeh: When I took Highway Engineering some years back, one of the factors we consider when selecting the proposed right of way (highway route) is the presence of historical site. I'm sure the oba's palace is one and the Orisa Juju or whatever it's called is another. Those two wont be subject to demolition. But a new Pentecostal church is not an historical site so except there is another way this can be avoided, it gast to go. 2 Likes |

The agege demotion still baffles me as people with genuine paper work still have their buildings levelled with the floor, I just hope they're duly compensated and timely likewise. That's why when I buy land.... I ran million miles away from the road, paper work or not with govt, make I see who want destroy house wey dey corner whether road reach there, dem go tell me. |

harbjar:Mosques too were demolished The Oba palace too is going down (He has moved to the back palace) The orisa is not going, they are going to surround it with a roundabout. I was informed that the orisa can't be moved away from that spot because that is where the founder of the city disappeared/settled down. Many ancient graves were removed. Some part of the town burial ground (cemetery) is going down. You will observe they have not touched any school, post office, stadium, health center, palace because nobody is going to resist them or go to court on those ones when the work starts fully. I have a house in the town and was involved in the lobbying and meetings for the road construction |

urbighead:so what the aim of this your mention?? That government cant destroy some its property to pave way for better constructions?? Or that, it succumb to aboki pressure and persistence... they are breaking LASU in place of alaba rago slum?? Both lasu and alaba rago slum will be demolish if they are obstructions..Btw, You live there does not mean you hold the whole truth of the situation. |
