I feel that for such an old minister of the gospel, to look back in retrospect and with, possibly, some critical function of divine direction, and decide to apply positive corrective remedies to certain erroneous "foundations of faith". Mind you, these were the premise upon which hundreds of thousands of Christian believers shaped their world-view, engaged and disengaged from familial, business, career and indeed, all of life's relations formerly. Some of these teachings were also key to the "ill-prepared" exit of many from the movement.

If you were really considering the psychology of human group behavior as it pertains to key sectors like religious beliefs or political structures, you would be mindful of the fact that "a whole lot of weaker-minded people" would have tagged along based on herd instinct instead of being really spirit-led. What about young ones brought up in the system and even young converts raised therein?

Now, Christendom in Nigeria is a veritable mess of all-sorts and pastors have become the cheap stock of every joke for every comedian/OAP to lampoon in their spare-time despite being a full-time demons themselves and we don't even know where to start sorting things out from. I think it's best not to be as dismissive as implying that "no one was misled" and instead join in the rebuilding effort with empathy, sincere sense of responsibility and a christian duty to indeed searching out and verifying every edifying truth before we transmit such to others knowing we may be the only Bibles they get to read eventually.

Wrong things were taught as being critical, essential and sacrosanct, now more revelational light and benefit of wisdom has shown them as impeding factors on the long term, the mere fact that Pst Kumuyi came on air should make everyone have a second-take on them, but to live in denial will not be laying a good foundation for our generation, peace! Besides, Christ never sent anyone to help Him add to His Word and our Heavenly Father's Commandments and the Lord's stand, in the Book of Revelations, for those practicing such is quite severe enough for anyone who wants to learn and not just trivialize things of the eternal and the spiritual.

In my time men were not encouraged to wear decorative, flowery shirts, women were not allowed to wear trousers etc. It is not very different to extreme Islam without the violence.

One thing I've noticed about we Deeper Lifers, some of us are arrogant when it comes to condemning fellow believers especially on non essentials. In our church we have the the 22 cardinal Bible doctrines,have you asked yourself whether this issue is among those Bible doctrines ? I used to have this mentality but i realised we are not the only Christians upholding the standard of the word of God in this nation and we should accept our fellow christians from other denominations too and not killing ourselves over jewelry this and jewelry that as if it was ever a factor in our salvation.

Simplicity in order to edify oneself and others is the key answer

I think you are forgetting the fact that Christianity has roots in Judaism, a spirito-social and political framework that was handed down by our Father God Himself. And in that system, especially in the Old Covenant, the keeping of Beards & Mosutaches was regarded as normative if not celebrated in some instances!

Sir, don't you agree with me that we simply went overboard with the adopting and "christianizing" parts of the values-systems, ways and norms of the European Christian Missionaries who evangelized our forebears and with who we had our earliest Christian contacts? Have we not erred also as Christ implied "teaching as doctrine the traditions of men"? Have we not taken people captive into silly arguements and obligations on premise of "taste not, touch not" even when we ourselves were not so well-schooled on the etymologies of the standards we adopted or proclaimed to others as pathways to heaven?

Who declared the Black Suit, Shirt & Collar as official Clergy Uniform while downgrading the Kaftan, Agbada & our other native attires while dispensing with the original Jewish Robes? After all, if you were to want to retain resemblance to the Master as much as possible, wouldn't you have done well by modelling yourself to His closest Image while on His Earthly walk, which sorry to burst your bubbles, is the Mediterranean look?

Who Sanctioned as Sunday the Official Worship Observance Day for Christians Instead of the Sabbath Day which is Saturday as is still being practiced in Israel today? (At least, the Jews are not extinct, if we were in doubt, we would have done well to board a flight out there and understudied them a bit?)

Doctrines flew out of that and the next thing is Carnal Judgementalism and Demonic Soulish Comparisons based on lies sponsored from the pit of hell. We now saw churches splititing, no longer honoring program invites from one another and barring members from fellowship together because of flimsy excuses like "they're not holy because they wear Jeans, we're are holy because we wear Corduroys!" Now, look at the mess the Nig. Church has made of it's testimony. No one single day without news breaking of some pastor somewhere doing some dirty, crazy or godless deed. We know they're fake but they wear the collar, bear the title and people answer to them and would probably kill for some of them too. And PFN etc are powerless to do anything!

Somebody somewhere will have to answer some day for putting so many people out of way! No wonder the Book of James enjoins one not to be in a hurry to be "teachers of the Word" since they will judged with greater levels of scrutiny and severity.

Bible doctrines are different from bible injuctions/examples

Bible is made up of both doctrines and injuctions. This issues are under bible injuctions/examples not under bible doctrines.
