"DO YOU HAVE ANY FRIEND OR RELATIVE WORKING WITH US?" The above question was asked by the interviewers to almost all the applicants that attended the interview. I am surprised that many of you couldn't understand what that mean or the logic behind. The question is simply checking for nepotism, which is simply the practice among those in power to influence the favouring of their relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs. The correct answer in that situation is simple "No". But I don't think it's wrong when you answer "Yes", especially if that your relative is not working in the HR department, as that 'may' attract unnessesary questions to ascertain weather or not he's helping you in any way to secure the appointment. The help could be as simple as telling you the exact question they gonna ask you and the best answers. Anyway, these are just my understanding. I stand to be corrected. Good day hopefuls ✌ |

I have followed this thread since the inception of its creation. DPR recruitment has several dynamics to it, from Inside Caucus, to God's Favour, to sheer providence. As expected, people are going to form different postulates based on their viewpoints. Throughout the course of this exercise, I have fallen into all categories - Applicant Portal Closed, Didn't receive email to edit profile, and other categories that have been classed on this platform; even the category of having missed my interview date after the entire exercise (my portal was closed throughout the interviewing stage, only to be opened this week, but I still had my interview). Summary of this post is that, nobody can confidently state the decision matrix during selection / screening process, not even majority of the DPR staff. So to anyone hoping, I say - remain hopeful, God will surprise you. To those speculating, I say - keep speculating. To those with confidential informants, I say- keep being misinformed. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all. Safe travels on your onward journeys. 9 Likes |

so because lets say my father is working at DPR and i applied and passed all the recruitment processes then i will be denied the job on nepotism ground? this your theory is somehow. but what if its the other way round? what if they want to make sure their children get preferential treatment?? abobim: Answering all questions is not the problem but answering them correctly. It is advisable to keep quite if you don't know the answer. They may not correct you but they know when you are dishing out wrong answers confidently. And you may come out thinking that you answered everything. All I pray for is that God will show me mercy and bless me with this job regardless of my performance. 4 Likes |

babagy82: Federal civil service rule does not allow relative to work in the same parastatal. Although, many people do outsmart them. For instance, I can claim that I am not related to him that it is just a coicidence that we bear the same surname. Also, oil money must go round. It should not concentrate on your family. Further more, they want to know who they are dealing with. You understand what I mean. 1 Like |

babagy82: You see what we have been saying here. You and I know that you expected a tougher question especially in your field Mechanical Engineering. Even kids know the 6 geopolitical zones and the name of senate president. Now how do you think this will be graded? Because if we go by answering questions, you have scored 100%. 2 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Department Of Petroleum Resources - 2016 Graduate Trainee &experienced Hire Job by Nobody: 5:05pm On Dec 19, 2017 |
i believe it will be graded, the questions comes to you based on how lucky you are. a guy that entered before me told me he was bombarded with very difficult questions, i believe the questions were already in their system because thats where they are reading the questions from, so if you are lucky you get simple questions and if you are not lucky you get tough ones. And yes, some exceptionally talented candidates will fail the question "how many geopolitical zones we have in Nigeria". Onyiridike: 2 Likes |

babagy82: not completely true, questions are asked based on ur job functions and what ever extra qualification u have and which depends largely on hw knowledgeable ur interviewer is. my first question was based on the post graduate qualification I had den followed one question in my field of study and another one current affairs only. in fact if u are being interviewed by someone who knws ur field, baba b rest assured that wateva question u HV on d system does not matter again. in all, we should jus pray and hope for d best. |

babagy82: More like it. I was trying to find out if answering question is just one part of the assessment. For instance, Project defence is graded as follows: 1. Dressing - 10 marks 2. Presentation - 10 marks 3. Answering questions- 15 marks Among others. Do you think answering questions alone will take the entire 100 marks? |

I'm tired of replaying my interview in my head. GT applicant. Lagos. I was asked about 15 questions, of which maybe five were school and work related. They played good cop-bad cop. Actually, they were both serious, but one of them was more serious. I was calm. The questions though... One the answers was 'wizkid and davido'. Then another question was about corruption in Nigeria. Plus stuff about my TV and internet habits, buhari's travels, and the usual "any relative in DPR?/any questions for us". I answered all. About twice bad cop asked for a deeper/longer answer to his questions. e.g. the corruption thing. I was probably their first that morning. The observer was just observing and probably grading. May grace speak for us. 2 Likes |

One of the important factors everyone is neglecting is age falsification. If you like answer 100 out of 50 questions so far as you fake your age and its Obvious you will not succeed. I wish everyone success though. 1 Like |

Siblings and couples are not allowed to work in the same firms especially banks. I applied for DPR as well i was asked the following questions. What is the name of South Africa's President i answered Jacob Zuma. i was asked to state the main function or functions of the United Nations Security Council i said " world peace and Int'l Security. i joked about hoping the UNSC would do something about Donald Trump Jerusalem Issue. This got the attention of the Third Man, who came in with me and stood behind me all the time. He asked the remaining questions starting with me differentiating the 3 Arms of govt which i did, very well He went on an said i should explain the Evolution of DPR. I started to download my wikipedia data as crammed the night before. The moment i mentioned its started out as a Hydrocarbon sector under the MLA, directly under the Governor General he stopped me and said what is the Major function of DPR i answered " full responsibility of exploration and importation of petroleum products most especially the safety side of importing products. at the point i was offered a bottle of water. The man behind me left and i was asked if i had a relative in DPR i said not any more as, the person i knew passed away in February. I was asked where i work and what i do i said i work with ***** Bank and why i also wanted to work with DPR, i said, I'd like to put in whatever it is to work for the country and work in a place where one can have rest of Mind. I saw a small grin from the mans face. he said than you can leave. As i left i noticed a young lady, whom i think had a camcorder with her. 2 Likes |
