there are different grades and levels in banking. contract staff(tellers customer care guys etc)-50-80k. entry level depending on bank- 100k-250k(access diamond and GTB are among the top paying banks).

Grades include entry level, assistant banking officer (ABO), banking officer (BO), Senior banking officer(SBO) deputy manager, assistant manager, manager, senior manager, Assistant general manager (AGM), deputy general manager, and General manager(GM)people like anambra,borno and cross river governors were GM in banks ( they cant be broke if they went into politics). the big boys are the AGM to GM who get between 10m-50m in profit sharing. A banking officer in a typical bank would earn around 300-500k.

The misconception here is people use contract staff to generalise all bankers.

Some people just rate bankers based on the information as regards pay that they have about bankers not knowing contract staff and permanent staff are on different pay grade. Everybody wants to know how much bankers earn. Maybe OP has a toaster who is a banker and wants to have an idea of his pay or a friend who is a banker that she thinks is stingy or she's considering a job in a bank.

In some banks a teller can be a banker, in zenith bank for example there is no specialized unit/ department for contract staffs and full staffs, a contract staff in zenith bank work jst like a full staff, some tellers are full staffs why some are contract staffs meanwhile they do the same work, u'll find them in customer service unit, fund's transfer unit and even marketing, the same job function assigned to a full staff is also assigned to a contract staff. so if I'm gonna define a banker I'll say "A banker is an employee of a bank who occupies an executive position. cheers
