Abeg make una help me advise this sheepleooo It seems the issue of tithing will not end soon in Nigeria, as some Nigerian celebrities keep exchanging words with controversial OAP Daddy Freeze on social media.A young man identified as Wilson Levison took to his Facebook profile on Tuesday, December 19, to narrate his recent experience with a pastor. He seized the opportunity to call out people who are against payment of tithes in churches.Levison further added that he had gone to visit the pastor when he was given the envelop. He disclosed that it was one of those the man of God must have received from a member who came to pay his tithe. His post reads: “I visited a friend whose dad is a G.O of a mega church…the man was impressed with our efforts at promoting leadership amongst young people. He walked into his room and came out with a white envelope and handed it to me in appreciation. On the envelope was boldly written *TITHE* inside the envelope was impressive…. My point is, waka to those of you that say people shouldn't pay tithes oooo….naso una for spoil this Christmas for me. https://gossip.naija.ng/1141814-nigerian-man-curses-tithing-receiving-envelope-pastor.html#1141814 https://gossip.naija.ng/1141814-nigerian-man-curses-tithing-receiving-envelope-pastor.html#1141814 |

Obviously, tithing seems to be the most important thing in christianity cos it is the one thing that can get a Christian even the pastors radicalised, dangerously fanatical. The way this tithing of a thing is going, pro tithers and anti tithers in the church will start exchanging blows. Sunni and Shia Muslims comes readily to mind. Oya, make una dey kill una self dey go. |

one thing for sure, the Bible does not condemned tithe , as a matter of fact, Matthew 23:23 support tithe strongly. |

Goshen360:Matthew 23:23 (NIV) “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. YOU SHOULD HAVE PRACTICE THE LATTER WITHOUT NEGLECTING THE FORMER. this is not the scribe speaking, this is our Lord speaking, this verse is self explanatory. |

Goshen360:when Jesus was alive there was nothing like Christians? The first mention of the word Christian was in Antioch in d book of acts... Jesus preached to everyone, sometimes he did dat in the temple, sometimes he did dat outside. Who were d scribes? The custodians of the word of God.. Who were the pharisee? A middle class Jewish sect dat believe in the written word of God and signs as opposed to the saducee sect dat believe only the writen word and dey were d elite class of Jews.. Wen u say scribes and pharisee wat comes to ur mind? Weren't dey usually present in Jesus meetings? The high class jews are regarded as the saducees, tge middle class pharisee and the lower class are publicans. So put dat in perspective and make a more reasonable argument. |

malvisguy212: Did you not see of "THE LAW" in Christ statement above... Tithing is not of grace, but of the law. By the law shall no soul be justified. 2 Likes |

bloodofthelamb:what did Jesus mean by this"YOU SHOULD HAVE PRACTICE THE LATTER WITHOUT NEGLECTING THE FORMER." There are many practices in the Old Testament that don't make sense to us today, yet many of these ancient ways carry over to the New Testament law of grace as part of Christ's promise to not abolish the law, but to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17 ). For instance we no longer sacrifice animals but as believers we are called to offer ourselves up as a living sacrifice (Rom 12:1 ). Men no longer are required to be circumcised, but we all have a circumcision of the heart through the Holy Spirit (Rom 2:29 ). yes, we are under grace, but we must not forget the purpose of grace ,to help us live for God. Romans 8:4 tells us that Jesus came that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, not so that we could altogether dismiss it. And Romans 3:21-31 talks about how we have righteousness through faith and not through following the law, but verse 31 adds "Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law." God Grace gives us the power to uphold the law. |

It is true that the law is fulfilled in us through Christ jesus, but are we justified by it? No we ain't. What do we hear today? Preachers and Pastors preaching justification, blessing and favour through the law(tithe, fasting etc)... Turning the gospel upside down. |

malvisguy212:Where did you get this trash from? Both tithing and animal sacrifices were part of the law and has been done away with. When Jesus made that statement in Matthew 23:23 the law was still active. Likewise when Jesus was born animal sacrifices were offered on accordance with the law. Jesus's death on the cross ended the law and everything that got to do with it |

malvisguy212: You should do well to note these: 1.Galatians 3: 10 - "All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law." You CANNOT PICK ONLY ONE aspect of the Law and disregard others. If you do you're under a curse. James 2: 10 states the very same thing. 2. Was their tithing of HERBS considered by Jesus as part of the MORE IMPORTANT MATTERS of the Law? If not, is anyone justified in turning it into a "WEIGHTIER" matter for the Christian today? |

Re: Nigerian Man Curses Those Against Tithing After Receiving Envelope From Pastor by paxonel(m): 9:40am On Dec 21, 2017 |
I think nigerian christians will keep paying tithe to their pastors not because there is any scripture in the bible that shows that tithing was a requirement in christianity ,but because the majority of Nigerian christians are illiterate to understand their bible to know the difference between christianity and Judaism Tithing was strictly Judaism, not christianity |
Re: Nigerian Man Curses Those Against Tithing After Receiving Envelope From Pastor by paxonel(m): 9:51am On Dec 21, 2017 |
malvisguy212:When you start reading your bible as a book that also contain the history of the Jewish religious practices, then will begin to understand that Jesus will not have possibly condemn the Jewish religious ordinces which includes tithing, because it was not wrong. However, it was also not complusary to non Jews who do not practice Judaism, example christians : That was why Jesus never say tithing was also a requirement in christianity. No no early apostle paid tithe, or any christian starting from the book of act. Christianity started from the book of act. So you see, nigerian pastors are wrong. Daddy freeze is very right |

malvisguy212: Listen to yourself brother.....yes Jesus didn't condemn it TO WHO? Off course to THOSE PRACTISING IT WHO ARE UNDER THE LAW THEN....including law of tithing. Btw, again when did SCRIBES AND PHARISEES become examples to CHRISTIANS? Are you still under the law? 2. I do call those who tithe as sinners BUT on the contrary it is tithers that call non tithers sinners for not tithing. 3. Real message behind tithe? Please teach me something new please.....I'm waiting |

Goshen360:Jesus did not call those who tithe sinner and as a Christians we shouldn't. most of Jesus parables is about money, and humans are naturally greedy. the Bible say were your heart lies that's were your treasure is. as a man who is naturally greedy, if you see 10% in your income as to big to give, its show that your heart is tied on your money and not God......you may claimed that you love God more than your money, but what about your neighborh? |
