Jarus: If Martins never deserved African best, don't you think he at least he deserved to be nominated for 2004/2005 season? Abi can you explain why FIFA recognized Martins if thoroughly he did nothing? Dong Shortlisted for FIFPro Young Player Award China U-20 forward Dong Fangzhou has been shortlisted with some of the game's biggest names for the first FIFPro Young player of the Year award, which will be presented on September 19 in London. FIFPro, the worldwide representative organization for professional players, released their shortlist of 12 names for the award on Thursday, which included the 20-year-old Chinese striker alongside Holland's Arjen Robben, Brazilian Robinho, Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo, Freddy Adu of the United States and England's Wayne Rooney. Dong was signed by English Premier League giants Manchester United from China Super League side Dalian Shide in a high-profile transfer last year. He spent last season at United's feeder club, Royal Antwerp, scoring six goals as they finished fourth in Belgium's second division. Dong was also part of the China squad that finished second at the AFC Youth Championship in 2004, scoring the winner in his side's 1-0 victory against Qatar during the group stage. FIFPro Young player of the Year award nominees: Dong Fangzhou (China), Javier Mascherano (Argentina), Wayne Rooney (England), Arjen Robben (Holland), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Germany), Robinho (Brazil), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Cesc Fabregas (Spain), Rio Mavuba (France), Giorgio Chiellini (Italy), Obafemi Martins (Nigeria), Freddy Adu (United States). [quote author=Joebie post=63463713]I too want KC to succeed. In fact I have a soft spot for Manu’s 2013 eaglets. But let’s not forget that KC was promising, Else he won’t have got a working permit to play in the EPL. And he started very brightly. I can’t wait to see him fulfill his full potential. But comparing him to Salah is premature. It’s not a matter of what’s my opinion. Just learn to say it as it is sometimes, even when it involves your boy. You don’t like KC as a footballer more than |

Joebie: I watched him closely yesterday and I was impressed with his performance. This is the time to lure him to the WC. He is going to be a very good addition to the WC team. |

terzurum5: The same thing happened at everyone between koeman and niasse. I think it was even worse for Niasse because the coach wasn't playing him and went to the media saying he had no plans for him The only thing; Niasse was cool headed and responded positively by working on his game And we all know how it turned out. 2 Likes |

APOTY does V. Moses deserves to win? NO. Does he deserves to be in the final 3? YES. If I must confess, a part of me is happy and at the same time the other part of me is sad. We will have to wait another year before Nigerian can have a shot at the award again. My happiness stems from the inability of V. Moses to clinch the most glamourous continental individual award in football. For the sake of the national team, a team in high gear, preparing for the World cup in 6 and a half months time needs the least form of distraction. The Moses I 'knew' will grow wings and become complacent if he had won/win either of the versions of the award(BBC n CAF) which won't benefit the team at the long run. I believe he is a strong man and hopefully he'll handle this disappointment well. I see him been spurred to do more next year. Which will benefit both him and the nation. THIS IS JUST MY VIEW. |

We need to stop this government management of league teams and make it more private sector oriented. This means that people must be willing to pay more at venues and buy team jerseys. Private investors need to get involved as well. Clubs must be run profitably. This government business model does not work. |

tbaba1234: These guys look older than 15 year old boys. I am highly convinced they have slashed 2/3 of their ages. They are older than what they have declared. In short you can see the no 10 & 12 look so malnourished. I am speaking from **experiential knowledge** of what is common with the Nigerian sports terrain. I don't believe their declared ages 1 Like |

Joel Obi did his thing once again for 75mins as his team beat Roma in Rome. It ended Roma 1 vs 2 Torino. Nura Abdullahi made Roma match day squad but spent the whole game on the bench. 3 Likes 1 Share |
