If Ojokanjo(too ugly) who once played for Nigeria tells his son to run for his life what else needs to be said.
I wonder o,this was a real rooted guy playing for shooting star then,if am right(icon4s, goldfish80, enomakos) one of the defected shooting players during training tour in Europe,so what do you expect.

Honestly Ojokojo and Irofa senior falls my hand cos of them am always praising Iwobi and Aina Dads for great encouragement giving to their wards to represent Nigeria.

If am Rohr i will be sentimental and takes Iwobi and Aina to WC to spite them cos Nigeria did a lot for them especially Dominic Irofa.

I will really feel bad if Aina should miss the world cup party.

Me too but his play has been sloppy sometimes.

But we cannot afford to make mistakes in the defense at the world cup

I will also feel bad for an player who doesn't make the final cut after paying the qualifying games.

Hence the need for them to up their game and pray no serious injury befalls them

Omeruo, based on current form, is the best Nigerian CB.

Well, he's not really in our good books yet in the GWG. If he replicates his 2013 form, it'd be difficult to drop him.

This is great news. I really hope we get them. Would be sad if one of Shehu or Aina gets dropped. I like them both and hope it's possible to take all 3 but we have Idowu to consider and from the looks of it, Echejile is guaranteed a spot on the team.

But bros, why is Echiejile guaranteed a spot on the team

Don't you think e should consider current form.

Or is he hot at the moment?

I pray Sokari would not be another Nwakili.

My Oga is insider saying Felix Uduokhai, Kevin Akpoguma, Jordon Torunarigha are sure bet to WC?If that's the case then am seeing repeated performance of 2014 meaning some players who sacrificed for the team during qualifier likely to be dropped for FB.

Initially what we thought here was a keeper, a midfielder and an attacker to beef up the team but now defenders. But with your info now likely for us to have new set of players.

Sir with your comment it seem Rohr has settled for 3-5-2 formation and is looking for players to prosecute it which paved way for the likes of Uduokhai, Akpoguma, Toru.

I hope it works out cos am sensing danger cos we had a system that made us qualified for WC but it seems 45 minutes performance against Argentina is changing things now and Rohr should remember we have Argentina to contend with who are a great performance at WC no matter what,Croatia is there which w not be an easy match cos it would determine our stand in the group, also Iceland very unpredictable match.
Hahahaha hahahaha hahahaha oga Kog45. Life is funny oo. I remember well when some monikers here were lambasting Rohr for being 'tactically timid'. Now he wants to be bold and try something new and Kog45 has doubts (justifiably so Sir). My point is that one cannot satisfy people.

I appreciate ChrisKels for bringing us this juicy snippet of information but Kog45 remember the interview Rohr granted to 365 magazine which was posted here for our reading. Remember he said that the nature of the opposition would determine the tactics we use and that he needs about four more players. While I understand your reservations I want to ask would you rather we stick to our tested tactical formations for all the teams we would play against than adopt tactics based on the opposition we meet?

I too I'm concerned about having our backline filled by inexperienced defenders although I see them as good backups. Let us not forget the SA loss and the lesson it taught us. Secondly I hope that if we secure this guys their commitment to the Gwg will stretch beyond the WC. We want Super Eagles players not WC players.

To me, I'm satisfied with Idowu at LB. Not many are. Jordan Torunarigha is a left footed natural LB plays at CB at times and if Echiejile isn't going to the WB I'd take him.

We need another holding AM in place of Mikel. Joel Obi/ Aluko would do. But they are not really Rorh's spec, he likes his midfielders defence-minded.

I don't really like the Onazi-Ndidi combo, one has to drop for another, they are both high-octane performers as Mujtahida once suggested. So someone who is a bit more calm, covers those loopholes would be great, Ogu is there. Sokari and Sanusi can be added.

We need another CF that can also play at the flanks as well.

At CB, Rorh might drop both Omuero and Agbo. Omuero can only make a case for himself when he performs better. Agbo to me is a DMF, I'd never be comfortable seeing him play at CB.

But bro, I think dropping Omeruo might not be a good idea.

I don't quite agree with some of our forum members giving Argentina automatic qualification on the grounds that they will get better

Lets not forget that other teams are also working assiduously on getting better.

I know they are going to parade an array of stars but football is a team sport and there are no longer minnows in the game

If not for Messi, they would not be going to Russia. Its also becoming too apparent that they cannot play without the diminutive soccer genius which actually gives them away

Now I'm not saying for a fact that they wouldn't qualify, but they wouldn't find it easy either and may even crash out.

Remember Spain in 2014

But from the few glimpses of Agu in the GWG so far, he hasn't really shown he is the right man to replace Mickel, he may be good though, but we are looking for a suitable replacement for Mickel here, which means he must be both a defensive and ball holding, creative midfielder. l can't really say Mickel Agu has these qualities but l may be wrong though.

You cant find Mikel replacement in any nigeria player... Players will remain themselves that's it..

Let keep inviting them ...till will find Rohr taste...

The only way Shehu and Aina makes it to the WC is if Shehu takes the place of a midfielder, which is unlikely.
My guy Shehu us 100% going to Russia. He has cemented that position and though I like the competition in the RB position, he has been a main stay in that team since breaking in in 2015 and I don't see him losing it to a FB.

But it's true. Let's me explain my hypothesis to you:
#1. Iceland will be tougher to beat than Croatia
#2. Iceland would lose to Argentina in their first game. This is not because they are not good enough but due to rookie mistakes (playing their first ever match in the World cup and coming up against the great Leo Messi)
#3. Iceland would be ready when they face us in the second game because they would've corrected the mistakes they made in match 1.
#4. If we lose to Croatia, the pressure to beat Iceland would be too much and that would impact our game and get us exposed for them to exploit
#5. I believe we can beat Iceland if we could win or draw the first game against Croatia
#6. If we win or draw against Croatia, our chances of qualifying from the group would increase to 60%, because the Argies would win their first two games hence they would most likely have qualified before they meet us
#7. Hence, here's what we need to qualify:
- win or draw against Croatia (preferably win)
- win against Iceland
- draw against Argentina (or we may even lost against Argentina provided we were able to win our first two matches)

O pari

# Don't be so sure of Argentina winning their first 2 games. They have very good players but only in their frontline. And they aren't that good as a team without king Messi. They are highly dependent on the MESSiah (but I strongly believe we can cage him successfully). This is not Barcelona so Messi won't find it very easy in their first 2 matches especially against Croatia. Remember how ordinary Peru beat them in the qualifiers even with Messi. They could not even beat Venezuela and Bolivia at home with Messi present ( why wouldn't we beat them again?). So to me they're a slightly overrated team right now (a one man team). So don't be surprised if they fail to win their first two matches.

# Moreover, do you think Argentina are going to take it easy when we meetbinvour last group match? They'll certainly go into that game with revenge in their minds. So whether they've already qualified or not they dont care... Theyvwon't take that game lightly with us, so don't take it for granted . They'll want to beat us for a revenge.

What Felix or Akooguma are u referring to? Let's be realistic here for once please

ChrisKels:

Yes he is, that's the position begging for personnel(s) in that midfield. If Sokari comes good (secures a move to France), then, we would have a better sub in him for John Mikel. The few times Ndubuisi Agu subbed Mikel, our midfield crumbled and it lead to calls for Joel Obi, Azubuike Okechukwu et al.

Come March, I would wanna say thank goodness for the emergence of Sokari.

Off topic; From an insider, Rohr is making progress with his pursuit of the German trio. I heard they were sent a template to study the plans of the coach and how they will fit in. Rohr is seriously considering the 3-5-2 formation and OLA Aina might miss the World Cup. It's a straight battle between Aina and Shehu whoever does better in the scrimmages gets the nod to join Ebuehi who has booked his ticket with his impeccable performance against Argentina. Aina is better going forward when we play four at the back but Shehu defends better, it's a pussle (Rohr's headache).

Fingers crossed ; if Rohr succeeds in luring these boys before March, then expect this rearguard against Poland ;

..................................Uzoho

................... Ekong Balogun Felix*

...........Ebuehi Ndidi Mikel Onazi Idowu

............................Moses Iwobi

Bench;

Awaziem or Akpoguma* for Balogun
Toru* for Idowu
Etc etc

I agree that the Argies are frontloaded. I also agree that their defenders are aging and error prone. And I even agree that the Argentina has not played as a team so far ... they struggled thru the South American qualifiers. But you are forgetting three important points in your analysis:

a. Argentina would've qualified easily, if they were not unfairly penalized and points deducted from them in the qualifiers.
b. For the past 10 years (starting with Diego Maradona's coaching stint), Argentina has not had a good coach. The team has literally been carried by the players, especially one Leo Messi grin But now they have a pretty decent coach who would have about 2 months to tinker and meld the team before the big dance.
c. Any team with Messi should be considered one of the favorites. No one gave them much chance in Brazil 2014, but Messi carried them all the way to the finals and were brutally unlucky not to win it all. Hence, Argentina may be a one man team but when that one man is Leo Messi then there's always a chance. After all, the current Barcelona team is a one man team (Suarez is having the worst slump of his career. Iniesta is not the player he once was. Busquests has slowed down tremendously. So who do they have left - Leo Messi).

Finally, the only way Argentina would play with full strength against us in the final game is if they need to win that match to win the group. Other than, they can present their B side ... if they have already won the group, that is. It's only you naija fans who take these friendly matches serious, Argentina don't care. They don't see any rivalry with Nigeria .... Nigeria is yet to beat Argentina in a competitive match, besides age grade competitions. So there's no rivalry here.

The proof is one round of matches??

Omeruo's team has suffered some heavy defeats in recent weeks.

Against Fenerbache, they conceeded 4 barely 2 weeks ago. 3 against Trabzonspor a few days later... that is 7 goals in less than a week this december.

Ekong's led defence in Bursaspor has been far better.

In terms of consistent performances, Ekong and probably Awaziem have been better.

Flashback.........

Torunarigha – My father told me to shun Nigeria for Germany

EMMANUEL OKOGBA
21 MAY 2017

Highly rated German-Nigerian defender Jordan Torunarigha has confirmed his father Ojokojo Torunarigha told him playing for Germany is best for his career than representing Nigeria.

•Torunarigha
As reported, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) approached the 19 year old Hertha Berlin left back to switch allegiance to Nigeria from Germany where he has played at four different youth levels.

However his father Ojokojo who played 12 games for Nigeria in the 80’s revealed he told Nigeria that his son is not interested. A claim which Jordan has now confirmed.

Jordan is yet to team up with the Germany U-20 team at the World Youth Championship in South Korea due to the club duties, and he reckons progressing through the ranks at Germany is his aim.

“ I was told of the interest from Nigeria by my father but as someone who has played for Nigeria in the past, he advised me to focus on progressing through the ranks with Germany instead of considering a switch to Nigeria “, he said.

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/05/torunarigha-father-told-shun-nigeria-germany/amp/

Like we really care.... if ur daddy likes, he should start his own country for you to represent

For some of us from the old school of thought, yall remember this song.

I love my country I no go lie
Na inside am I go live and die
When it turns me so, i twist am so
E push me, I push am
I no go go!

Naija till I die......
