OMANBALA1:I wonder o,this was a real rooted guy playing for shooting star then,if am right(icon4s, goldfish80, enomakos) one of the defected shooting players during training tour in Europe,so what do you expect. Honestly Ojokojo and Irofa senior falls my hand cos of them am always praising Iwobi and Aina Dads for great encouragement giving to their wards to represent Nigeria. If am Rohr i will be sentimental and takes Iwobi and Aina to WC to spite them cos Nigeria did a lot for them especially Dominic Irofa. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Humility017: Me too but his play has been sloppy sometimes. But we cannot afford to make mistakes in the defense at the world cup I will also feel bad for an player who doesn't make the final cut after paying the qualifying games. Hence the need for them to up their game and pray no serious injury befalls them 1 Like |

Kog45:Hahahaha hahahaha hahahaha oga Kog45. Life is funny oo. I remember well when some monikers here were lambasting Rohr for being 'tactically timid'. Now he wants to be bold and try something new and Kog45 has doubts (justifiably so Sir). My point is that one cannot satisfy people. I appreciate ChrisKels for bringing us this juicy snippet of information but Kog45 remember the interview Rohr granted to 365 magazine which was posted here for our reading. Remember he said that the nature of the opposition would determine the tactics we use and that he needs about four more players. While I understand your reservations I want to ask would you rather we stick to our tested tactical formations for all the teams we would play against than adopt tactics based on the opposition we meet? I too I'm concerned about having our backline filled by inexperienced defenders although I see them as good backups. Let us not forget the SA loss and the lesson it taught us. Secondly I hope that if we secure this guys their commitment to the Gwg will stretch beyond the WC. We want Super Eagles players not WC players. 3 Likes |

nelszx: Haa Balogun. I want to see this guy play but if Rohr says there are better individuals at his position, then so be it. He knows best This word cup though, these payers are equally under pressure to deliver consistently at their various clubs so that they don't oose their spot All in all, its for the good of the country. |

I don't quite agree with some of our forum members giving Argentina automatic qualification on the grounds that they will get better Lets not forget that other teams are also working assiduously on getting better. I know they are going to parade an array of stars but football is a team sport and there are no longer minnows in the game If not for Messi, they would not be going to Russia. Its also becoming too apparent that they cannot play without the diminutive soccer genius which actually gives them away Now I'm not saying for a fact that they wouldn't qualify, but they wouldn't find it easy either and may even crash out. Remember Spain in 2014 2 Likes |

Icon79:# Don't be so sure of Argentina winning their first 2 games. They have very good players but only in their frontline. And they aren't that good as a team without king Messi. They are highly dependent on the MESSiah (but I strongly believe we can cage him successfully). This is not Barcelona so Messi won't find it very easy in their first 2 matches especially against Croatia. Remember how ordinary Peru beat them in the qualifiers even with Messi. They could not even beat Venezuela and Bolivia at home with Messi present ( why wouldn't we beat them again?). So to me they're a slightly overrated team right now (a one man team). So don't be surprised if they fail to win their first two matches. # Moreover, do you think Argentina are going to take it easy when we meetbinvour last group match? They'll certainly go into that game with revenge in their minds. So whether they've already qualified or not they dont care... Theyvwon't take that game lightly with us, so don't take it for granted . They'll want to beat us for a revenge. 5 Likes |

I'm impressed at the depth and quality of discussion of Super Eagles here. I didn't know there are still Nigerians still passionate about Eagles like this. I tried starting discussions like this on NL in 2007/2008 but not many people were interested. Only myself, honeric01 and few others cared about SE then. If it wasn't Arsenal or Chelsea or Barca, no one cared. I get to see Safarigirl on SE threads that made fp but didnt know this deep thread existed. Well done, guys. 11 Likes |

I agree that the Argies are frontloaded. I also agree that their defenders are aging and error prone. And I even agree that the Argentina has not played as a team so far ... they struggled thru the South American qualifiers. But you are forgetting three important points in your analysis: a. Argentina would've qualified easily, if they were not unfairly penalized and points deducted from them in the qualifiers. b. For the past 10 years (starting with Diego Maradona's coaching stint), Argentina has not had a good coach. The team has literally been carried by the players, especially one Leo Messi But now they have a pretty decent coach who would have about 2 months to tinker and meld the team before the big dance. c. Any team with Messi should be considered one of the favorites. No one gave them much chance in Brazil 2014, but Messi carried them all the way to the finals and were brutally unlucky not to win it all. Hence, Argentina may be a one man team but when that one man is Leo Messi then there's always a chance. After all, the current Barcelona team is a one man team (Suarez is having the worst slump of his career. Iniesta is not the player he once was. Busquests has slowed down tremendously. So who do they have left - Leo Messi). Finally, the only way Argentina would play with full strength against us in the final game is if they need to win that match to win the group. Other than, they can present their B side ... if they have already won the group, that is. It's only you naija fans who take these friendly matches serious, Argentina don't care. They don't see any rivalry with Nigeria .... Nigeria is yet to beat Argentina in a competitive match, besides age grade competitions. So there's no rivalry here. O pari MetalJigsaw: |

goldfish80: The proof is one round of matches?? Omeruo's team has suffered some heavy defeats in recent weeks. Against Fenerbache, they conceeded 4 barely 2 weeks ago. 3 against Trabzonspor a few days later... that is 7 goals in less than a week this december. Ekong's led defence in Bursaspor has been far better. In terms of consistent performances, Ekong and probably Awaziem have been better. 2 Likes |
