Granted that some countries (like Poland and Portugal) have manipulated the ranking, but FIFA ranking is still a good measure to evaluate a team. After all, if you can't accept Argentina's raking then you shouldn't accept Brazil or Germany's rakings either. O pari MetalJigsaw: |

Kog45: I'm sorry mister, it seems u have problems with the moniker Chriskels. Why do u always come hard on me? Why do you so much love misconstruing my posts just to counter? Do u struggle with comprehension abi wetin? Dude it seems you are too emotional. I said March friendly and you are busy misquoting me. Did you read anything suggesting that the lineup I dropped is against Croatia? Did I not write Poland (which is even a guess) there? Mind you, no serious contender at the world cup goes with just a pattern (formation). Formations are subject to oppositions. Whether Rohr is gonna make 352 his primary formation is another story. |

Mujtahida:Mujtahida thanks but you know what there is need for us to be cautious in our approach, definitely a team must have different tactics but my major concern with Chriskel insider comment was when he said it seems 3-5-2 w be the main tactics and was the reason for German trio, truly Rohr said he need four more players, with the trio who are defenders then remain one. If Rohr is saying Balogun Leon Troost Ekong,Chidozie Awaziem,Omeruo,Idowu,Abdullahi, Aina,Ebuhei and Echiejele are not enough for any formation then i fear cos i don't see the inclusion of German trio at a go as something good for the team. I have come to realize a lot don't want any criticism towards Rohr, everything from his side is damn good, people should realised this is not our first time of going to WC,so there is need for serious evaluation of the team without sentiments cos anything short of quarter final is a failure. |

Icon79: Football is not like that, Italy needed to beat Sweden but could not. France (world champions at the time) in 2002 could not beat debutants Senegal when they needed to.. Argentina (world champions too) in 1990 could not beat Cameroon when they needed to.. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Icon79:A large number of teams do not deserve their current FIFA ranking. Peru being in top 30 of the FIFA ranking. Iran also way up the FIFA chart ahead of Nigeria, Australia and several others. Argentina- a one man team being placed 4 Ahead ahead of Spain... Oh my! I can go on and on. 8 Likes 1 Share |

OMANBALA1:Patience is main deal. Now the question is that: does the club, manager and the fans have enough of that patience to make it happen? Nacho is getting back his touch but very slowly. If my memory serves me right, he only had two poor touches against Argentina(one led to Idowu's goal and the other one which I can't recollect now) which to me is a sign of improvement considering how poor they've been in recent time. I feel for the young lad. He is presently undergoing a tough time. hope he pulls through. 3 Likes |

The way some people are underestimating Argentina is making me laugh. Na today una start dey watch ball?? This our friendly win is clouding a lot of people's judgement. There's a 90 percent chance that they beat us next year...Infact if the players go with the mindset on here, they'd get thrashed seriously. Never write Argentina off. 1 Like |

Of course, anything can happen in football and any country can beat any country on any given day. But I was trying to caution against is a situation where we try to take the Argies for granted simply because we've beaten them in a friendly game. That would be a big big mistaken. Argentina is still the top dog in our group and we should treat them as such. Remember the last time we defeated them (was it 4-2 or 5-2) in a friendly game in Abuja and two days later they trashed us in India or where? Anyway, my point is, our main target would be to get results against the team I would call direct oppositions (Iceland and Croatia). And if we end up getting something out of the Argentine game then that would be a bonus. O pari tbaba1234: 1 Like |

tbaba1234:My brother don't that guy. I doubt if he's truly Nigerian. So Argentina didn't need to win the match but the fielded their A team that us only without Messi. They didn't need to beat us but they beat Russia in a previous game before meeting us. What if they had beaten us what would he have been saying about the team. |

Kog45: Chriskels never said 352 will be the main formation, rather he said the formation was seriously being considered by Rohr. Whether it will be the main or auxiliary formation, I don't know and I never specified it but I can beat my chest and say 352 will be one of Rohr's formations in Russia. I guess av made myself clear? 1 Like |

edi287:It's simple Argentina is a power house in football anytime any day and no team would under rate them, whether we like it or not they are favorite to top our group but anything can happen in football. My major concern is Croatia match, very important for us cos it w definitely determine our fate at WC. US 94 we beat Bulgaria in our first match,France 98 we defeated Spain in our first match we moved to the next round,at 2014 WC we drew Iran still make it to next round meaning our first match is the key not even Argentina match. 5 Likes |

Argentina this Argentina that. Argentinian football is in decline. This is their last chance saloon to win the world cup with this generation of players. This generation won the U20 world cup in 2005 (beat Nigeria in the final), this same generation won the Olympics football tournament in 2008 (beat Nigeria again). Since 2008, Argentina in terms of youth football has nothing to write home about. They have flopped in the U17 and U 20 categories even in some cases barely making it out of the south American qualifiers. Before our friendly match I predicted we would beat them. The world cup next year will be an eye opener for Argentina. I personally don't see them coming out of that group. Our last match with Argentina will be irrelevant as we would have qualified and they would be out. 9 Likes |

This thread has been filled with innumerable boasts of Nigeria coming out of our WC group and this gives me the laugh I cannot describe First, the friendly match against Argentina is nothing to measure Argentine's ability, it will be a heavy disaster if we think its same Argentina we met in the friendly we will meet at the WC. Second, I see this SE team as a work in progress probably at its infant stage which requires patience and long consistent hard work. We need a blue print for developmental process for the SE which must be sincerely adhered to. We should stop all these stumbled-on-successes. We must not allow sudden successes confuse our future focus of birthing a SE team that can be stable and compete with formidable teams. Third, I see this WC as a learning process for us even if we are eliminated in the group stage, we must keep our focus of building a formidable team worthy of taking on any team. Our football must go beyond this epileptic behavioral show of scanty successes and work on taking our football to a stable stage I wish the SE the best 3 Likes |
