Funny enough chelsea keep renewing his contract. They could have cut him loose if they thought he was rubbish without the prospect of ROI.

You and I know that renewing contracting is not always because you consider a player to be quality. It is about preventing the player from leaving on a free transfer.

At Omeruo's age, the time for loans should be over. He should be settled and building his career.

You've hit the nail on the head sir

One wonders why they haven't completely sold him

Because they have not gotten good offers and would rather not let him go for free.

I beg to disagree with you on the reason for Nash's poor defense. It had to do with his footwork and athleticism and not his height. He payed in an era filled with very athletic point guards and he couldn't guard them. Besides, Chris Paul (a 6ft PG), has been nominated to the a NBA defensive team nine times while Sidney Moncrief (a 6'3 guard for the Milwaukee Bucks of the 80s) and Gary payton (a 6'4 gaurd for the Seattle Supersonics of the 90s) both won the Defensive payer of the year when they played. So i don't think his height was the reason for his poor defense

But i know he deserved both MVP awards. This is a guy who turned the fortunes of the Phoenix suns when he came from a 20+ win/season team to a play off team with 60+ wins in his first season and at least 55+ wins in subsequent seasons.

Sorry, I just saw this ..... Generally, no 2 players are the same .If you have a small PG, you have chances that you will loose a little bit of something in defence.

That said, Nash is like the Mesut Oezil of basketball.

Players still leave on free transfer every season.... I came came across a publication which claimed that Premiership clubs let go on the average close 1000 players every season. It's likes revolving door with these clubs run by capitalists.
If the think you're not worthy of the investment, they cut their losses. Without sentiments.

Yeah, players sometimes refuse to renew.

Other times, the clubs do not consider the player as valuable enough. Usually youth players

For Omeruo, Chelsea can get a few millions so it is better to renew than risk him going on a free especially with the investment on him.

They find him worthy of investment. Hundreds of players have left Chelsea without the club putting anything on the table

moreover he is a Chelsea player...opportune to understudy from some of the best defender's in the epl
I doubt that Iorfa will play for us, you know the proverbial saying opportunity comes but once? Well it hit him in the face and he didn't even know it, he passed it on.
Well this ship has sailed but then again the future is pregnant.

Iwobi can be good and frustrating in equal measures. A bit like Sterling was before Guardiola did his magic on him.

he is quite okay....at least he will offer something more useful more than Agu contributions during his combo appearance for the super eagles...besides no body is closing the door on Joel...let them all first for their shirt....in the team.
The Humble One, you're right. It's been a long time since I watched him play.

Barring any injury crisis, there is only 1 slot up for grab at the Mid-field. Let's say you were presented with a poll of players(Agu, Sokari, Joel, Nwakali) to pick from which one will you pick Sir provided the variables are constant?

Iwobi isn't playing poorly, my friend. Arsenal as a whole has been passing poorly in the first half, so don't just pick on Iwobi.

And by the way, did you see the assist he just gave to Xhaka for the equalizer?

Arsenal just took the lead via Ozil. Arsenal 3 Liverpool 2 - coming all the way from 2 goals down.

Are you watching the game? Because sometimes reading some comments on here makes me wonder whether some of y'all actually watch the game you comments about on here.

Arsenal was poor in the first half but that has nothing to do with Iwobi. It was a general poor team performance in the first half ... everyone was giving the ball away including the usually reliable Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. Liverpool players were just beating them to every 50-50 ball. And if you're going to pick on anybody, you'd pick on Jack Wilshere and Xhaka who gave up the midfield to Liverpool.

meanwhile, Wenger must have spoken to them because a different arsenal team come in the 2nd half. If I were to pick on Iwobi for anything, it gotta do with his poor defensive effort.

I was watching the game purely from the perspective of a Nigerian. Iwobi can't justify giving the ball away as much as how did because Sanchez and Oezil gave the ball away.
If I pull Iwobi's heat maps from the first half, you will see he hardly made one accurate pass .
I dont play to the gallery of emotions when I analyze games.

What's my business if Xhaka/ Sanchez aren't playing well? I'm neither Swiss nor Chilean.
The interest here is Nigeria.

Some forumites arent catching this game and they depend on the reports of those of us watching.
Should we now report falsehood because we want to cut the players some slack?

Arsenal fans aren't impressed with Iwobi either... some reactions I just caught.
They are dishing it out to Cech, Sanchez,Ozil but I rather not post them. Not our business

Iwobi really needs to be doing better tbh. The real problem with him at the moment is confidence. I don't know what more Wenger needs to do to boost his morale. He does the simple things wrong and the complicated ones right. He was VERY nervous first half.
The guy has to be careful not to turn to Ox ooo.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon79(m): 10:57pm On Dec 22, 2017
No, I wasn't trying to justify it either. I was just putting things in perspectives. Arsenal was generally poor as a team in the first half ... they barely put any foot right and allowed Liverpool to run rings around them. I don't think that Iwobi was anywhere near the poorest Arsenal player in that first half. Hence, if anyone needs to justify their inclusion(s), I would start with Ozil, Wilshere, and Xhaka all which were non-existent in the first half. And you don't even want me to talk about Arsenal defense.

Like is said, in my opinion, Iwobi has two areas to improve. First he needs to improve the defensive side of his game. He doesn't wanna develop the reputation of someone who only plays on one side of the pitch. Secondly, he needs to add goals to his game. He should demand for the ball in the final 3rd and take shots whenever he gets a chance. And finally, I might add that he needs to improve his energy level. He needs to become a 90 mins player. If not, it would become a luxury to have him start games.

Like I said, the entire Arsenal team was poor in the first half. I was only reacting to you picking on Iwobi for criticism. The team improved in the second half and so did Iwobi. And he ended up providing an assist for the second Arsenal goal (scored by Xhaka, by the way). And Iwobi would have gotten another assist if not that Lacazette pulled the ball high.

all reactions have at least three players being blamed, not just Iwobi.

Those are just four random reactions though, random reactions could go both ways.

Anyway, I no watch the match.

I think I mentioned in their last match that Iwobi misplaces passes a lot, he was just losing the ball anyhow and you could tell he was either nervous, uncertain or juat scared by the way he played

Looked nothing like the Iwobi that plays for Nigeria, I suppose he continued like that in this game. I think he lacks confidence in an Arsenal shirt and I can't say why that is

Something must have happened psychologically to him because the Iwobi that first made a break in Arsenal's team, the #Big45 Iwobi was a ball of confidence, this #Big17 is weak

bros you could say he was playing poor like other players, But saying stuff like he is not justifying his inclusion, is another thing.. Would you say that about ozil, or Sanchez, even though ,the were playing badly too.. Like iwobi didn't work hard to start, and he just flew from heaven to start playing in the first 11..

Like I said, you wanted to pick on the boy, with negative criticism so quick..
