Try plantain .. it requires little weedin and monitorin...and the gain is superb

I have been thinking of plantain as well, due to the fact that my job won't be sparing me daily, only weekend or forthnights.

Can you enlighten better in plantain cultivation.?

dont know much about osun state but here in ondo state i will advice you buy suckers from ministryof agriculture....They have healthy and enough stock. Then you get locals to plant...Just leave for 6 to 8 months.Its will reproduce youngs itself so you can even sell suckers by next year.But plant when rain is aboutto start so heat wont killthe young

With threads I've been following so far here in NL, I think you should go for Oil Palm or Cocoa, inter-planted with plantain.

Cocoa is fine, but its we have limited people interested to harvest your palm tree again..

Or what do u think

Can't really decode what you're saying, but I think both cocoa and oil Palm has viable market readily available.

where in Osun state?

OP go on "absentee farmer" crops. They include cocoa,plantain,cassava,oil palm and oranges. Check how you can mix the cropping. Goodluck to you.
I see you as a very luckyman because here in Abia I find it hard to get a 10 year lease of 250 square meter for my 2018 cocoa start-up talkless of 1 nectar.
I was not disappointed as another family is talking to give me a 1.5 hectar farmland to develop cocoa.

Rice grows only on water locked land meanwhile cocoa is a long term investment. You start harvesting maybe after 5yrs. Cocoa cultivation on a leased land would not be adviceable.

I quite agree with you, one shouldn't try cultivating cocoa, oil palm etc.. on leased land. Envy can set in at any moment.

Apology for the responds, its at IKOYI, OSUN STATE.

What I believe about palm tree is that, people that do the harvest are limited.

Harvesting of palm tree use to give headache. I have seen a lot of palm tree along the village ripe for harrst but fallowing away
