I visited that hospital in August with my dad for his routine check up. Was just pondering in my mind how on earth Amaku General Hospital Awka became a teaching hospital cos of it's capacity. The hospital is small in size and cannot be a teaching hospital .,. embarassed RIP young lady!
You are talking about size....did you have an encounter with the doctors and nurses? Down to the lab scientists? They are all HORRIBLE!... ok, One of the lab scientists collected my dad's blood sample for some tests and asked him to come for the result after three days (normal time interval).
On the appointed day, the idiot told my dad that there was no result that he lost the sample and carelessly told my dad to position his arm for another blood sample

RIP to the dead. Medical professionals should improve. If you had know you would have dome some test for her instead of waiting on them. All you said On her death leads to hypo glycemia. I may not be the best in the proffession but God will see us through.
They didn't give ANY hx here nor examination report for u to make ur tentative dx, u know? Hypo.g couldn't hav killed her like that cos according to the story, she was conscious all tru even to d dying minute . Rather they narrated she had her body all packing up at once with loss of sensation from her limbs upwards...
I think more info is needed which could hv been gotten from some tests and examinations but weren't done

People are very quick at branding Doctors as the Devil.
You didn't tell us what she was suffering from;
Your friend was ill and you simply went to the chemist to buy drug only to go back when her case became critical.
It is unlikely that your friend at that age will take ill same day and her condition deteriorated same day.
Nigerians have the poorest health seeking behavior you can imagine. It's only after they are tired of native medicine and pastors that they remember the Doctor expecting miracles.
Doctors are not magicians. I'm pretty sure people will be singing a different song if they heard the hospital's side of the story.

What type of ailments killed your uncle and grandpa? Or your ignorance deprived you to ask simple question.
Patients die every hospital in the world.
If you like, you can keep weeping for the country forever.
Doctors should be crying all the time because you are on sick bed right?
You are talking like a disciplined person online. What's your profession and how do you perform your duty?

Majority of the populace are just too gullible. You believe every word of the reporter right? Smh

Abortion doesn't make you weak in d leg!

Abortion doesn't make you 'not feel your whole body'!!

Abortion doesn't cause all of those things that was wrong with her!!!

The side effects of using abortion pills or getting a D&C from a quack medic doesn't include all of that... Abortion is actually simpler than y'all 're made to believe.

But when you hear of a young lady bleeding from d V area nonstop, or getting dizzy all of a sudden, or dieing of d seemingly simplest of all ailments "headache", only then can you think of abortion.

So my brother, think twice before you disrespect the memory of that young lady with your wrong accusations.

Any young looking doc is automatically a student doctor in most patient's eyes. The reason some docs keep beards to appear a bit mature and professional.

I just have to say this...
Please take a minute or two to go through your comment on a sensitive topic as this and take some time to go for a medical check up (whatever you do, don't forget the mental evaluation).

What's so special about 2025

There you go:

Nigeria Training Doctors for UK, US – NMA President

On 20/Dec/2017

The Nigerian Medical Association has expressed concern over the mass movement of health care professionals to the United Kingdom.

The association raised this subject at the 2017 National Executive Council meeting of the association held in Lagos with the theme: ’Exodus of Healthcare Professional, Time to Act is Now.’

According to the body,  227 medical doctors left the country for hospitals in the UK and the United States for better offers.

The NMA president, Dr. Mike Ogirima, in his address noted that although the patient to doctor ratio in Nigeria was bad, the current spate of migration of medical doctors from Nigeria to other countries had worsened the situation.

He stated, “In 2016, about a total of 227 doctors were reported to have migrated out of Nigeria. More often, the reasons are for a better working environment.  The cost of this migration to Nigeria is enormous.”

Ogirima described the theme of the conference as apt, especially at this point in time that Nigeria was using its hard-earned resources to train doctors to other countries’ advantage.

He said, “Nigeria is losing her doctors and health workers because of the poor working environment in the country. Nearly 300 doctors emigrated last year. More than that number has gone this year. Nigeria is using her resources to train doctors and other professionals for foreign countries.

The Lagos NMA Chairman, Dr. Odusote Olumuyiwa, identified poor welfare and hostile working environment as factors that make Nigerian doctors to consider jobs in other climes.

Odusote said, “If nothing is done to improve the welfare of doctors, it’s going to affect everybody because the Nigeria’s population is growing while that of its health care provider declines.”

Sad that she had to die like that, but I am soo not comfortable with the general level of ignorance to the workings and cadres of staff in the hospital.
For instance, I can't go into a law office and describe everyone there, right from the gatemen to the secretary as lawyers. Thus the story has to let us know if the friend was attended to by medical students (student docs) or by medical doctors cos med students don't man university clinics or hospitals.
Agreed that op added soo much spice to the story that the naive reader could get ulcer from, one thing was obvious: there are questions to be answered.
I don't subscribe to or believe in social media ranting, as it could be prejudiced and biased.
Pls if anyone thinks the doc who oversaw your condition didn't do well, write a petition to the medical council, it's free and you don't need a lawyer to do that .
People seem to get a hard on by shaming doctors. That's the new cool in town. Sadly.

Thunder fire you and your generation!

Mr Due Process. will you say those trash if you lost a dear friend? or you think the medical council won't cover up and protect their integrity? How many times have any written note was given utmost investigation and attention?

your type just need to die and leave the planet for sane people
