Joebie: Na who tell you I sm getting heated about the issue? I am only pointing out the hypocritical and bias analyses of people here. The point is the three German boys have rejected Rohr's advances and they did it openly thesame way the Queen's boys did but nobody is against or in objection against such move. Why? But why are they against or in objection of those Queen's boys? Is that not double standard? Some people are not here to scout better players for the team all they want is their brothers in the team but me, I no go block my sense of reasoning with sentiments else I become a daft headed being devoid of critical common sense That's why I don't bother if a FB rejected us at first because I know the heart of man is designed to change hence my open heartedness towards any naija player both home and abroad. |

What about the hundreds of players being ignored? Should they go to Kuwait or Qatar or Malaysia? Martins moved to a more exposed league, ezekiel moved to an obscure league. Don't make it sound like it was because he was ignored, dude followed the bucks shikena. He made a bad career decision, no excuse whatsoever. 6 Likes |

Joebie: OwnGoal Home Nigeria Nigeria My Son Won’t Play For Nigeria – Father Of Bundesliga Rising Star Torunarigha Tell Rohr May 15, 201703620 Former Nigeria youth international forward Ojokojo Torunarigha has confirmed his son Jordan Torunarigha is not interested in playing for the senior national team of Nigeria. Torunarigha is rated as one of the upcoming defenders in the German Bundesliga, where he scored his first senior goal over the weekend in their 2-0 win over Darrmstadt from his role as a left back. He is presently with the U-20 team of Germany, and his father confirmed Nigeria have approached his son over a switch of allegiance as exclusively reported by Owngoalnigeria.com, but he told them his son is not interested in playing for Nigeria. ” I always say to him play like you can play football, and you can see it has helped him progress from the youth team of Hertha Berlin to the main team, and also for Germant through U-16 and now U-20. We were approached by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). ” They wanted my son to play for Nigeria but I told them he is not interested “, said the father who played 12 matches for Nigeria and also represented Chemnitzer FC in the 1990s. Presently he works at Hertha Berlin as coach of the U-10 of the Bundesliga side, and aside Jordan his other son Junior plays for Dutch second division side Fortuna Sittard, who are coached by former coach of the Nigeria national team Sunday Oliseh. http://owngoalnigeria.com/2017/05/15/my-son-wont-play-for-nigeria-father-of-bundesliga-rising-star-torunarigha-tell-rohr/ However his father Ojokojo who played 12 games for Nigeria in the 80’s revealed he told Nigeria that his son is not interested. A claim which Jordan has now confirmed. Jordan is yet to team up with the Germany U-20 team at the World Youth Championship in South Korea due to the club duties, and he reckons progressing through the ranks at Germany is his aim. “ I was told of the interest from Nigeria by my father but as someone who has played for Nigeria in the past, he advised me to focus on progressing through the ranks with Germany instead of considering a switch to Nigeria “, he said. Whether he said it or nor is inconsequential to me because me I still want us to get him but for clarification sake, you can read the reason he has not pledged to play for us. |

Hull’s Odubajo Set For February Return After Long Injury Lay-off Peter Oriaku 3 days ago Nigerian-born former England U-20 defender Moses Odubajo has set his sights on returning to full training in February after being sidelined with injury since 2016. Odubajo, 24, has not featured in a competitive game for Hull since the Championship play-off final win over Sheffield Wednesday in May 2016 after suffering a freak injury on the eve of last season. A dislocated kneecap initially ended plans for a Premier League debut but two further setbacks have since left the right-back sidelined for a total of 17 months. And according to Hull Daily Mail Odubajo who is still qualified to play for Nigeria as he has never been capped by England at senior level, is now hopeful he can get the green light to resume full training at the end of next month. “I’m due to the see the specialist at the end of January and hopefully it will be good news for a return-to-play date,” Odubajo told Hull Daily Mail. “From here it’s all pretty straightforward if things go to plan. “I’m doing some training outdoors now which is good and I’m always around the boys again. Over the Christmas period there’ll be a little bit of rest but then get ready to go again in the New Year. “I’m only looking forward now and fingers crossed I’ll be making my return before the end of the season. “Only time will tell but I’m optimistic. I just feel like it’s only a matter of time before things go my way.” Hull who also parade Super Eagles defender Ola Aina are currently 19th on 22 points in the Championship. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/05/torunarigha-father-told-shun-nigeria-germany/amp/ Can he make it? If he comes out of injury and he eventually displaces Aina, then I know he is good enough for the WC. 2 Likes |

darkelf:left for me just one of those german guys is needed in that defence. I dont think they are in any way better than an in form and internationally experienced Omeruo. but then again i think i can hazard a guess as to why rohr wants to lure then NOW for the FUTURE(take note of the emphasis) he wants to use the clout of our WC to seduce these boys and keep them for the future because Balogun is getting older and losing pace and we need a backline of young men who will gather international experience while still young so we can enjoy them for long. this is just my guess and i see problems with it: we cannot use our costly WC ticket just so to lure these guys. because if we do so invariably that means we have to cap them at the WC which i dont think we should do. so left for me these guys except one should be invited after the world cup but by then the allure the wc can no longer be used to lure them. its a bit of a dilemma. 2 Likes |

In addition, you yourself know thatevery single international TV analysis referenced that match while discussing group D. you say Argentina doesn't care but how come not long after we beat them 4-1 in 2011 they quickly organized another friendly so that the balance of power can be restored. don't forget that this last friendly is so proximate to the world cup. it must definitely weigh on their minds rivalry or not. its pure psychology. Not even Argentina themselves except for purposes of mind games can be so dismissive of us and say they don't care. 4 Likes |

Joebie: Out of the CBs in your list only Iorfa is ready to play for Nigeria nau nau though I pray we convince the rest. March is still far and anything can still happen. However, I will either go for Ukpobai and Adarabioyo for the remaining slot for the CB position (if possible both) and will bring either Torunarigha or Deji Beyreuther to replace Echiejile in LB position but I think Torunarigha stands a better chance because he can play CB in 3 mans defence. Ehizibue, Nura and are top talents. They can also play as a RW. |

Kog45:Uzoho is an amazing goalkeeper full of talents and potentials... But he is still a learner. I have only watched him maned the goal post twice( for his club and country) and he well in those two matches. I'll love to have him my world cup team as the third/youngest keeper for understudying and exposure... Sir, you and I know that the World cup is full of pressure, tensions and anxieties being the most glamorous football fiesta on the planet and these makes it incomparable to other football competitions. My Question is can Uzoho stands the heat and pressure when things get tough? He is the last man of defence. any rookie mistake(which is inevitable) will never go unpunished. Can he carry/bear the hope of an Entire nation of over 180million people? Don't forget he is just starting out his career and the least thing is putting him under a condition that could condemn/mar his international career. If your answers to my questions are yes, the boy will have blessing to be in goal for us. |

junnyjake: Is Osaze average? I don't think so. He was the second highest goal scorer in ligue 1 at one time. Is undoing was not going to Juventus to win trophies and that could had brightened his chances of winning the APOTY. I think his goal scoring record as a RW is better than Kanu Nwankwo who played as a SS and CF. |

AIG07:a mistake is inevitable for a goalie at any tournament, I don't know what you classify as a rookie mistake, maybe what Akpeyi did, but I doubt Uzoho is silly enough to do something like that. The way you guys talk of rookie mistake, you would think experienced goalies never make mistakes. What is your definition of a 'rookie mistake'? And who are the first and second choice goalies you want to take to the world cup that Uzoho would be thirs behind them? 2 Likes |

@ Kog45, Omuero, belongs to the group of players fighting for that remaining spot at the back. Omuero, Agbo etc for the Midfield, There are so many players fighting for that slot(don't forget I have once ranked our midfielders on this thread). The likes of Etebo Agu who are regulars too belongs to this group others are Joel, sokari Nwakali etc but I leave the final decision for Rohr to take. Onyekuru is a fine player but I'm afraid he 'may' miss out on the trip to Russia. This won't be because of his ability but he seems not to suit or fit into Rohr's plan. Kayode? Well, i'm sorry to say this. The young man is not going to the world cup. He is not an exceptional player. I've known this right from his U-17days... He is not the type of player we're looking for-he is just an overhyped player. Nwakeme is running out of time but he is a player I wish is given another chance in the green white green. Ogbeche and Martins are old... Between the two I'll pick Martins base on ability. My only concern is that scuffle may arise in the team if these oldies are invited. Will Martins/Ogbeche be willing to recieve instructions from the likes of Mikel and Onazi? I don't want players who will be forming elders and babas for camp wey go spoil team spirit we already have V. Moses who doesn't roll with the boys. Increasing their numbers will only result into factions which will later disintegrate the team. I'll rather have a new invitee to this old men So many criterias |

safarigirl: spot on. We all look for easy labels and tags so as to feel we are experts in life. Joe hart, bravo, seaman and a host of other keepers have made mistakes that if they were young keepers we would easily call them rookie mistakes. Mistakes are mistakes and there are none that are exclusively made by rookie keepers |

safarigirl:My former principal is 33 years in legal practice. When I started legal practice they were certain mistakes I made and can still makes that he will in 98% likelihood not make.Does he not make mistakes? He does but he will most likely not make my kind of mistakes cos he's made them when he was a young lawyer and he has learned from them. I know same thing applies to medicine, engineering, media, fashion etc. Legal practice and football are not the same but experience gathered in any profession gives perspectives on the job that rookies do not have. Joebie: In that list I would disqualify Tosin he is a youth player who is in a big team who is untested. Until he goes on loan and or starts playing regular for City for me non starter. Efe Ambrose is playing in moi moi league but is now clearly one of the most outstanding Central defenders in the entire Scottish premier league. Furthermore his team held Celtic which is a good quality team in that league to a draw with Hibernian and he scored. The same Celtic that beat Anderlecht with Onyekuru at home 3 zero is not an easy feat. Kenny Otigba leaving the Eredivisie to go to Hungary is not a player on the upward trajectory. I have my doubts. My final view is that we need more quality in defence unfortunately the best of what we have, is not really top class. Particularly in comparison to the midfield and forward players. This is a World cup the teams that will progress to the quarter finals will have top quality players from top clubs and leagues. Of course there will be surprises but in the end the big boys will be running tings towards the knock out stages. 2 Likes |

Icon79: What's great about Omeruo For me I use your club form as a launch pad for any measurement of ability. You don't have to be great to play ok in your national team particularly when you don't have anyone who is clearly top class. Consider how loan moves launched the career of Ola Aina, Bertrand Traore, Nathan Ake, Tega, Seyi Ojo, Jordan Ibe, etc. Ethan Ampadu barely a year ago was playing for lowly Exeter he is now playing first team football for Chelsea he is just 17. A loan move gives you the opportunity to show your ability. If you perform you get noticed and you move up. Omeruo was at Middlesbrough and also in the Eredivisie in all these places he did not stand out to be diplomatic. If he has performed he simply would not be in Turkey. So tell me what's great about him. Please let's not be blindly emotive he us not better than Cahill. And with Emenalo in Chelsea I can assure you he will not face any discrimination he just had to perform better. Being great implies world class and if not world class top class and if not top class then very good in comparison to other defenders. Would you call him any of those things. Comparing statistics in different league levels and ratings is an exercise in futility. For instance the Eredivisie has the highest goals to game ratio in the top twenty leagues in Europe. That tells us something abou the league that is ranked below the Turkish league. But back to question ❓ objectively explain what makes him great Assess him as a player etc |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by komekn(m): 1:26pm On Dec 23, 2017 |
forgiveness: One reason is negative emotive prejudice against Nigerian origin players in the UK. I really don't know why The largest pool of Nigerian origin players outside of Nigeria is in the UK. There is no football academy without Nigerian origin players in it. If the esteemed NFF scouting team is doing its job. It should be getting these boys before England. Ethan Ampadu was playing for Exeter City Fc in League 2 he was 15 that was last year 2016. He us now playing for Chelsea first team. If you are outstanding in your team and league you are possibly better than a player who is standing still and forgotten to and struggling to sit on the bench in a higher level club and tier of the English football league system. 1 Like |
