GAINERS AND LOSERS FOR THE WEEK/MSCI ADDITION FOR 21 DECEMBER 2017

MSCI made little additions during the week. Attached was the addition for 21 December 2017 (latest available as at time of making this posting), Gains for the week seem fair and the losses too reasonable.

Caution: Investing is a risky venture. This is just my opinion and I cannot be liable for any loss suffered as a result of following this recommendation All data used are assumed to be correct, but you may need to verify some of the figures independently. You can check data at https://www.globalxfunds.com/funds/nge/ for the movement in the MSCI Nigeria fund

At times when people search the internet for stock trading strategies and post here,my people do swallow it hook, line and sinker thinking they have mastered the process of making huge profits from nse.
Have you ever asked yourself these questions
1.some companies with good eps and always declare fantastic dividends every year and the share price remains low.
2.company like transcorp with bleak future in terms of dividends still remain investors toast
3.investors still don't have confidence in the oil companies listed despite oil is the driver of our economy.

Thanks fxuser for this link. Its worth reading and its always good to ask questions when someone is not cleared about something. The bottomline is to avoid any particular stock to create a large drawdown in someone's capital as he who fights and run, live to fight another day. Preservation of capital is key in all we do.

Bro always remember price appreciation most times precedes changes in fundamental. Transcorp, FBNH, FCMB, DIAMOND, even OANDO will surprise many in 2018. Mr. Market loves springing surprises and looks for the UGLY to perform magic. The BEAUTIFUL and OBVIOUS does not exite Mr Market as such.....can't bring out the spark of element of surprise which Mr Market so DEARLY loves. grin grin

Verily.....Dan flour performed well in 2016, 2017. Don't count it out for 2018. FBNH just started...expect it's strong showing in 2018. More like phase 1, 2 and 3 in re-pricing of the stock grin grin

You will just get HBP!!!

You will be making money for the stockbroker!

If you invested N1m and it drops by 2%, you will sell off.

Let's get a better understanding of your strategy:

You buy a stock X at N1 and the broker charges you 1.5% on your buy. You will pay N15,000 to your broker first. Then they will use the remainder to buy you stock X. You will get 985,000 units.

If after buying, stock X loses 2%, you will sell off.
2% loss on N1 buying price is 98kobo. So you will sell 985,000 units at 98kobo.
Amount that would be realised will be N965,300.

Broker says that you will pay 1.8% for the sell commission. So you pay N17,375.44!!!

You have a final value of N947,924.6 in your portfolio.

Now let's see who is gaining/losing amongst the market, the broker and you.

You: N1,000,000 - N947,924.6 = N52,075.4

Market: 2% of your sum invested (N985,000) = 0.02 X N985,000 = N19,700

Broker: buy + sell commission= N15,000 + N17,375.4= N32,375.4

What this means is that a greater percentage of the money you lost went to the broker grin

And that is (32,375.4 ÷ 52,075.4) X 100%= 62% of the money you lost went to the broker. While market only took 38%.

Stop working for the brokers!!!

Naa trading things!. It only work for one percent of the users (experts). Traders are different from investors.

It is a sure way to lose money by the 99 percent ( non experts). Brokers love them grin

fxuser should be among the 1 percent to be successful. It is another sure way to get HBP

PETERiCHY:
Very lucid reasoning.

The major secret of billionaires is their ability to find solutions to the challenges of humanity. All of them created solutions that brought the billions. Presently, Bill Gates is spending millions of dollars in search of renewable energy. By the time he finds one and become a major player in the electricity industry, we will say he is lucky. But we forget that he didn't pray for financial breakthrough, he only found a solution to a global problem.

Wealthy people don't necessarily look for money, they create solutions, and money will follow them! Larry Page and Sergey Brin went all out to help humanity find things faster on the internet, and billions of dollars followed them. Mark Zuckerberg created platforms for socialization, and over $71 billion followed him. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak went all out to reduce the size of computer. What problems are you solving for humanity?

Some people spend weeks on the mountain praying for financial breakthrough without knowing what to do to be rich. They just want to be rich anyhow. It doesn't work that way. Real wealth comes through solving problems. Real wealth comes when we take a critical look around us, see the challenges that surrounds us, and proffer solutions to them.

One of the major reasons why millions of Africans live below the poverty line is our belief that magic wands will suddenly mint money for us. How many cups of mustard seeds did Mark Zuckerberg eat that made him an 'instant' billionaire? How many bottles of anointing oil did Jeff Bezos drink that turned him into an overnight owner of Amazon?

This is how potential billionaires pray: "Dear Lord, Nigeria has elecrity problem and I want to solve it. Lord, baptise me with fresh ideas on how to solve this problem, and connect me to the right partners to make it happen. Thank you Lord." God will definitely download creative ideas into their minds.

Unfortunately, this is how majority of us pray: "Oh Lord, I command anyone who said that I will not prosper to collapse and die by fire!" Another person will say: "Lord, I need financial favour. I need divine connections. I need financial breakthrough urgently. Lord send money to me today." When God listens to our prayers sometimes, I believe He will look down from the balcony of heaven and wonder why we failed to understand that wealth creation opportunities surrounds us.

*I'm not belittling prayer, but most of us pray amiss*; I pray myself.

Dear friend, it is time to change your thinking and prayer pattern. Stop looking for shortcut to the top, start looking for the problems you can solve for humanity. Money is actually a reward for solving problems for people.

Keep soaring!

This is the real octopus talking. grin

They have a history of controlling the shareholding structure in every company they have a stake in. Nigeria obviously will not be an exemption.

fbnh is just starting. hmm, I won't be surprised if the share price is above access and uba in 2018. Alhaji will also do his magic in 2018. The fundamentals are intact presently regarding dangote sugar, nascon, dangote flour. I won't be surprised if dangote sugar gets to N30, nascon N28, dangote flour N22 in 2018. They will always follow like children of the same father. Also watch out for transcorp... it will make so many people rich in 2018 inspite of the high OS. Oando is another magical stock.....presently it has challenges and other issues with SEC. But once the dust around oando settles expect the price to skyrocket like never before. Oando is a stock for the masters of this game and will always make people rich as long as u know how to play your game. This is just my opinion. please do your due diligence

Negative divergence happens when the price of a security is in an uptrend and a major indicator - such as the moving average convergence divergence (MACD), price rate of change (ROC) or relative strength index (RSI) - heads downward.

Through his technical work, John Magee emphasized these three principles:
1. Stock prices tend to move in trends.
2. Volume goes with the trends.
3. A trend, once established, tends to continue in force.

Transcorp is a stock with huge potentials, but highly dependent on government's policy direction in the power sector. I see fashola taking decisions that may likely favour transcorp.
For C & I leasing, "reconstruction tag" is still hanging over their head. That is not a good news for any listed company in the NSE going by antecedents. Yours truly will not touch it for now, though I made some tasere money from it this year.

Why not follow the numbers and secure your portfolio, at least with Alhaji's children (DS & DF). Thereafter, you can start decorating your portfolio with stocks that may/may not (probability) spring suprises like transcorp etc.

My portfolio for now consists of 68% DF, Presco 15%, Transcorp 12%, WAPCO 5%

DD please.
