First of all I need to appreciate you for maintaining this conversation insult free despite sharing different opinion s , this has been rare on Nairaland this days.
Now I understand what you shared, I have seen many bad side and excesses of Nigeria police but let's cone down to reality, no one or no group of people is so bad that will not have anything good to offer no matter how rarely this happens. Nigerian police have also acted gallantly in some instances and I believe some good ones exists amidst them.
Compliments

I won't lie. I'm usually not that patient. We would have been at cuffs by now. The only reason why the conversation has not gone to the gutters is because i noticed that you had coherence in your argument which is rare on NL. But, that being said, Nigerians have a long way to prove to me that there is hope in that country. Have a good day.

I hope arm robbers kill all fvcking Nigerian police, afterall what's the difference. I will never forget the day I was detained for 5 hours, brutally beaten up and robbed of 40k by police in festac.usual accusations, you are an armed robber even tho they are the ones carrying guns.
I pray for disaster and calamities upon the Nigerian police and their families, I pray sorrow and tears flow freely in their lives for all the senseless murders and maltreatment of the Nigerian people.

Hehehe.

The "zoo" police is working on the orders of Bubu to reduce our population, if not, why must they shoot at the genitals?

Arresting kidnappers is an insult to us, why must they keep hating.

Above is a model response of a typical ipob clown.

Hatred for police taken too far.

Are we saying the police shot at during the operation have no right to fight back.
Are we saying the man kidnapped has no right tonne defended

Correct, if anyone has ever been a victim of kidnapping, or have family that has been kidnapped, or held at gunpoint and watch gunmen shoot their loved ones to death in their presence, then nobody, I repeat nobody will ever have pity on any kidnapper or armed robber, in fact they will start praising the police for killing them. Look at Evans today, upon all his atrocities he still hasn't been convicted because he is rich. I still stand on my words, if those men had a gunfight with the police then they deserve whatever they get because they could have also Killed some officers who also have families waiting for them at home. But if they didn't engage the police in gun battle then shame on the police.

Proper forensic examination will convict the officers. The are rules of engagement in every operation. shocked shocked

Please calm down brosad, I believe some of those vagabonds in uniform are reading this & will think again & change their ways.

We are not there to ascertain that they were shot at after being overpowered.
The victim lost his life here from torture by the kidnappers and we are here fighting for them bad guys
The news said they were overpowered, and no we are not fighting the NPF for arresting those guys. But for human rights violation.

The way I see these police & SARS vehicles with blood and all sort of contamination; one is even more afraid of entering those vehicles than getting arrest.

And with the maintenance culture, low police mural and no money, I doubt that those vehicles get thorough cleaned after usage.

The headline is definitely misleading, they were in gun battle with kidnappers that doesn't care where the bullet hit, groin or head. This ur 'normal countries' even if a suspect shot at them engaging them , they won't care using anything available to catch him including a gunshot if that's what they could use. You are saying they should announce their presence to someone who already shot at them. Policemen are someone's father, someone's husband and someone's children , you can't expect them to be using tasers when the other side hold Ak47
Read the whole thing again. The police already overpowered the criminals. The question is, why shoot them all in their genitals? That is where the human rights violation comes in.

That is not the point. There are rules the police have to use when arresting suspects. Remember this when they descend on innocent civilians ooo.
That is exactly the point. If we all support and cheer on NPF for this, how then are we going to condemn them if they act in like manner to innocent people.
Human rights is sacrosanct or not. We can't overlook human rights in one case, and try to fight for it in another.

Say no to jungle justice .

Some of these kidnappers are repeat offenders and outright murderers.

The police might even know for sure they were killers of men.

We don't support such acts but perplexed police officers rarely have time for chit chat.

Don't blame the police blame the system.

That is the mentality in Nigeria. In normal countries, you don't curtail situations by any means necessary. You'd go to jail for that. You use the appropriate force for the appropriate situation. A policeman is supposed to announce his presence if possible, tell them to drop their weapons and if they refuse engage them with force until the threat is neutralized. Did you read the headline? They deliberately shot them in the groin. How does that make sense to you? In a gun fight, no one thinks to aim at the groin. It means they had already been apprehended and they still shot them. Smh. The things you guys are used to scares the shiit outta me.

Bro, if you have been a victim of police brutality, you will never trust the police again. Until I see the kidnapped man's corpse and speak with at least 20 of his family members before I can believe the kidnap story.

With the Nigerian police, your black can become white. A person can be arguing with a policeman right now and the next minute, he has been shot dead and his body dumped in the back of the van. Then, when they get to the station, they call the media and refer to the dead person as an armed robber that engaged them first.

The Nigerian police is one of the most corrupt institution in Nigeria. Unlike policemen in sane countries who have dash cams in their cars, our policemen have nothing monitoring them and they can twist an incident to suit themselves.

However, I don't blame the police. I blame our society. People like you encourage them to be lawless.

Relax dude, I guess it's a two way thing and could have been either way. Yes I know about police brutality and it's disgusting, we all pray never to be s victim. But still the same time calling everyone the police shoots innocent when u are not there is equally bad. I remember vividly that zenith Bank robber that was killed and photos posted online. Majority of nairalanders were beating their chest that the man was an innocent man and police just killed him and placed s gun beside him. How can people be so sure when they are not even there when it happened. Thankfully after a few months the CCTV of the incident was released and all those people that called that criminal innocent became dumbfounded. And everyone was able to see the brace policeman that gunned that bastard down , unfortunately the officer also lost his life.

I do not support police brutality, but I also would never conclude that everyone the police shoots is innocent or guilty like most people here do. I've seen first hand where Nigerian police engaged armed robbers, bros u no go want near there.

But this particular story does not add up. How could all the kidnappers have been shot in the groins?

We need a total overhaul in our police force.

I never said it is right to shoot them in the groin, it is obvious they shot them in the groin at close range and not in a gun battle. They could be innocent or they could be actual kidnappers that have been captured and shit, nobody knows.whichever is the case shooting them at close range in the groin is barbaric, however robbers and kidnapoers don't deserve any Mercy because they also don't show neecy to their victims. Does that woman killed in traffic by kidnappers on ikorodu road ring a bell? Which sniper will aim people's groin in a gun battle?
