In God we trust, this scholarship is the best for me atm.

Unpopular though.

Applied already? What programmes?
I've sent my application to the (max) 3 programmes of my choosing. MEME, EMPlant and PlantHealth.

All of them are getting back to preselected applicants in February.

Interested in SMARTNET App started 6 Dec will end 5 March.
PixNet too, but that's secondary.

Both needs English Test from Nigerians.

Most, if not all, require an English Language Certificate. Some might accept a letter from your degree awarding institution that your courses were instructed in English.

All the best in your application. smiley

I v identified three courses. one need Ielts of 6.5 with no section less than 6.0. I have 6.5 but one section was 5.5. I'll this affect chances?

I wouldn't know, sorry. One reason for my ignorance is that there's just a dearth of info when it comes to Erasmus. Few forums I've seen discussing it are not even rich in content. I've been relying on what I see on Quora and a friend of mine that got the scholarship.

Your best bet would be to mail the admissions committee you're applying to. They are always responsive. So you wouldn't waste a slot out of the 3 programmes you can apply for.

Apply on time.
Send in your application at least a month before the deadline.

Your letter of motivation or SOP is very important. It shouldn't be plagiarized or written haphazardly. Try write and rewrite it until it convinces you that it can get you the scholarship. Mention how your background qualifies you for the programme and what specifically you want to do in the programme. To help with this, you can simply research the institutions of the consortium you're applying to, check their research strengths and facilities, then link it to what you will do in the programme. If you can get correspondence with a researcher in any of those institutions all the better and do not forget to mention it. Explain how the programme will be of immense benefit to your third world country, highlighting the specific areas in which you can apply the knowledge of gained from the programme.

It took me months to write my letters of motivation. Some programmes give questions to answer briefly on your motivation, cutting out your work for you. So it pays to know the programme you are applying to beforehand, so that you can prepare.

Don't know how academic references are assessed, although their letters and presence in the research world matters. Use professors.

Your performance in courses relevant to the programme is more important than your CGPA. My friend had a CGPA of 3.8 out of 5, yet he made it.

In event you get preselected, prepare for the interview (phone or Skype). They will discuss your letter with you, just know what you have written in there and do not lie. Reiterate you've been reading research work (on those points you mentioned in your letter) in preparation for embarking on the research in your spare time (it might be beneficial to actually do this). Please do not lie.

Any other thing I did not touch, please lemme know.

Thank you...In contacting consortium schools, are you trying to show your strength or you want a prof/faculty member accept you?

It's not important to contact the schools but you can contact their researchers. It is not an easy thing to get a hold of them (especially as you are not in their schools or country) anyway since most schools don't put the names of their staff out there. Then you'll also have to start search and stalk them on social media or look for their email.
Since this is hard, a better alternative would be to mention your willingness to work with any researcher in the school you come across per chance.
It is just to consolidate proof to them that you are interested in the ongoing research in the programme.

Nice, I think second option will be preferred, although my program allotted 10% to Letter of Motivation.

Wow. Lucky you. I have a programme that allotted 25% to motivation. Least of the three programmes is 20%.

Ah! Stating motivation is hard o. Some of us would rather the marks were allotted to academic excellence or English Language test score. I'd have been happier if my English test was even graded.

They said minimum is 92, so if you score higher, you get a higher equivalent?

I mean, how will they grade English requirement considering the fact that some countries don't need an English test.

Oh. I didn't think about that. I suppose it will be unfair to just give full marks given that someone is from an English speaking country while they make others work for it with IELTS and the likes. Unless they mandate all applicants to produce an English language test certificate. Who knows?

You will need to go through the course catalogue thoroughly. Even if mathematics was not stated explicitly on offer, try look for programmes that have relevance to mathematics.
