Albion05: thank you for the response... what I meant is this... I apply for an M. Sc in Animal Science in university A , getting there, I decide to change course to a bachelor of nursing (graduate entry ) program in same university which is also a 2 year program... will I loose my tuition? will this affect my visa hence the need to visit the DIBP guys... or I should just apply direct to the nursing program? |

Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Albion05: 8:08am On Dec 26, 2017 |
@ Capusle......... please read this very well... 1. Applying to change course from AQF level from higher level to lower AQF level will demand you apply for a new visa. You don't need a new visa if what you are changing is in the same AQF level and also with your original education provider. You will lose your tuition fee because what you are changing to is not in the same AQF level irrespective of the Course been in the same education provider. If your headache is nursing, why not apply for Bachelor of nursing from the onstart. Read this and you will understand better...... including the Australian Qualifications Framework level AQF level which is from level 1 -10 . Changing courses If you hold a Student visa and are thinking about changing your course of study, ensure that you continue to meet all the conditions that apply to your student visa. If you have not completed six months of your principal course (the main course of study you are undertaking) and you want to change your education provider, the ESOS National Code explains the circumstances in which this will be possible. Unless special circumstances apply, you usually need to have permission from your existing education provider to transfer to another education provider. If you want to transfer, your education provider must assess or consider your request to transfer. All education providers have documented procedures about their transfer policy. Make sure you understand your education provider's transfer policy, and what your written agreement says you must do, before you attempt to enrol with a new education provider. If your education provider does not give you permission to transfer to another education provider and you are not satisfied with the outcome, you should first use your education provider's internal appeal process. If you are still not satisfied, you can appeal the education provider's decision at an external complaints handling body such as the State or Territory Ombudsman or the Overseas Student Ombudsman. If you change courses and your new Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for your principal course has a shorter end date, you must depart Australia or apply for a new visa within 28 days of completing your principal course or your visa might be considered for cancellation. Information about changing courses if course packaging is also available. If you have changed courses or education provider we will be notified electronically by your education provider. You do not need to send your CoE to us. Students holding a Student visa (subclass 500) If you already have a student visa and want to change your main course of study to a lower Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) level course or a non-AQF level course, you will generally need a new student visa. This requirement applies even if the course you change to is with the same education provider. You will not need to apply for a new visa if you are changing from an AQF level 10 course (doctoral degree) to an AQF 9 course (Masters degree). For example: if you are studying a Bachelor of Science (Level 7) at a university and wish to transfer to a Diploma of Accounting (Level 5) at the same institution, you would need to apply for and be granted a new student visa. if you are studying a Certificate IV (AQF level 4) and want to transfer to an ELICOS course (non-AQF course), you will need to apply for and be granted a new student visa. If you are studying a non-AQF course and want to transfer to an AQF course, you would not need to apply for a new student visa. Students holding a Student visa (subclass 570 – 576) If you want to change to a course that is in a different education sector to your current course, for example, changing from an ELICOS course to a Diploma course, you need to apply for a new Student Visa (subclass 500) because your visa subclass will not be appropriate for your new course (or package of courses). If you were granted your visa under streamlined visa processing (SVP), you must continue to satisfy the requirement for the grant of the visa. This means we could consider cancelling your visa if you seek to transfer to a different education provider who was not an eligible education provider (before 1 July 2016) if: it is within the first 12 months of your visa being granted, or you are not from a country that was Assessment Level 1 before 1 July 2016. AQF-Levels: AQF levels AQF levels and the AQF levels criteria are an indication of the relative complexity and/or depth of achievement and the autonomy required to demonstrate that achievement. AQF level 1 has the lowest complexity and AQF level 10 has the highest complexity. The AQF level summaries are statements of the typical achievement of graduates who have been awarded a qualification at a certain level in the AQF. Click on the level below to see the details of each level’s criteria. Level 1 – Certificate I Level 2 – Certificate II Level 3 – Certificate III Level 4 – Certificate IV Level 5 – Diploma Level 6 – Advanced Diploma, Associate Degree Level 7 – Bachelor Degree Level 8 – Bachelor Honours Degree,Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma Level 9 – Masters Degree Level 10 – Doctoral Degree Here is the links for what I posted. Ultimately you must contact and discuss with your Student Advisors and your education provider because they play a major role in making this successful. https://www.aqf.edu.au/aqf-levels http://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/Trav/Stud/More/Changing-courses thank you for the response... what I meant is this... Hearty Congratulations to everyone who has received their grants and are in or planning to arrive Australia. Just a friendly reminder that life isn't that easy or rather rosy if you are looking at marrying study with work. Although, It has been achieved in the past and it's still achievable but them you need to put in hardwork, determination, and most of all rely on your God. If you plan on remaining in Australia after your studies, make sure your course is on the skilled list and hopefully it won't be removed before the end of your study. Choose courses that are hard to remove or replace on the skilled list. For those looking at using an agent in Australia be careful. There is corruption and widespread visa rorting in Australia. Don't be gullible, make sure of whom you are dealing with. Some companies wanting to sponsor you may exploit you, so be careful. Australia is truly a land of opportunities endeavor to exploit it. Do not be carried away but remain focused. Godspeed as you start a new life in Australia. 13 Likes |

Joyfree: I just went to a travel agency to get my flight and hotel booked. They have all the experience and don't charge extra. You just have to be careful with these airlines. The amount of money you stand to lose if anything should go wrong is not beans. Its better I pay a certified agent and know that I have one less thing to worry about. |

Joyfree: There a few websites out there to use. https://flatmates.com.au/find-place and Gumtree are very common ones. Download Gumtree Australia app. Register and search for Flatshare & Houseshare in your location of choice. Do not pay or sign for a long contract as you are not sure if you will end up liking the house in terms of proximity to school or work. Ask to pay by the week to enable you look for better opportunities. Rather than paying from Nigeria try to negotiate payment upon arrival or better still leave a $10-$20 secure deposit for the said room. Hope that helps. |

kelsy90:Are you changing school as well or just course. If you remain with same education provider (School), it's possible to change course provided you give them a good reason for changing. It may prove difficult changing schools as in the past you have to stay with the provider who brought you in for at least 6months. With previous requirements you also need to get a new ecoe from your provider and then apply for a new visa. Your current medicals and health insurance can still be reused for visa application. |

Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by fobak203(m): 1:17pm On Dec 29, 2017 |
@ziinee Firstly, you can avoid GRE and TOEFL by going the Canny and Australian way. GRE is recommended by some high profile schools in Canada. In my own search for Ph.D, I realized focus is the mother of success and I concentrated all my effort on Australia. Recently, IELTS is just no longer schools requirement but has also become a visa requirements. In essence, you might not be able to do without IELTS. First step, Google to ascertain the schools offering your course on a PhD level in Australia, contact the supervisors by writing an excellent and catchy introductory mail, this is only achievable if you speak the academic language of the senior researcher. Contact as many as possible even after getting positive remark from them, continue the correspondence. Apply for admission, indicate you want to be assessed for scholarship during the admission application, they usually go hand in hand and do that early enough. You can join ARCAMAD, Scholardev, scholarship positions etc for more notifications of recent openings. You can also write 2 or three articles during this time, to show commitment to research, mention your previous research, current research and future research embankments in your proposal. These are roadmaps and pointers. This cannot be replaced by personal research on your part. Search keywords on this thread for closely related answers like mine. PhD admission and scholarship fall on you as you make efforts and pray. God will reward your effort with succeas 4 Likes 1 Share |
