Third world country mentality.. why not ask gas station owners to put up a sign at all gas stations that prohibits using handsets... mention on the notice that it attracts fine... must citizens be victimized all the time with police brutality ? Is it not time to start treating the citizens with dignity and respect... I know what this law is gonna do to every day people.. 3 Likes 1 Share |

[quote author=emma321 post=63758918]The police have said that making phone calls at filling stations is a criminal offence which could land the offender in jail. The Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, stated that an offender could be prosecuted and jailed for attempted arson. He noted that police officers have the authority to arrest anyone found making phone calls or smoking at filling stations. He described the filling station as a public facility where motorists cannot act as they like on account of the inflammable products like petrol and other petroleum products being dispensed there. Moshood, therefore, cautioned the public against violating the safety rules forbidding smoking and phone calls at filling stations. He said, “Making phone calls or smoking at filling stations is a criminal offence and the police, of course, could arrest anyone violating the safety rules put in place to safeguard life and property at the filling stations.” What rubbish crime is that one? Which law criminalizes making calls in filling stations. Does this man know what constitutes crime at all? And how crime can be established and the fact that you cannot be tried for an offence which is not contained in our laws? Establishing crime which is by proof beyond reasonable doubt is not the same with establishing negligence or other tort where you will start looking and linking causative factors. |

skyhighweb: This is just a myth! Nigerian police and stupid laws to enable egunjeism! 1. The signal of your self phone is too small to ignite flames even with explosives 2. There's no single PROVEN occurrence anywhere in the world that this has happened. I even watched this on myth busters many years back. They proved the improbability of this. Static electricity is the culprit. 2 Likes 1 Share |
