schrisade: So sorry about your denial bro/ sis. Your interview to me was good but the statement of account you presented was wrong. VO's from my observation prefer Personal Bank statements of sponsors and not Company bank statement of sponsors. If you can address this, kindly refire. 1 Like |

jerrypeacelinks: The visa you can get anytime but I'm afraid those fundings might only last just 2017-2018 session. Fall 2018 would be 2018-2019 session, another allotment and application. Let them know about the hassle on time and see what they can come up with for you for the next session. |

Kevoki: Is NY not part of U.S or they have different DHS rules concerning non immigrant visa categories? Your student SSN card carries, only for work under DHS authorization. Working outside campus without DHS approval is illegal in all the 50 states in U.S. Don't regret losing a life time opportunity because of one petty money from amazon flexx. 3 Likes |

Fwesh101: Ask this from those NIVs that are frequent here. Your student loan either Sallie Mae or not is a full liability of your cosigner if you use a cosigner. |

My program starts on the 11th of January and my flight is scheduled for 10th, January and I am supposed to attend the orientation on the 11th, January. Do I face any POE challenge considering the fact that orientation is mandatory but classes starts on the 16th, January. |

Is there anyone here who got his/her visa approved between the 17th of December and now and has gotten an email to come pick up their passport yet? |

Accscholar: Thanks so plentiful for the insightful feedback bro. That means I will be looking at Spring 2019 but I still need some clarifications on issues baffling me; 1. Will I apply for the GRE before hand or I must study for 2 to 3 months first and apply afterwards? 2. When exactly is advisable to apply to schools as I'm eyeing spring 2019 now? |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by Accscholar: 2:22pm On Dec 31, 2017 |
bigwizzy001: 1. You can first start preparing and when you know you are fit, then register for the test. 2. Check the websites of the schools for deadlines, then you can clear your GRE like three weeks before deadline and apply to the school before deadline. Why do you assume, though, that I'm a bro. That's kind of sexist lol. 1 Like |

Fwesh101:sir your loan not will not be considered as a proof of fund because you have to provide the lending company your visa b4 they can process the loan b4 u get approved .. So the only documents you may have to even use at the embassy is a pre approval letter of your loan which they may not consider as proof of funds. The second reason has been pointed out by someone here earlier You can't payback your loan except you work in the USA that means you have the intention of migrating which does not qualify you for an f1 visa . You can get a soa from your family because even the school needs your soa b4 they provide you with i20 and all if u haven't gotten all those docs from the school you can't even apply for the loan talk less of a visa . Good luck 2 Likes |

goodemma20:This will probably be my last post on this.Do you plan to come back to Nigeria IMEDIATELY after your studies? 99% sure the answer is No, so why didn't you inform the VO about your OPT plans when he/she asked you your after study plan? Your guess is good as mine. Yes the law doesn't bar you from OPT or taking loans but common sense will tell you that talking about OPT or showing proof of approval of US loan facility shows you are an intending immigrant. He is not the first international student to take US loan and he wont be the last, what he is supposed to do is staring him in the face but he has failed to see it. If he successfully pulls this through, he should come back and inform the forum how he did it but if I were him, I wont take chances and waste 63k.Have a good day and compliments. |

Teedawg:VOs and school officials are well aware of the fact that no education loan is totally approved until you start schooling, that's why people have gotten I-20s and even visas from the pre-approval letter. The fact that you're borrowing the money from the US does not make any difference at all, money is money irrespective of where it is borrowed from and that is why money can be sent to anywhere in the first place. Had it been that you must stay in the US to pay your loan, US govt would have barred international students from taking loans from their banks in the first place. My advice for fwesh is to use the loan approval doc if he can't get a legal SOA from a close relative. Don't forge documents if you can't get a legal SOA. people have gotten visas with loan, I don't see why your case should be different. 3 Likes |

goodemma20:the reason international student are granted loans in the first place is because they have an American citizen or resident as a cosigner so indirectly they are not giving international student the loan but their cosigners. Government can not control the banks decision to lend money to whom ever they want to that's (have you heard of capitalism?)Second he can't even get the loan if he doesn't have his sevis number from his i-20 which he won't get until he provides the school with his proof of funds from a bank statements. Other students from India and wherever have acces to loans that they don't need an American cosigner to be granted . 1 Like |

You all are making the loan thing sound easy. 1. You can’t get a US loan as an international student without a US citizen/residents with very good credit score. 2. Indians get loans from their country and not in the US 3. How can you even go to the embassy there in naija with a US loan approval. I mean how did you get the loan approved without you being in the US proving a US address and maybe SSN. It’s technically impossible to go to Embassy with a US loan approval document. You have to be here first. 1 Like |

Teedawg: Prodigy Finance and MPower Finance give non-cosigner loans to Nigerians and they use their pre-approval letters to get visas without issues. I have shown examples of people here that got such loans. Why the fuss? If you cant get financial aid or SOA, you can get loans. Indians have been doing it since time immemorial without issues, Nigerians have been doing it and we have seen them here. Nawao, make we die matter jare. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Hi everyone. Thanks for your I put. I have high hopes of my brother schooling on the US by 2018, but we have been having problems getting his transcript (for his application) from UniBen. So can anyone please advise on a way to go about this? I really hate federal universities, they make things so difficult. |

Chidinho10:Prodigy finance is not an American company its the same as getting a loan from micro finance bank or where ever in your country second its easier to get a loan after your first year also these cooperation mostly offer loans to students going for graduate studies or are at least not in the first year of college . Now the companies that offer loans to first year students like discover, sallie, and co don't do that. List the amount of Nigerians you know that have used these companies pre approval as proof of funds at the embassy and school or even the so called prodigy finance. The Indians you keep talking about are not Nigerians and mostly have a different system if it was so easy we would have had a lots of stories we won't even be having this conversation Also I am not saying this based on hear says alone. 2 Likes |
