How are white men responsible for bribery of the Nigerian Police? If you could explain just this one then we will see the validity of your point.

I rest my case.
Re: , by Nobody: 2:56pm On Dec 31, 2017
Obalende:
Proof of Nigerians being cursed:

1. They knock down road signage time and time again; the Government had invested in blue arrow signs showing you which lane you should take; they keep knocking them down... these signs work in other countries... if the Government had not been putting the signs back when knocked down it would have been back to square one. This means Nigerians are saying by this action: "To hell with development, I want to take the wrong lane at night, slam into an oncoming truck and die"

2. Government had put traffic lights, they still dont stop at red!

3. It takes Government Officials to prevent traffic grid lock. Remove traffic officers, they will be road blockage.

I know someone will come and try to blame all these on the government.

But the truth is that Nigerians are unable to govern themselves. Sometimes I wonder if Nigerians are cursed (the ones who dont believe in any deities that is to say).

All the developments coming to Nigeria are FORCED on the nation by the World Bank, WHO etc.

All they know is to consume and make quick easy money.

And have you seen how these people drive? These are a people that take pride in reckless dangerous driving with no regard for human life and one of the highest collision (accident) numbers in the world...

And then the belief in free money...

Instead of becoming defensive, raining insults or deflecting these truths - can all readers take time to examine why these people behave this way.
Are Nigerians cursed?

Re: Living Proofs That Nigerians Are Lazy Irresponsible Criminally Minded Savages by Obalende: 8:26pm On Dec 30
The so called unemployed youths, instead of going into agriculture, migrating to ECOWAS states for a better life with their ECOWAS passports or otherwise seeking employment with the state government or providing services (receptionist, driver, mechanic anything legit), resort to bribery and corruption and criminal acts (its easier to steal a car than sweep the road and get paid by the government).

Hire a driver and he will even plot how to rob you further proving the suggested curse hypothesis.

Okay take danfo drivers, they gross N600-N700k per month if not more, yet for 10 yrs they are happy to operate run down buses. They even now resorted to one chance despite a chance to make good money with busses. Its easier to do one chance than work. Isnt that lazy/savage?

I will not speak against the current administration because it is clear the government is working to end the things I have mentioned but this is a nation that has a history of perpetual looting - why are Norway Sweden and Finland Governments not looting?

From all indications, its a cursed people. If anybody is opposing this motion, say why.
You spoilt your write up with saying "I will not speak against the current administration...." Like seriously? You're guilty of the same thing you're accusing Nigerians of.

The same administration where the president has spent more time in UK hospitals enjoying medical tourism than on what he is being paid to do. I don't blame you. You're either a political jobber or it's the same cursed Nigerian blood running in you that is making you say the current administration is working to turn Nigeria into an eldorado. It is EXPENSIVE and highly time consuming to maintain a lawn in Nigeria. Look, you can have issues with Naija, but just leave this one out of it. Our climate does not support it. Look how hard we struggle to keep even stadium grass level. You think it's because we don't know how to water grass? It's because of the climate, dude. I think these days they import special grass seedlings for those stadia which is why they look much better nowadays.
not as expensive we are just not into trying new things constantly. There are grasses that could be planted and the major cost is a lawn mower but we prefer concrete.OAU had grasses planted in most surroundings for a long time.

Shell quarters? You expect ordinary Nigerians' homes to be all decked out like Shell quarters and embassies?

Sometimes i wonder why I bother. Please tell us how much Shell allocates to the maintenance of those quarters for the few people there annually, and multiply the amount by 200 million Nigerians, and see if the amount makes sense, for lawns and gardens.

I REPEAT THIS FACT: In Europe, the US and other temperate regions, you don't actually have to plant any grass. Grass grows fulsomely on its own everywhere. Your only job is to trim it!! All you need is a lawn mower!

How dare you say that that is ''the same'' as in Nigeria? You people should please stop this nonsense. In Nigeria if you want a nice looking lawn, you are paying PROPER MONEY for it. Why else do people prefer to pave their entire compounds? You think they don't like gardens?

Do you people actually realise that African soil in general is among the worst on earth in terms of its fertility? If not the worst. We have his myth in Africa that our land is so fertile. That is a view borne of complete ignorance of the reality. Do the research. It's actually one of the historical reasons for poverty on the continent. In Africa, more people are required to engage in farming to yield enough food for the surrounding population, than anywhere else on earth, due to the soil issues. This has traditionally limited the number of people available to excel in other endeavours - a major historical reason for low industrialisation levels.

don't fall into this type of thinking. It is called research and caring for the environment. We like statism or the devil I know is better. A lot of countries do not even use indigenous grasses. you can find grasses suitable for most regions with adequate rainfall. Actually almost all parts of the world have fauna. In the north there are plants that will flourish. Actually there are two major plants if maintained will stop desertification in the most arid regions because they do not need much water. Your leaders know this but we are what I call organic and fresh, we do too little tinkering with things.

I discussed a similar issue with a foreigner. One issue is value, we place too much value on our interest so when we enter into any form of exchange, we have to find a way to extract the most value or gain at the expense of any other party or parties. If we want to sell the preferred way is to sell the cheapest at a considerable higher price or sell quality good at a ridiculous price beyond the benefit to the buyer. A contractor or government employee job is to provide the most gain to his interest greater than the value to the job or the public. An employer is to pay the lower wage and extract a higher benefit. We are in a circle of seeking to extract the most gain by providing little.

The problem is not mental inferiority but mental laziness.

Black people don't treasure Research & Development.

Black students are not ready to spend money to learn more but are ready to spend on unnecessary things.

I have seen professors who shy away from Research & Development simply because they don't want to stress their mind and spend their money/time.

Most importantly, our Universities are not Research & Development based but just classroom based because we place more emphasis on lecturers than Researchers.

We don't even have a cadre for Researchers as we do for Lecturers, Technologists and Technical staff.

Our universities are not attached to any private company for financial support in the area of R & D and Infrastructural development.

We have not even made it mandatory for each department/faculty to have a yearly R & D project work that involves all the Students in all levels.

@ Rossikk talk is cheap but action cost lots of sweat.

lecturers are called researchers by their nomenclature. You can't become professor without being a researcher-- you have to write hundred of research papers b4 you will be promoted to a professor. The problem is with the irresponsible government that we have.

Talk, talk, talk. Provide the grass seeds let us see. Nobody is saying you cannot plant grass or have a lawn in Nigeria. The argument is that it is UNECONOMICAL to the majority of Nigerians to invest in a lawn because grass does not grow naturally on Nigerian soil. It needs to be actively cultivated, planted, maintained. And that is after you've found the right seedlings, at considerable expense! Compare that to the situation in Europe, where NONE of those factors come into play and all you need to do is mow that natural grass growing wild all around you and creating a lawn from that!! That is why everywhere in Europe is green and garden like. The people there have NOTHING to do with it!!! It is NATURE. Expecting Nigeria to be like that is INSANE, because you are asking the average Nigerian to INVEST MONEY and TIME in finding appropriate seeds to buy from goodness-knows-where, creating/maintaining lawns. And worse, some fools are using that not happening as a 'sign of black inferiority!!!'' I mean, it's outrageous. You folks need to rid yourselves of racial inferiority complex. It is really destroying your sense of reasoning.

African Soil Types

By Thomas West

Even though it is one of the largest continents, Africa and its constituent countries have consistently lagged behind the rest of the world in both economic and agricultural development. This is due in large part to the types of soil that can be found in Africa, many of which (though not all) are sandy and arid, making them largely unsuitable for agricultural production on any substantial scale.

Histosols
This African soil type is only found in a small area on the continent, including the coast of West Africa and Madagascar. This type of African soil tends to be acidic. It is typically composed of incompletely decomposed plant material, along with sand or clay. Although not as productive as some soils, histosols can be used for grazing and for some agricultural use if managed well.

Andisols
The andisols are some of the most productive types of soils in Africa, and they are predominantly composed of various materials ejected from a volcano (such as ash and pumice.) As a result, the regions with this kind of soil are agriculturally productive. They are primarily found along the Great Rift Valley.

Arenosols
This type of African soil is found in several regions throughout Africa, particularly around the Kalahari Desert. This soil is often composed of sand, and as a result is often not fertile. Because of this, this type of soil is mostly used for grazing, although it is possible for subsistence farming to be undertaken on this soil with proper irrigation.

Vertisols
These soils are found along the rift from Sudan to South Africa. Because they are composed largely of clay, they become hard during the dry season and sticky during the wet season, with the result that they are difficult to till, reducing agricultural productivity.

Ferrasols
This type of African soil is typically found in the tropical regions, mostly Central Africa. Although these soils are quite stable physically, they are chemically poor, and the nutrients are typically held in the biomass so that plants are not able to access them. These soils withstand erosion well, but they do require a great deal of irrigation and other agricultural work to be productive.

Aridisols
This type of African soil occupies a substantial portion of the continent, with most estimates placing it at approximately 26 percent. This type of soil occupies a number of environments, including dunes, salt pans, and rocky lands. Because these soils are sandy and arid in composition, the soil is mostly unusable for agriculture.

Actually YES, EUROPE'S SOIL IS LIKE 2O TIMES more fertile than African SOIL. FACT. Look it up.

Go and read Jared Diamonds's Guns, Germs and Steel. He explains why Africa has always struggled with food, water production etc

The KEY to which region is developed versus not developed, has to do with SOIL/CLIMATIC QUALITY.

Studies have even shown that only about 4 or 5 out of the edible animals on earth can be domesticated in African conditions, compared to 20 or more in Europe, America and Asia. That is why in Europe you can raise Turkey, Sheep, Goats, Chickens, Cows, Pigs, Ostrich, Buffalo, Ducks, and many many more animals, under natural conditions. In Africa, it stops at cow, goat, chicken and bush meat. Finish. The rest you need substantial capital investment that often makes it uneconomical.

Now listen to me to understand better how Nigerian Universities work.

Lecturers hardly have time for Research & Development because of the nature of their work.

They teach, give assignments/tests/exams, mark, record and evaluate the students who are in their hundreds & thousands.

Because of their tight schedules & the large number of students per lecturer, it takes the grace of God for them to engage in serious research except they use final year or post graduate students project work to get the compulsory 15 publications that qualifies them for Professorship alongside the mandatory 12years lecturing experience.

For this reason, it is advisable to create another cadre for Research & Development staff who won't be distracted by classroom works filled with hundreds / thousands of students per lecturer.

Name the animals in Nigeria/West Africa that can be domesticated for consumption under natural conditions. Very very few compared to Europe, Asia, and the Americas.. FACT.

Excerpts:

''Thus, one can explain as follows the reasons why the people who spread around the world were Eurasians, not Aboriginal Australians or Native Americans or sub-Saharan Africans. The reasons had nothing to do with differences in the peoples themselves. Instead, the reasons were continental differences in the available wild plant and animal species suitable for domestication, resulting in earlier domestication of a more productive suite of domesticates in Eurasia, plus Eurasia’s east/west axis that facilitated the spread of those domesticates throughout Eurasia.''
