hello medicos, pls I'm in need of your advice. I'm just 20yrs old and I applied ABU Zaria for an admission to study MBBS and the Admission list is out since one month ago but unluckily I was given medical radiography moreover radiography is a new department in Abu Zaria. my aim in life is to become a medical doctor which is a dream since childhood. so I don't really know what to do I.e if I should go for the course or not or prepare for jamb next year. the worst thing is that I've never heard of the course even once in life and I don't know how marketable it is here in Nigeria and abroad. I'm very confused, pls give me the best piece of advice pls thank you all and happy new year in advance |

Fweshman: Dilemma(s) like has been in long existence I have 3 options- *Go for it and write jamb 2018 *Go A-levels and write jamb 2018 *stay @ home and disturbed, and write jamb 2018 If you aren't sure, go for radiography... I believe there are better comments coming.. 1 Like |

Fweshman:Go for it bro. I was in a similar situation some years back and I made the mistake of not accepting the admission. 3years down the line now and I am still hustling to get the course I rejected earlier on. Accept it and re write jamb, don't stay at home. Don't make the costly mistake I made, except u are 100% sure u can study and get it next year. My 2cents 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Fweshman:My first post for 2018... I hope it helps you I think you should start by opening a thread asking for Nigerian radiographers to give you first hand experience on the career. With this you can critically examine the pros and cons of the course. After that, you either like the course or the hate it. The next hurdle would be to decide whether or not you should let the course go. I would usually advice you carry both along so you don't end up losing on both ends in the event that things don't work out but with Dr.ISISs' success story, sometimes taking the risk is the best thing you can do. Take some time and think about it. There are no right choices as we can't foretell what the future holds. Goodluck pal and a Happy New Year to you 4 Likes |

Godspell: Sorry, but I don't know where you got this thing from.... Provided you are licensed to practice by the regulatory body... You are equal to another..... Medicine and Dentistry is beyond varsity control... It is Nationally based..... The blacklisting of varsities for medical training have stopped since.... There's qualifying exam one have to write, if you want to go abroad.... Graduates of allAccredited medical schools in Nigeria are free to do so.....if you are talking about the degree of consideration by the foreign medical boards and the slight changes in curriculum, I will give you some credits..... But saying one medical school supersedes the other is a no no..... Doctor na Doctor, provided he has a genuine license 3 Likes 3 Shares |

NEW YEAR STUFFSTORMING How does edema lead to increased aldosterone secretion? (i do nt mean the vice versa) what do you undestand by circadian rhythm? lesion at optic chiasma leads to? why is adrenaline injected alongside with lignocaine in regional anaesthesia? 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Thewhizzkid1(m): 3:16pm On Jan 02, 2018 |
hagiosfemi:1. Lemme guess its extracellular edema. Extracellular edema means the fluid is leaving the cells to the ECF. Thus, the cells are dehydrated. This leads to secretion of aldosterone to try to stop the dehydration. 2. Circadian rhythm includes the cyclical changes occurring in the course of 24 hours. Mainly controlled by the suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus. 3. Anopia 4.?? Never heard of lignocaine 2 Likes |

Break time is over. It's time for us to return to the field and continue from where we stopped. I wish you all success; those preparing to get in via UTME/DE/Transfer...those preparing for MB...etc. May God see us through.. A usual sad feeling has overwhelmed me...I go miss my family! My wife....my son... Oh boy! What new skill would he have learned by the time I would be back home? Only God knows... As you leave your various homes for school, remember to keep your head down and "do the thing the best way you know how to do it." May God help us all, amen. 5 Likes |

pls for direct entry into medicine and surgery, what's the minimum grade acceptable for B.Sc? |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Bobola07(m): 5:18pm On Jan 03, 2018 |
chinonyinye: depends on the school. officially, some require a minimum of second class upper, while some accept second class lower. however in reality, you need a very strong upper, if possible, a first class sef cos of d fierce competition. |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by MrEgghead(m): 5:57pm On Jan 03, 2018 |
chinonyinye:2.1 but those with First Class will have more chances. 1 Like |

chinonyinye:2.1 minimum, first class is an edge. your performance in the D.E exam. in uniben I heard if a case that after all this people still performed well that they now started using NYSC certificate to screen them |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by RoastedCorn(m): 9:35pm On Jan 03, 2018 |
Fweshman:baba if you think becoming a doctor would make you rich like the society portrays, issa lie, big lie self. I know a doc that after Internship and NYSC had no job and started teaching English at a coaching centre, I know another working for an NGO collecting 20K salary, don't come to medicine with the mind that you want to make money but with the passion yo save lives. secondly its very appalling that you haven't heard of radiography when you are coming to the medical line. Radiography is a nice course, a good one at that. I'd advise you take this admission now and take this next jamb, that was what I did too. 3 Likes 1 Share |
