I would encourage Nigeria nationalism and patriotism. I would implement a new tax regime which would tax according to your income/wealth. implement competency test which would do away with lurkers and ensure employment/promotion based on merit. invest heavily in agriculture in fact I would borrow Saddam or Gaddafi's model of government involvement in agriculture esp for rice and cassava for at least 2 yes before other crops as such heavy investment in rice in 4 million hectares can easily earn the country over $1billion annually and Nigeria has over 36 million hectares of arable land. privatise the railway as it seems the required capital needed for its expansion would be to much. revisit or revoke privatisation on power. nationalize the transport sector esp interstate transport. stop issuance of contracts esp road. the ministry of works is not there to be ministry of contracts and employ people to wot invest in health sector esp putting a model where the senior minister is in charge of public healthcare, disease breakout e.t.c and the junior is in charge of health infrastructure, hospitals e.t.c and ensure the take off of the NHIS scheme. encourage states to sell/privatise the football clubs. a full capacity stadium of about 65,000 can at the very least net a club over #890mn per season. also invest heavily in other sports, university sports to remove youths from idleness and give them a source of livelihood. invest in the education sector and encourage both old and young to go back to school . make sure schools teach ethics. stop lecturers from striking. try all possible best to make education as free as possible. it is a right not a privilege. encourage start ups and research in the universities to encounter inventions. in science and technology encourage think tanks and research institutes. Nigeria once had one of the best crop research institutes in the world, its time to take that position back. encourage research in alt fuel. also research paranormal claims. discourage teen and unmarried pregnancy as this brings unwanted social trouble, also encourage adoption and discourage more than 3 children per family in order to put our population dynamics under control. discourage the propagation of bad morals being passed by celebrities by making laws to discourage such and also discourage pirating/copyright infringement. also encourage arts and crafts and tourism ensure the security forces are trained in public skills and punish severely those who violate human rights. let every agency know its jurisdiction and not be used for grudge or revenge mission. buy new weapons/ for them esp the police, set up an internal affairs unit that monitors officers and also hire trained psychiatrist and psychologist. That's all for now my hands are paining me. will continue later 2 Likes |

darnley16: Thanks a million my brother. This country deserves good leadership with clear vision that will deliver our nation from the shackles of corruption and poverty and redirect us along the path of unity of purpose, sustainable growth and development. We can't afford to suffer again in the hands of incompetent leaders riddled with mediocrity and foolishness. |

For me I think the first thing will be 24/7 electricity minimum 18/7 electricity, all phone and internet charges has to drop or your leave Nigeria, all farmers begin to get loans and produce their own manures not chemical manures, all civil servants from 50 above must be retired and constant pension should be paid let the youths fill in empty vacuum left and all organisations must have a compulsory 12 pm -2pm break, fuel prices has to go back to normal, Naira's value has to increase by all means. All students from primary - university students has to have at least one sport to partake in and be serious about it so as to reduce the rate of heart diseases, every politicians in each level from senate to commissioners should be 2 from each state, and finally every one has the benefit to 60% medical insurance, then we have to bring back environmental routine every KAI official will be assigned to 2 streets, all Nigerians forces must be tried and punished for every misconduct. And any organization who doesn't obey these rules shall be sued to court by workers and say no to extra working hours except it is an emergency mostly in medical fields. Public transport has the right to no more than 150 Naira for full trip, every user of government owned buses and trains within each state shall have permanent or temporary rechargeable train tickets. |

SmartyPants: A supreme national conference should be constituted by my government with the aim of formulating a new and supreme national constitution which will be signed into law by Mr President. During that conference, I will use my presidential powers to lobby for what I want. Indeed, the bicameral legislative system of government shall be done away with and a more flexible legislative house will be established. The masses will be galvanised and stimulated by me power and popularity nation wide to see to it that what we want is brought to existence. |

To be honest genocides and homicides will happen, finding a means to reduce the population of the country too by reducing the health facility standard(substitence), strict family planing, bilateral migration of citizens to a less crowded country, zero importation/high importation tariffs, change in the educational sector, massive industrialization, power revitalization,Road construction&lastly currency Valuation |

ConsensusGroup: It is easier for 4 ethnic groups to come to an agreement than 250 ethnic groups. Do you think it is only the Hausa Fulani people that oppose resource control.? Don't you know that Yorubas and many Christian ethnic groups up North also oppose Resource Control. How can Nigeria grow when most ethnic groups don't have faith outside SS/SE oil & gas |

divinehand2003:words are easy. When you enter aso rock, sit on the presidential seat your eye will open to wickedness, the evil sacrifices done there will change your crown from angelic to demonic and all these bra bra bra will be forgotten. Nigeria is doomed. The only solution is decentralisation of power. |

divinehand2003: You cannot do this without: 1. The agreement of the National Assembly first; 2. After which you require the agreement of the people by way of referendum. In other words, forget it. This is practically impossible. We need a president who can set realistic and achievable goals. |

SmartyPants: Jonathan almost achieved it. Besides, as a smart president, I ought to ensured that my candidates are chosen as Senate president and speaker of house of assembly. In addition to this I will ensure that I place strategic men to occupy key positions in the NASS. I won't be as dull as Buhari who let the process run haywire to his own detriment. |

If i am opourtune to become the president of this great country. I will start by sacking or giving compulsory retirement to all senior staffs of all the government parastatal.the civil servant are our problem they are the ones giving those politicians avenue to steal and they themselves have stolen so much that they can establish their own company without a bank loan and they got the experience. This will be the best rather than telling a new graduate that has no money nor experience to become an enterpreneur. We must be joking . After the compulsory retirement or sack all the junior workers will be promoted and new graduate will be employed with good training on the job and ethical standard will be maintained .with this i have solve the problem of unemployment in the country. The sack senior civil servant will be paid all is entitlement and forced to establish a business that will employ and also the newly employed. Nigeria will become better . |

mrskillz: I will educate you better after you find out if Delta and Rivers have indigenous Igbo population.? Re: How Would You Fix Nigeria If You Were The President? by SmartyPants(m): 3:42pm On Jan 02, 2018 |
divinehand2003: Never. Under Jonathan there was a sovereign national conference indeed, but the issues that were tabled certainly did not include any abrogation of the National Assembly, which can be done only through the National Assembly itself, going through the process i outlined in my previous post. Anything else is treason and is immediate grounds for impeachment. Secondly you are saying you will get it done by placing key men in strategic locations? This would work only if the goal is to pass regular bills and such but a bill basically asking the legislative to destroy itself will not see the light of day and it should not for that matter. This is not only unconstitutional and unlawful, it also gravely violates the principles of separation of powers and would undermine our democracy, and could pave the way for a dictatorial government. Here are the unconsidered factors with your plan: 1. National Assembly will never agree to such an idea 2. The mere suggestion will cost you points with the media and the public who will begin to clamour against your apparent undemocratic moves 3. The military will then be spurred on first by the illegitimacy of your government's actions and secondly by the dissent of the people, to step in. The best case scenario is that your government will not last beyond 4 years and in the worst case, a military coup will usher you out of power so fast that you won't even get to know what it feels like to sleep in the presidential bed for even one night. |
