Africa is such an amazing continent. A continent with culture and tradition. However, some things are hindering the success and development of some African countries. Many countries in Africa face certain difficulties very often while others are just unknown.

Seeing the development of some African countries like Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Cameroon and may others in the past few years, one can come to conclusion that Africa is destined for greatness.
However, there are something's that are slowly killing Africa daily and they need to be controlled
ASAP!

1. POLITICS: Yes, this is the major problem facing Africa. The politics is so bad, it is like there has not been any improvement in the past few years. Many countries have failed to develop due to bad politics. For example: Zimbabwe had one president for 30 years yet they are not well known in the world apart from the funny sayings ex President, Mugabe entertains us with. If the politics in Africa can be improved, then we are a step closer to continental success.

2. MENTALITY: This is like a disease that is slowly eating many Africans today with knowing. "African mentality" as some people will call it, has been a major individual problem in the continent. Most Africans tend to believe that the whites produce more quality products no matter how pointless it is. A wealthy African man can prefer have a chewing stick from shipped in from Europe rather from his homeland simply because it is "European tree".
Like seriously? Is there an European earth elsewhere too? This mentality should be discouraged. Africans make quality things. For example, the third largest forum in the world is from Nigeria (nairaland.com) not Spain, not India.

3. EDUCATION: Education is the best legacy. Surprisingly, this saying is widely used in Africa but poorly practiced. Although there are many standard schools in Africa, the substandard ones are more rampant in the society. African schools lack the equipments for an effective learning experience.

4. HEALTH: African hospitals are not well equipped. It saddens me when people have yo be flown abroad to receive some treatments or when drugs have to flown into Africa for use. This should be great reduced.

5. RISKS: This is a very big problem. Africans don't take risks. There is a popular saying: " no risk, no reward". Fear is a very limiting factor in the success of Africans.

The first thing I expected to see was RELIGION.

These foreign religions are the root of Africa's problems. And every other problem is highly correlated with it.

One problem I feel Africa has is how we always directly and indirectly attribute our failure to the "White man" id est those who colonised us. Our leaders are quick to retort to how some activities by the Europeans slow our progress.

Another thing is external dependency, which was reiterated by the Ghanaian President some weeks back. We depend too much on the Europeans for everything, even to the extent of tailoring out laws after theirs. According to him "It can't work. It never has and never will".

It's hightime Africa started developing policies and laws based on the things present in our country, and not because it has worked in Europe. That is why most countries in Asia who gained independence almost at the same time with African countries are light years ahead.
