What is it with Salisu and Gabriel? Also i'm sorry but only 4 midfielders is just silly.

Nooo, Gabriel Okechukwu is very skillful and technical player. His WAFU CUP performance didnt do him any good, he didnt live up to his ratings. A good comparison for his will be Utaka, yes, John Utaka. He is very strong, skillful and smart.

Salisu picks Ezenwa, Ali, Okpotu, 20 others for CHAN

Head Coach Salisu Yusuf on Tuesday released his final squad of the Super Eagles B for the 5th African Nations Championship starting in Morocco next week, with goalkeeper and skipper Ikechukwu Ezenwa, midfield Trojan Rabiu Ali and marksman Anthony Okpotu listed.

Ezenwa is joined for the goalkeeping duties by Oladele Ajiboye and Theophilus Afelokhai, and defensive stalwarts Osas Okoro, Stephen Eze and Kalu Orji Okogbue also made the list, as midfielders Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Ekundayo Ojo and forwards Sunday Faleye and Emeka Atuloma.

The team of 23 players and their officials are expected to fly out of the country in a few days, to continue preparations in Morocco ahead of Nigeria’s first match of the campaign against Rwanda in Tangier on Monday, 15th January.

The 2014 bronze medallists will also play 2014 champions Libya at the same Ibn Batouta Stadium in Tangier on Friday, 19thJanuary, before travelling to Agadir to tackle Equatorial Guinea on Tuesday, 23rd January.

FULL LIST

Goalkeepers: Ikechukwu Ezenwa (Enyimba FC); Oladele Ajiboye (Plateau United); Theophilus Afelokhai (Enyimba FC)

Defenders: Osas Okoro (Rangers International); Daniel James Itodo (Plateau United); Kalu Orji Okogbue (Rangers International); Ikouwem Utin (Enyimba FC); Abdullahi Musa (Wikki Tourists); Timothy Danladi (Katsina United); Ifeanyi Nweke (Kano Pillars); Stephen Eze (Kano Pillars)

Midfielders: Ifeanyi Ifeanyi (Akwa United); Rabiu Ali (Kano Pillars); Augustine Oladapo (Enyimba FC); Ekundayo Ojo (Sunshine Stars)

Forwards: Emeka Atuloma (Rivers United); Anthony Okpotu (Lobi Stars); Eneji Moses (Plateau United); Ibrahim Mustapha (Enyimba FC); Emeka Ogbuh (Rivers United); Sunday Faleye (Akwa United); Nura Muhammed (El-Kanemi Warriors); Okechukwu Gabriel (Akwa United)

A decent list for me except for the absence of Aremu and Adeleye and concerns over the inclusion of Emeka Atuloma and Rabiu Ali.
Atuloma, who I believe is currently the captain of Rivers United is probably forty years old and I dont know what he has to offer now but I hope he proves me wrong. Rabiu Ali , though a decent midfielder is another Ahmed Musa, very inconsistent and can be useless alot of times.

Yusuf just want to win instead of grooming.

Thats why he is taking "supposedly" established players instead of grooming youngsters that will grow to add quality to the national team. I never believed in Salisu but lets just try him one more time and let him hang himself.

They tagged him "national coach" and Rohr as "technical adviser" on wiki, when we all know who leads the SE.(maybe we dont. politics of positions&naija be like 5,6)

I expect nothing much from him, except Nura's case thru the chan.

I understand he is a striker and part of his duty is to score goals and I am certain those who are dissatisfied with his output are doing so based solely on his poor goals rate, but he is no doubt a quality player with a lot to offer. However, this tournament present another avenue to assess him, once more.

World Cup: Super Eagles door not close on CS Sfaxien's Kingsley Sokari, others

Lagos – Amaju Pinnick, the Nigeria Football Federation
(NFF) president, believes that CS Sfaxien of Tunisia
forward, Kingsley Sokari, may make the Super Eagles squad
for the World Cup in Russia if he continues his fine form
for the North African side.
Sokari was in splendid form for CS Sfaxien in the out-
gone year after earning rave reviews with his three man-
of-the-match awards and November player of the month
award.
Yet to attract the attention of Super Eagles Technical
Adviser, Gernot Rohr, Pinnick noted that Sokari remained in
watch light of the technical crew ahead of the World Cup.
“I am really delighted to know that Kingsley Sokari is
doing pretty well in the Tunisian League considering the
fact that he’s a player with good quality.
“Besides, he is not a stranger to coaches of the national
team having made a mark for himself at the 2015 FIFA
U-20 World Cup and now with CS Sfaxien in Tunisia.
“It is important for you to understand that the door of
the Super Eagles isn’t close yet for Sokari and other
players who are displaying beautiful performance for their
respective clubs in Europe and Africa.
“We want the best players to don the green and white
jersey of Nigeria and I see no reason why some of these
players won’t be invited when preparation for the 2018
World Cup commences,” Pinnick said.

Yea not that I didn't get you, was just trying to play the devil's advocate. Madu was voted as the best DM in the league about 1-2 seasons ago, does it mean he's gone bad overnight? Maybe one more DM to Ifeanyi would have To least made the list look better.

I really like Oghenekaro Etebor becuaseof his fighting spirit and all but I am scared for him. If Sokari shows up and steals the show in the attacking midfield then Karo is the only player likely to be dropped. Not forgetting Joel Obi is out there posting great performances. Chai ,that midfield is so loaded.
I am fantasizing about a midfield that includes... ...
Mikel
Ndidi
Ogu
Joel
Onazi
Mikel Agu/Etebor/Sokari.

Sokari might just gate-crash this party because he is a natural attacking midfielder, a lot like Wilson Oruma.
