salford1: Thanks for this response. So you mean even to fix ordinary broken pipe or lay out a lawn sprinkler will need certificates? this kind oyibo land. Anyways, thanks for the response. I have started compiling a list of handy skills that can fetch cash after normal 'work' closes. Please ladies, can you tell us how often you make your hair? How much? Can you tell us some other things you sometimes have to spend money on especially when it relates to hiring people? I really want to offer my own services even if during spare time. I may even own an establishment which may get jobs and sublet. I just hope. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Negotiate: Your thinking is so on point. I do plan to open shop over there and sell items inported from China. I have read a bit about their importation rules and hopefully it won't be too difficult to import non-regulated stuff as long as the quality is certified. With Amazon and the likes available, I'm hoping success will be swift. That said, it's unlikely I will leave Naija based on the aspirations of a side business. As Nigerians we need to start thinking of side hustle. Seniors Maternal and Salford please what is the perception about people who do side business in addition to their employment. Is it something that is ethically or culturally frowned at? Also what is the ease of doing business especially with respect to import from China? 4 Likes |

justwise: I am surprised to hear this because people converting from ACCA to CPA contacted me and for some, we have gone beyond nairaland. I chat with some on WhatsApp and have been visited by 1. Have i also broken the rule? Infact i begged ballerz to come back on nairaland that people are asking for his assistance. Please educate me on my limits. I no wan red card. |

Negotiate:If you flood someone's house in the process of fixing a broken pipe, then you should expect lawsuits too. No problem flooding your own house though aslong as you pay your bill. lol vascey:No problem as long as your employer allows it and file your tax accordingly. I am no senior though. We are all immigrants in the pursuit of happiness. 1 Like |

justwise:Justwise, I think you folks need to be a little careful with subjective interpretations. While the intent is to drive/maintain traffic on this site, the value of this site solely depends on its contributors and content. Alot of valued contributors volunteer their time and knowledge. Asking someone to contact you is not a reason to ban anyone in an open forum. What is the point of the PM function? I'd rather you encourage sharing openly than a ban unless you are Buhari. Just my two cents. 26 Likes |

Noo! $390 is still too pricey for G2 except you live in brampton. You should shop around and get a cheaper plan. Check with Desjarins insurance and look into suggestions others might have for you. Goodluck 2 Likes 4 Shares |

Comprehensive or liability? If your vehicle is not brand new/high-end, you might want to consider liability. Also, you can try belairdirect, the personal, coorperators; i believe these companies have programs for new drivers. You can get their quotes online. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Negotiate:Good points. I have raised this issue a few times. These are viable options. Unfortunately, the Nigerian environment does not reward these skilled trades. In fact, there are no formal programs that validate or develop these skills in Nigeria. As a result, most people that immigrate from Nigeria under the skilled programs are university graduates. On the flip side, some of these grads end up in the trades if they are unable to make the required adjustments with their university degrees. 1 Like |

Ballerz: Yes o thanks to nairaland and contact exchange. Na you help me get my first job here. If driver's license matter no make us exchange numbers how i for get your number let alone get the job. My nigeria jollof rice dey wait you for my fridge. Meanwhile i also got other peoples details when i was assisting them with conversion from ACCA to CPA and we still chat up until now. Delta007: we all know schools are ranked, and some schools have better faculties than others. what do you think makes UBC a harder school to land an admission? I didnt mean to look down on MUN, I was only using it to explain a point, heck i evn would have studied at MUN if i got my visa.. in QS world ranking and other rankings, MUN stands about 400 positions below U of A. not saying their degree is weaker or that it has any impact on career/job prospects. But students, and even lecturers take these things into consideration when settling for a school, especially wrt Research capabilities. anyways, if you wish you can even say U.I or UNN is aii cos its programmes are accredited, or that harvard is just a school.. i dont understand how you didnt see that "low rate" in the context i used it, had to do with admission & acceptance rate.. 1 Like 1 Share |

dustydee: Contact me or pm me is another way of asking for contact details, this individual did not volunteer to contact him, he requested for it several times. so its different from when somebody send you a pm without you asking for it. |

Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by justwise(m): 7:53pm On Jan 03, 2018 |
czaratwork: You are missing the point here, you did not ask them to contact you, people are allowed to pm each but when people as question openly here rather than giving an answer here you asked that person to contact or pm you for an answer..that is questionable and that was the case in question here. |
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by Ballerz: 7:58pm On Jan 03, 2018 |
justwise: I was not going to respond but I will not let anyone spoil my reputation. First of all, I think either yourself or Seun Osewa is very unserious. Great Ife people apply better cognitive reasoning to situations. I am shocked!! So let me clarify, and this is what happens when people fail to apply common sense to the most basic things. Did you expect I ask people to send their Driving Letter and copy of license to a public forum, then I help them to forward to FRSC from there? I cannot count how many people sent me their letters and copy of license and I helped in the little way I can, to ensure my ex-colleague gets the letter out in good time. Or did anyone complain I collected a fee, rather I used my own resources to appreciate the FRSC team. I am not the kind of person that sits behind faceless handle and convulse shit. The people I have interacted with here, know me, my real name and where I work. So Mr. Justwise, you need to get your acts together. Thus, the ban is very good. And it is because of this kind of ill-thoughts actions NL is still at the stage where it is, the forum has failed to develop like the country called Nigeria. PS, Osewa was not paying me, rather on the flip side, the users here spend their time and data to contribute to forum. People visit here to assist others, because Together Everyone Achieves More. It is a T.E.A.M. effort. This is what other countries have mastered. See how Brampton has bn taken over by Indians. Markam and North York by the Chinese. I am yet to see where Nigerians and Africans are taking over. Please apply for Next Ban. 52 Likes 2 Shares |

Delta007: Yes its based on contributions and content when those contributions are made openly here and not in private, how will you have content if its not available here or anywhere online? Its not about people sending pm to each other, the issue here is about an individual who constantly asking people to pm him for an answer to a question asked openly here. If you can't give that answer in here then there is something fishy about your intention. How will i ban people for sending pm? Has anybody here complained that i banned him/her for sending pm? 1 Like |

Ballerz: Ballerz....your head is there!!!! Wats really baffling me is that, you weren't even given a reason for the ban.. Just like the Nigerian Police that will arrest you, detain you for days and you still don't know what you did wrong...lol And this is to them Seun Osewa, its a nice work you and your team are doing... But men!!! You guys are long overdue for an upgrade, at least an android/iPhone app with push notification isn't bad for a forum like this that has over 3m users!!! 23 Likes |

@justwise I think some things need to be looked at in perspective before applying stiff sanctions. I don't post much but I visit this page multiple times daily. Ballerz is the only NL member I have contacted off the forum and I can't even begin to say how much knowledge and information I have gained from him both on province decisions and our line of profession. One thing he is NOT is a fraudster or someone with criminal intent. He has never solicited anything from me rather he takes his time to respond to personal mails even at odd hours. It is not his loss but NL members' loss if he leaves this forum with his wealth of knowledge. The guy has nothing to lose he is already in Canada working with his PR. I hope I have not broken any IMPLIED rule with this post. 20 Likes |

Ballerz: Justwise and Ballerz please sheath your swords. Ultimately, both your intentions are to help the public. As explained, some information are too private to be posted on a public forum, hence Ballerz request for PM. In this context, please apply the rule as the situation requires. Leaving this country for another land is not easy and people like Ballerz, Maternal, Salford & co. are making selfless efforts to help people. Nairaland and indeed, all members of this thread owe them a huge debt of gratitude. It's painful that rather than being celebrated, they are banned thereby preventing them from assisting folks who need it. This is rather counter productive and not only hurts the purpose of this forum but also demoralizes those who painfully take their time to help others. Justwise, now that Ballerz has described his intention, please do the needful and make an exception in this thread. Knowing nairaland, I'm sure anyone who has been scammed or deceived will come forward. Like Ballerz said, it's TEAM effort. 9 Likes |

czaratwork: Happy New year Czar. Please how far with your CPA conversion? Have you finally been inducted? I decided to do mine while still in Naija and it's not been easy. Sent my cheque for the tax and law course since 4 weeks but no feedback yet from Lillian. Hope you have gotten a better job. This year abundance will multiply in your domot. Rebarobyn: Don't put your money on that dude, Nairaland can do with anybody including myself, great minds and contributors i met here when i joined have all gone and nairaland still moving on, in as much as nairaland appreciates people who contributes and keep this forum moving but at the same time you can't hold the forum to ransom. There are a lot of good contributors in this thread and when Ballerz was banned the thread did not close down. |
