Worst States To Live In Nigeria, In 2017 by dubemnaija: 8:29pm On Jan 03, 2018 |
A number of indices were used in getting to the above. 1. kogi: Kogi state went down as one of the worst states to live in 2017. There was little or non existing socio-economic activities all through the year. State civil servants weren't paid their salaries and the purchasing power of citizens/residents alike were in the lowest low since the creation of the state. Suicide deaths were highly recorded in the state due to severe hardship. 2. Ogun: This state is one of the most industrialised state in Nigeria, but its Government hasn't been living up to expectations in terms of adequate security and policing of its residents. No doubt, Ogun state in 2017 has the highest level of Ritual-Kidnap cases in Nigeria. 487 cases of ritual Killings were recorded and many more went unrecorded. 3. Adamawa: The dreaded Boko haram sect has now turned this once peaceful state to its operational base and more bombs are going off in this state than any other state in present day Nigeria. Since the recapture of territories once under the control of the sect by the military in Bornu state, they charged and settled in neighbouring Adamawa. Also, villagers and Fulani herdsmen has had its share of squabbles and killings following thereafter. Attention should be given to this state else it turns to another Bornu state of 2013. 4. Benue: Talk about Fulani herdsmen killing and sacking villagers from their homes, remember Benue state. The government in the food basket of the nation has done virtually nothing in securing the lives of its people. There were over 11,577 recorded (and unrecorded) deaths in this state in just 2017. Its citizens has been displaced and now living in camps. The possibility of getting killed in this state by rampaging Fulani herdsmen in 2017 was very high. 5. Abia: The upsurge of IPOB in this state in 2017 came with it's risks. The citizens at a time were sleeping with one eye wide open. Economic and commercial activities at some times last year were brought to a halt in Abia. It was seen as the capital of the Biafran apologists and hence the military beamed its focus on the state. Alas, this came with wanton killings and destruction of properties. Some of its citizens till date, are yet to recover from losses incurred from last year 2017. 6. Kaduna: Kaduna was one of the worst states to live in Nigeria in 2017. It had aggressive and mean kidnappers killing at little provocation and a times 'drinking bloods of hostages who couldn't cough out Ransome money. Also, this state was awashed with news about Ethno-religious rivalry, protests and killings. Fulani herdsmen also had many of its residents killed to pave way for their cattles to feed on green leaves and crops. Kaduna is seen as one of the states very dear to the president, but this was not translated to relative peace and security on ground. 7. Rivers: Some term it Rivers of Blood; albeit, they are right. Senseless cult and politically motivated killings and assassinations were the order of the day in 2017 Rivers state. Everyone was the target and everyone was preyed on. Just recently, worshippers returning from church service were gunned downed and sent to their early graves. Such a senseless one. The very sets of cultists that abounds in Rivers state needs blood to have their systems powered. They kill and maim with ease. If you lived in Rivers all through 2017 and you are reading this article currently, you are very lucky to be alive. Always be vigilant and avoid crowds. 8. Ekiti: The fountain of knowledge state is now ravaged by hunger and it is one of the states in Nigeria with the lowest purchasing power. There is no viable industry in the state and its governor has done little or nothing in alleviating the sufferings of his people. Able bodied youths from the state are moving en mass to other states in the region - notably Lagos state. .....to be continued 1 Like 1 Share |

SW should step up. Abia shouldnt be on that list. The IPOB issue rekindled a sense of pride and ethno-patriotism in them. The killings there by soldiers is little compared to badoo killings in sw last yr. As for Aba, the once dirty city is now receiving the much needed attention. |
