Very clear now:

Their initial plan was to blackmail the FG and force it to increase the fuel price.

The marketers are not in it for profit but just as a welfare package for the people, not so?

The truth is that Buhari is very aware that the cost of landing a litre of refined oil now more expensive and since marketer are not welfarist who will sell fuel at a loss to make some dullard look good the ball is in Buharis court and he has just the following options

Increase pump price of petrol

Pay subsidy on every litre of petrol imported

Subsidise forex for fuel importers

Or simply hand them a tax holiday till he figures out what to do

The marketers know these are their last days.

The refineries are coming.

If they like they should continue to play koso.

What I like the president for is his ability to remain focused regardless of the distractions.

Liondeleo quoting Omekalives when innocent farmers in benue are been slaughtered like chickens in their own land. If only he can invest a little of the energy he spends online hating on IPOB to lead an online protest against the wanton destruction of lives and properties by fulanis and Nig Army and the pythons in his home state, perhaps the dumb president with an acute ear infection would listen. Comic! grin grin grin

See him posting pics of cities with erosion crises whereas his own city of Benue was not only sacked by flood last September but is flooded currently with the blood of innocent men, women and children! Shameful!

These marketers are wasting their time asking for tax holidays and all what. Buhari is hard of hearing , unteachable and not a proactive person.

Not until the citizens begin to roll on their bellies on the street before any of his aides compel him to act!

This is an unreasonable request by the marketers.

They had probably noticed Buhari's refusal to accept the reality of deregulation and capitulated to keeping the price at it's unrealistic low level.

For Pete's sake, the landing price is N171/litre at the port. how tthen can it be sold at N146 at the pump.

I know some will say if it is locally refined, that will solve the problem.

Question is- Will NNPC dash them the crude oil to refine??

Obviously not!!!

Dangote said refining it locally will save about 23 naira per litre.

So, let's minus 23 from 171. That still gives us 148 wholesale price from the refinery. Yet the pump price is 146. We have not factored in transport cost from Lagos state to other parts of the country and profit margins have not been included.

Government should simply deregulate the price. Yes, Nigerians will pay higher but supply will be guaranteed like diesel and now kerosene after government deregulated the price.

I don't see how Dangote will cope with a subsidy regime. I suspect he will lots of money to any presidential candidate that will free the price from its' present senseless stranglehold

When Dangote's refinery comes on stream the industry would be fully regulated.

Doing so would lead to competition and a stable price regime.

I knew it and Buhari was spot on when he said some enemies of the state deliberately hoard fuel and put us through sufferings. They want tax holiday having blocked their conduit pipe. thieves!

Right on point.

The fact that more filling stations sold fuel today compared to previous times,is a strong indicator of deliberate hoarding and sabotage!

Where are the liters of fuel sold to them by NNPC @N133?

A holiday is a time of rest, break or less work. Tax holiday is therefore a period of "tax rest", "tax break" or "less tax".

I explained that in the simplest terms.

Giving them such holiday simply means the expenses they incure upon importing the products would be less, therefore even if they sell at lower or regulated prices, they'd still make reasonable profits.

Desperately searching for means to maximise profit.

Thought they earlier said the landing cost is not sustainable at the approved pump price.

The problem is now tax.

Rubbish, if you can't import, blady drop your import licence for the numerous willing marketers.

exactly.dont play nice with greedy people,na you will suffer it at the end.their greed is limitless.you give them subsidy today, they will demand double subsidy tommorow.this is what jonathan went through.jonathan was just too nice.a nice leaders with greedy subordinates will not last.

The only problem we have in this country is to have a particular tribe which has constitute itself has a curse. Thank God the truth about the saboteurs is coming out. And God is disgracing them now.

They suddenly been changing topic from the marketers to Benue massacre when the issue of the marketers are been resolved. Is this thread for Benue massacre or petrol marketers, these children of wailers and haters are absolutely cursed.
