Nobody get banned without a reason, the system will demand that you give a reason for a ban else it will not go through and i provided a reason when he was banned.

Although this issue has been flogged already, just want to add my two cents.

Its obvious you and ballerz both have valid points.

You for his violation of rule 22, him for not wanting to display his contact's detail on a public forum which is valid in itself.

I believe if you had discussed with him as to his intent for asking for pms prior to the lenghthy ban, this would have been avoided.

In cases like these (because i am sure it can come up again in the future), what do you advise?

I woke up one day in October 2017, and saw this pop up that I was being suspended till Dec 31. I did not know what it meant until I tried to respond to a query. Reached out to Osewa and team and there was no response. And since I was not being paid for providing content on the blog, I told myself I would use those minutes for other productive matters.

Those who reached out to me, I still provided the help I could. And guess what….? I have met quite a number of people from NL in person. Met this Nigerian Guy at Acces, we exchanged numbers. It was just last week he said “I think we have communicated before, I sent you a Whatsapp Chat and you responded” I said I am not sure. He said he will look for the chat, and boooom na true o. Cool guy. Make we dey do good. If he was to assassinate me, na easy does it he would have taken me out.

Met Czar two or three times now. I even ate her Ogbono when I visited her in Mississauga. She has a creepy landlady.
For the Driving License, my guy is off that project. He doesn’t have direct hold on them again.
So what has been happening while I was away… I was going to resume to NL on Jan 1, after ban elapsed. I just told myself, this blog owner is unserious. I am not being paid for it, I am banning myself too.

Otherwise what is the best way to convert your USD to CAD when one lands, I know say them no get black market like Naija �.

All Canadian banks accept USD. I suggest you do the USD/CAD conversion in Canada. The rates are not fixed; they fluctuate/float.

Don't put your money on that dude, Nairaland can do with anybody including myself, great minds and contributors i met here when i joined have all gone and nairaland still moving on, in as much as nairaland appreciates people who contributes and keep this forum moving but at the same time you can't hold the forum to ransom. I do not think anyone would have expected him to ask the people requesting his help to post their Driver’s Licences and request letters on a public forum. I think the ban was high handed. It’s important we apply context to the rules in my opinion.

Canadavisa has this and it’s optional. The user can turn it off if they don’t want notifications rather than it being disabled for everyone including those who would want it. You may want to consider that.

That's a much better option. I tried to explore that but they insisted I pay via cheque from my country. Took about 3 weeks to get the cheque and it's been enroute for an additional 4 weeks.

Mailed them today and they informed me they had a cheque which they could not tie to an applicant. Thankfully I scanned mine and sent them a copy. Unfortunately it's not mine. Yet I wonder whose cheque is with them.

So if anyone here sent a cheque of 495 CAD to CPA BC for law and tax course without inserting the details, contact them (with details of your cheque- number and date) because they have an outstanding cheque without sender.

There are things you only see in the Media. I have been to Harlem, New York and also to the country of Jamaica and I didn't see any drive by shooting in those places. I am sure the day I will visit Lagos, chances are I won't see any crime been committed.

I started my career in HR, but when I got to Canada I realised there is more opportunity in Accounting. So after I did my research I registered at a community college here in Winnipeg for a Diploma in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. By the grace of God i only have 4 months to complete it. Then i continue with my CPA Prep courses.

I'm writing this epistle because I have something I want to share for people who are interested in accounting. Seneca College Toronto have a one-year graduate certificate that covers all the CPA Prep requirements, whereas after my 2 years course I will still have to write 6 Prep courses. In essence, after one year you can move to PEP.

Just to add to this discourse, from my experience with a Forex exchange firm I use, (easily accessible, a walk-in service in a shopping mall, not at all difficult to access in comparison to Nigeria's forex procurement wahala!) I always (and I've used them and compared the rates over and over again ) get better rates there than what my bank offers me. The difference may be marginal but if you're converting large volumes of $, it becomes significant.

Additionally, like the previous contributor noted, the currency value fluctuates, so if you happen to land at a time when the rates are unfavorable, you may opt for doing the conversion 'piece-meal' (in bits) while you open a USD account with your bank in order to bank the bulk of your USD. I made the mistake of converting the bulk of my USD to CAD at the bank as soon as I landed (JJC ). Never knew I could easily open a USD account without stress to bank any us dollars I don't change immediately. my 2cents
