I am also shy and i have tried not to be shy but i have failed many times.

My goal is to become an artist cause i have the talent and i know a musician must not be shy.

I feel your pain I was there before, I can't help you with the girls stuff but the music part.
You can start by singing another artist's hit song on stage (first with your friends, then keep increasing the audience once your confidence builds up)

if you are afraid ask someone to accompany you up stage, you could take
the verse (preferably one verse) and the person you are with (Someone that is bold and popular)will take the hook.

Keep performing with the person till you feel confident enough to start going up on your own
That's how I got rid of my stage fright

But the main thing behind the success was the support my secondary school mates gave me.
The first day I performed for them, they were just flowing with me it helped boost the confidence, the whole place was crazy.


N.B: this won't get rid of your shyness completely but it will help a lot,
just as it helped me, from performing to a class of 40 to Unilag's orientation lecture with up to 5 faculties in attendance Last year at multipurpose hall(who knows what event I'll be performing in next)

I read in the book. when you
approach a lady who seems to
be busy and don't want any
disturbance, you don't have to
distract her by saying "hi".
Just sit quietly beside her and
wait until she notice your
presence.
I followed the instruction from
the book and sat quietly beside
her. she looked up from the
book she was reading when
she realized I was sitting
beside her. she stared at me
for a while and turned her
gaze back to the book she was
reading. I didn't stared back at
her when she stared at me. I
just kept staring into air with
an expressionless look on my
face. that was also the
guideline from the book.
she shot me a side glance after
a while, maybe wondering why
I chose to sit beside her out of
all the chairs in the class, but I
pretend I didn't notice. she
seemed to be distracted
already.
I have to proceed to the next
step from the book. According
to the book I read. 'don't try to
distract a lady with words,
when she's busy. let your
presence beside her, act as her
distraction. when she is
distracted, you can now say
hello.'

"hi" I finally said

"hi" she responded

I made sure that I maintained
eye contact with her. that was also the instruction from the book I read. A lady can easily
know that you are not
confident speaking to her, if
you can't maintain eye contact.

"I hope I'm not disturbing you.
I saw that this is the only quiet
place I can read without any
disturbance, that was why I
came in" I said

"oh, not at all. you are not
disturbing me" she responded.

"you're an engineering student
right?" I asked

"yes" she responded.

"I always admire ladies that
are studying engineering
courses." I said

" so what course are you studying?" she asked

"Economics" I answered

"oh, I have a friend in that
department" she said

"what's her name?" I asked

"a guy actually" she said

"oh. I see. what's his name" I

I really couldn't believe that I
could keep a conversation with
a lady for this long. All to
sylvia for the book she gave
me.

"so what engineering course are you
studying actually?" I asked

"computer engineering" she
responded.

"wow! I initially wanted to
study computer engineering
while growing up. I just had to
change my mind because I
realize I don't have passion for
it" I lied

"computer engineering is an
interesting course" she said

"so what made you chose the course?" I asked.

"I have passion for it" she
responded.

I took a side glance at the door
and saw Mustack peeping from
the door.
I turned back to face the lady beside me with smiles on my
face.

"I have lecture in the next ten
minutes. let me leave now so that I will get to the class on
time" I said

"okay" she responded

I stood up, took just two steps
away from her and turned
back to face her.

"sorry, you didn't tell me your name" I said "I'm Precious" she responded.

"okay precious, I'm Christian"

I turned and walked out of the

The first time I tried to woo a girl was quite embarrassing lol, I was 15 then and I was sitting for waec GCE.
In my center there was this girl, she was very attractive and she looked older than I was.
So one day after we were done with the day's paper
I was walking with two of my friends, and I signaled to them when i saw her entering a classroom
I was like "guys look at that girl, that's my crush"
One of them says I should go meet her and ask her number, the other one said I shouldn't waste my time she won't give me her number.

The thing pained me I asked one of them for his phone (cause I didn't have as at that time).
The girl was in the classroom she was busy with her phone.
i was afraid but I can't abort the mission because
It was a new experience for me and I had always wanted to try it.
When I got to the girl:

**Me vibrating like iron they flogged with stick**

"Hi" I said
She looks up and says hi

"So how was today's paper?" I asked
"It was ok"

"That's good, how about the physics"

"it was ok" she answered

"can I have your number?" I said, because I ran out of things to say.
She says ok

"i'm ready" I said

She calls the number but I was typing it really slow cause I my hands were shaking and I wasn't paying much attention, my attention was focused on how i was shaking and the girl can probably see it.

"kai you have killed yourself see the way you are shaking you shouldn't have done this" I said to myself.

The girl noticed my condition I think and asked me for the phone, she took it and typed her number, me very nervous to get out, ran out as soon as she gave it back.
When I was out, my friends where hailing me
"did she give you her number" one said
I said yes
"where is it?" the owner of the phone said taking the phone from me.
"You didn't save it, what is her name?" the owner of the phone asked.
Sh*t I didn't ask for her name I said to myself

I walked back to my bed
and sat down
immediately Sharon and
Sylvia left my room. I
took the book Sylvia gave me
and opened to the page that
highlighted step by step
guideline on how to speak
confidently in a large crowd.
After reading for a while, I
took a pen and write down
some tips. I used the next 4
hours to prepare the speech I
would deliver in the event my
department is organising. I
finally slept off by 1:15am.

I woke up exactly 5:30am. I
quickly prepared for lecture.
my first lecture for the day
was by 8:am. so I have to leave
home early in order to get to
school on time. I had
breakfast and left home exactly
7:am.

I got to the class our first
lecture was holding and settle
down. the class was almost
filled up when I get there. the
lecturer walked into the class
few minutes later and went
straight to the business of the
day.

immediately after lecture,
Sylvia walked to me and sat
beside me

"hi Christian" she said
immediately.

"hi Sylvia. how are you?" I
asked

"I'm fine and you?" she asked

"I'm fine too" I responded

"I hope you had a great night"
she said

"yes" I responded

"and I hope you had enough
time to prepare your speech"
she said.

I didn't respond this time. I
only stared at her. I still don't
know why I always get scared
at the mention of that word
'speech'

"are you not prepared for it
yet?" she asked

"I don't just know if I'm
prepared or not. I'm still very

"don't worry, you will
overcome your fear. just keep
working on it" she said

"thank you very much Sylvia."
I said

"do you have any other thing
to do now?" she asked.

"not here. let's look for an
empty class where we can be
alone." she said

we stood up and left the class.
we located an empty class and
sat on the seat at the back. we
sat quietly for a while. I
decided to speak when she
wouldn't speak.

"Sylvia, we are here now. let's
start the discussion" I said

she turned to face me and
stared into my eyes. I stared
back at her.

"Christian" she called softly.

"yes Sylvia" I responded

"have you ever fallen in love?"
she asked

I froze immediately. I never
expected such question from
her.

"I........ I......... I...... " I couldn't
say anything. I didn't even
know what to reply her.

"Christian you know we don't
hide things from each other.
so you can talk to me" she
said.

I took a deep breath.

"the truth is, I have come in
contact with a lot of nice ladies
that I love and would love to
spend the rest of my life with,
but due to my shy nature, I
couldn't approach them and I
lost them all" I responded.

"aside from the tutorial, do
you and Sharon have any
other thing together. are you
dating her, or intend to date
her?" she asked and stared
curiously at me, waiting for an
answer

I couldn't respond. I seemed
not to understand why she was
asking all these questions.
Sharon too, asked me same
question some days back.

"Christian please answer the
question" she said when I
didn't respond.

"I'm not dating her" I finally
responded.

"that means your relationship
with her is strictly based on
student and tutor relationship"
she said

"yes" I responded

she heaved a sigh of relief.

"if you find out that someone
love you dearly and is ready to
do anything for you, what will
you do?" she asked.

I really didn't know why she
was asking all these questions ,
but I just have to answer her
question from my heart.

"if I realized someone love me
for real, I will make sure I
never let her go" I responded.

Her face curved in a smile
