Nigeria is not ready for that.
When the railways are functional, we can give it a shot.

Then you are not ready for development.

Besides, why do you insist on a functional railway system before such a system is adopted.

How have we being transporting fuel through out the country.?

You are not yet ready for Change.

Allow Marketers to import fuel without subsidy and watch fuel price collapse.

Indeed, Nigerians are very forgetful. If only Jonathan had utilized the opportunity of very high crude oil prices to make our refineries work, repair our bad roads and vigorously build the railway, nobody would have voted him out. Instead, he was paying for over bloated subsidies for non existed petroleum products supplies and sharing dollars meant for development and war against terrorism. I would never have believed that Nigerians memories are so short that so many online warriors are clamoring for his return in less than 3 years.
There's truly wisdom in the saying that "A people get the type of leadership that they deserve"
Pending the time that Dangote and other refineries would come on stream, our best bet is for the NNPC to bear the loss by continuing to be the sole importer and manage the distribution the way and manner they did until the recent sabotage that led to the scarcity during the yuletide.
They will do well to continue this until the government is able to sell the old refineries to competent investors who can do a proper turnaround maintenance and run the business profitably in readiness for competition with Dangote and others when they begin production next year. The other options are no options at all!

Stop deceiving yourself.
It won't collapse, except the dollar rate falls.

Maybe you need to search an check for world gasoline prices.

We are currently at our position because of subsidy.
Without exchange rate reviews, we won't get out of this mess

In the graph Nigeria sells @ 0.40dollars

Your Jonathan made all the monies that can be made from oil and the highest in the history of Nigeria but still left the same oil industry in huge debt that Buhari you hate so much came to upset even when price of crude oil per litre went to its lowest price. Your type were the one that made Jonathan loss his savour.

American government is the biggest debtor in the world owing trillions of dollars, yet the country's economy has not crumbled. Her dollar is still as strong as ever. Every government inherits debts. Buhari will still Handover debts to his successor. So, shut that line. They are all excuses for failure. Try another line.

It is increasing becoming clearer that Jonathan was a more humane manager of resources than this cattle rearer from Daura. Even at 100 dollar per litre, Jonathan was able to sustain a subsidy regime which ensures that fuel was sold at 97 naira per litre, from 75 naira it formerly sold. This cut down in subsidy generated a fund called sureP.
Here is Buhari, at 45 dollar to a barrel, fuel was sold at 145 naira from the former 87 naira. There is no report of a fund saved due to subsidy removal. Instead, government is taking a billion dollars from the excess crude account in the guise of fighting terrorism.
Two things are involved here. It is either Buhari and his cohorts are massively stealing from us or he is as dumb as a dullard, having no iota of idea as to where the money is migrating to.

Your comment shows you have no knowledge of the situation and to think you have so many likes..smh! I'm too tired to explain anything now.

Story.

Workers asking for pay rise, where will the money come from?

Collect the money from increased fuel price, pay them. Market women and others increase cost of all stuff and then we are all back to the same point with the difference being only on the amount of money spent for an item. But the level/standard of living remains same, no left or right shifting.

A world racing to its end can not be managed. People just waste time postulating theories and philosophies that will not help.

Those with stagnant salaries will suffer more.

And the argument will continue with twisting of issues to suit once side of the argument even when the obvious is clear.

No wonder we read:
(Revelation 12:12) 12 On this account be glad, you heavens and you who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to you, having great anger, knowing that he has a short period of time.”

The same argument is going on everywhere in the world with the difference being the issue that affects that part of the world.

This Is Where We Expect The Government To Intervene. Social Democracy Is A Postulation Of Welfare Economy. Anything That Increases The Fuel Price Will To Increase In The Prices Of Commodities. This Will Aggravate Cost Push Inflation. This Will Increase The Misery Of The People. More So, We Cannot Go The Way Of Subsidy Because It Will Cost The Government A Lot. And At The End, There Will Be Little For Capital Project. In The Mean Time, LET CBN CONTINUE TO INTERVENE. If NNPC Continue To Import Then We Should Set Up Network To Prevent Saboteurs From The Marketers In Terms Of Distribution. NNPC Uses Their Depots!

As long as we don't have local refining capacity we must react to the landing costs.

Oh my Goodness! Price controls and currency controls? Now I am truly beginning to understand why the oil and a gas sector is a mess. When will all this third world countries learn from their counterparts in other parts of the world? Price controls and currency controls are counterproductive governmental intrusion into the market place. Let market forces determine the peice of crude, not the govt. Why no one seems to understand this is simply shocking.

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! Governmental intrusion into the free market usually end up hurting those it seeks to protect.
What the Fed govt should do is abandon their price controls and currency controls and let the free market dictate things.
While they are at it, they need to sell our refineries and NNPC, and NLNG and watch out economy take off.
If I were in their shoes I will even take it a step further and return from the federal govt back to the people. Do all this and see what happens to the Nigerian economy within a year. Too bad our leaders either don't know what to do or they don't have the courage to do it.

It is because NNPC is the sole importer that is why we have this problem.

Let every marketer import his fuel and NNPC do quality control to ascertain the best fuel for consumption.

Wrong! NNPC should not exist in the first place. It's an avenue to steal money by the corrupt govt. The oil and gas sector should be in private hands. It's state run companies that impede progress and investment into the oil and gas sector.

kindly do the maths.

the only way forward is for NNPC to be the sole importer, because if you give a special dollar rate to importers, we will have them selling it.

Its high time ,the federal government reviewed the exchange rate to around 240 naira to a dollar, as i believe we have saved considerably.
the should also think of increasing tax on certain imported items to the tune of 80% to enable local competition.
finally DPR needs to up their game on tracking of diverted products.they really messed up this festive period

Absolutely Wrong! The way forward is for the govt to sell off NNPC, NLNG and all the state run refineries and let the free market set the prices. This is how things work in developed countries like the U.S. governmental intrusion into the free market systrem all in rhe nsme of looking out for the common man tends to hurt the common man in the long run. Get the Fed govt out of the oil and gas sector now!!

WHY CAN THEY JUST FIX THE REFINERIES , THEY PROMISED THAT ALL FOUR REFINERIES WILL BE WORKING WHEN THEY COME IN BUT 3 YEARS ALMOST GONE NOTHING IS HAPPENING.

FIXING THE REFINERIES IS NOT A BIG DEAL, ALL THEY NEED TO DO IS AN UPGRADE, TAKING OUT OLD AND OBSOLETE PARTS AND INSTALLING NEWS ONE HAVE DONE IT BEFORE IN A LOT OF GAS PLANT, SAME CAN BE ONE FOR THE REFINERIES, ALL THIS NOISE THEY KEEP MAKING WILL NOT HELP US, I THOUGHT PMB HAD THE CAPACITY TO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN, IT IS VERY CLEAR TO ME NOW THAT IS NO DIFFERENT FROM THE REST PRESIDENT BEFORE HIM .

This current administration lacks what I call good and intelligent governance.

It will take NNPC donkey years to tell CBN to release dollar at $204 in order to make fuel available which all the sectors use in absence of steady power supply?

Our religious tourists get same dollar, less than $204. I guess the problem is not our political leaders, it is just that we, Nigerians lack the utmost will to choose what is right against what is wrong!
