Only advantage is logistics.....but considering the T5 is more of a G5 replacement than a G6 replacement one cant really compare the 2.

Instead of a SAMIL towing a G5 the T5 is just a Truck with a G5 on top of it....it can also carry most/more of its supplies unlike the G6 which would need an entire supply truck!!

According to Denel in 2016, the SANDF swapped 6 G5s for 6 T5-52s....since the 6 G5s sold the UAE were Army stock....I was under the assumption that the army already received them since i saw 2 T5s in Potchefstroom back in 2016!!

But i can distinguish in the article, if the order is part of that previous agreement or if it is a supplementary order. Would be very unfair if the SANDF had to order 3 T5s since it gifted 6 G5s!!

Yep. The US publishes the EDA list and countries put in their requests, including how they'll fund transportation costs, refurbishment costs etc.
The US then decides to accept or reject the request, based on their own criteria.
