What aspect of Civil Engineering? Structures? Geotechnical? Environmental? Transport? If Structural you can check Washington state University If you can still meet up the application deadline. Most good schools application deadline for funding is always Dec 25 while few will still have it open till Jan 31.

[You act like you are so perfect that you don't ever make mistakes. To me that's pride. Help if you will and if not shut up haba. Nigerians this Nigerians that are you not one.

Depends on the school. Some are so competitive that they have equally excellent students on waiting lists. In addition, we Nigerians are used to simply making decisions on the fly, no plan, no respect for others plans and time. That doesn't work elsewhere. A lot of schools like to be prepped. If you can't make it on resumption day, you should have known well in advance and informed them so they can make necessary adjustments. Unless you died or fell seriously sick and thus incapacitated, you should be able to know if you can make it on orientation day or not.[/quote]

Take a seat son. No one is technically here to "help" you, especially when much of the "help" you claim to need is simply you just being intellectually lazy. There is no pride or acting perfect, just a fellow who is sick of the lackadaisical attitude of most Nigerians to much of anything that requires simply rubbing two brain cells together. Dropping a plate is a mistake, coming late to your orientation is not. Many of you will get a rude shock... that lateness is a habit that no one else outside of Africa tolerates.

It's not rocket science. Find the school you are interested in, find out what sort of financial aid they offer, engage them in a conversation to see what their requirements are, if you qualify, then apply. It's really simple.

There is no general form to apply for international scholarship .
First apply to the instiition you want to and they will decide if you qualify for their scholarships based on your academics performance and requirements .
You can also apply for external scholarships (the so called international scholarship) and I'm sure there will instructions to guide you on the applications.
Now you may wonder (where can you find these scholarships self) check most schools financial aid link, you'll see their schorlaships and grants and other external sources that can provide these scholarships. But I tell you since when them born me I haven't seen or heard of any beneficiary of these internation scholarships. Doesnt mean there aren't any. it's just that most of them require one to be attending some specific schools

Hi everyone, I'm applying to a school in US, working towards fall 2018 And I'm about evaluating my GP on wes And writing my SOP. Hope it's not too late... 1st of March is the deadline according to their website. IL really appreciate all responses. Thanks
If you have written your exams, it is not. If you have not written the exams, then you must write them this January to meet up with the deadline. Also,if you are sending transcripts through post office, plan for a delivery time of 2 to 4 weeks.

One thing I noticed since my arrival in the USA is that all Nigerians try so hard to talk like the Americans. I think it's a bad orientation. We have Americans in Nigeria and I don't see them trying to speak like us.. I think it's a slave mentality by the way. We feel inferior. I will retain my African accent. If I have children in the USA then they can claim to be Americans but I am a Nigerian man.
Lol. Bros, I don't think Nigerians do that out of inferiority complex. I think it is more of a survival skill. Within the school, many people may not have a problem with your accent because they have grown accustomed to different accents over time. Chinese faculty, Zimbabwean lab partner, etc. But outside school, many may ask you to repeat yourself because they have never heard anyone speak like that before, even though the US is very diverse. But last last sha, I think the key is learning the right pronunciation of words, forming accents and speaking too fast often make things worse. If one can pronounce words correctly and speak slowly, then one will be fine.

I dont know if you can, I have no affiliation with the school. You might send an email to the grad cord. However check out Dr Christopher John on the school's website if his research interest matches up with yours, 70% chances he might have funding opportunities for fall.

well depending on how many schools he wishes to apply too
Application fee ranges from $30-70 some schools are higher
Sevis fee $200
Visa application $160/200 (64k)
Shipping of i-20 $100 max
Some schools do require some deposit it can range from $200 and above
International passport #35,000(i heard last time)
Sending documents to the schools you gotta pay postal service from 20k and above depending on how many times he sends docs
Is he taking standardized test they range from 50k above (for SAT its around there idk for GRE )
Maybe WES evaluation maybe required (idk how much that is I think it's $200 dollars I'm not sure )
Requestion Transcripts from previous institution (let's assume 10k and above)
You can do the conversions and see how much it is and will give you the estimated range it will cost if he has to do all these (NOTE some of the above information are might not be accurate )
well analyzed bros,, I will pm privately for personal tutor on it ... God bless

More so, SAT , GRE and WE am novice about it .... Though I will ask him whether is aware

There nothing wrong with blending in and if changing your accent makes it clearer for others to hear you then it a good thing if your envirnoment influences that.

Which one is slave mentality or bad orientation . Where are my eyes let me roll them . .... grin

Take an adult who is Ibo to go live in core North and after some time you notice some words are pronounced like a northern. People are subconsciously influenced by their environment....

No biggie ...... especially people aspiring to grow up in their career ladder .Who said Nigerian accent is the proper way to speak ? If it was then that a different conversation. Speak clearly and write better THAT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. so please soak up your new environment and aspire to do better . Nigerian english or accent is not bad but not the world standard . Accent is not your identity and that can be change. Internally you know who you are .... if you don't change that fine but be ready to repeat what you said a million times . It not their fault too that they don't understand what you are saying

That's called curiosity stage. Let him continue to speak that starched up Nigerian English in class and see if anyone would have any idea of what he's talking about. You can't fake the way you talk because accent is like stamp in voice but you can try talk the way everyone around you would have an idea of what you're saying. Thats what he just discovered. Many were like that too when they were still new but now they know what's up. Good thing is that graduate seminar don't begin until second semester, if he's a grad student. By then, nature would have tweaked the way he talks like that of those he saw.

Her DOB is 22nd July 1992. but it shows 22nd June 1992 in her WAEC cert. she is trying to apply for international passport. which DOB should she put that will not affect her during visa interview. thanks

Call every number you know, from grad coordinator to IA etc. If you can't get through to anyone of them, skip the chain and call the dean of the graduate school directly. If resumption is Jan, 25 and you haven't got your I 20 by now, know something is wrong somewhere.
